88 rx turbo blown headgasket?
testy replied to evilsqwerl's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I found two subaru ice racing cars with 13b rotary powerplants. -
Ya. The car sat for 4 years with no prep. Fuel system behind the carb is pretty much shot. And theres a ************ ton of spiders under there. Im gonna have to see if the car is worth it. Too bad cus its an average mileage dual range car with a good body. Ive just hardly got the effort since i dont have a license anymore and Im going to australia soon anyway.

1988 Hitachi'd EA82 GL wagon project
testy replied to sprale's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
without the axles in, and engine unbolted.. I can lift an ea82 onto the fender and then out of the car and then yank the tranny out the front bare handed. Silly little things. -
How bad is it to swap a gas tank on a ea82. Mines got holes in it and full of rust keeps killing filters and pumps. Also, anyone ever mount a fuel pump / filter under the hood instead?

push button locking center diff????

I dunno, I drove on pavement in 4wd all the time and fast even highway speeds and around corners, the tiny tires will give before you trans does. -
Parts of the vehicle are not DOT. If you change these to DOT legal parts, you should be able to insure the truck. Also, you can legally license ANY vehicle if you can provide ALL and PASS all the requirements and testing new north american vehicles go through.
-
Its really not hard. You need to change to DOT spec headlights, put proper signals, corners, running lights. May beed to change the rear lights. Sometimes the windsheilds need to be changed. Canada based our import rules on american import rules. The vehicle must be 15 years old to the month (based on the tag in the door). The youll need to get a VIN number assigned to the car. A full on inspection certified by your DMV. You should be good to go. Currently out of my friends we have 6 Imported vehicles. A skyline mitsubishi GTO 2 mitsubishi Delicas 2 mitsubishi pajeros

a canadian site is terra2imports.ca

No it doesnt. Since it is a van its damn near hollow up top. All the weight is concentrated down low. It also has a very active computer controlled 4x4 system. When the truck reaches semi-dangerous angles it will correct itself by saggin the high side and stiffening the low side. It an amazing truck. Wider axles just means it will fit in less spaces, as subaru owners we all know the benifits of this. As for the minitrucks, maybe there are some differences, but I doubt you could really go wrong with any of them.
-
Quite a few are already a supercharged deisel. And if you want the van.. Why not just go with a Delica. Its gotta be the most advanced 4x4 system ive had the pleasure of driving. And there is real aftermarket support. Not to mention youve got a real engine. I know its not a subaru, but neither are those minitrucks. The Subaru, Diahatsu, Honda, etc.. All the same truck.

I know a few guys who have the diahatsu version around town, they use them for light offroad and work great. Whistler mountain also uses them as service vehicles.

Do I need to keep any of the shafts from the tail of the tranny into the rear diff? -
This thread is kinda dumb... I mean, if you could solve all those problems you could have as much horsepower as you wanted. Imagine if you forged a new closed deck block.... Anyway for reference... There is a arguement on displacement.... Im not gonna use facts... but Ill point out the Pikes Peak Celica has been running a 2.1L Straight 4 with over 900Horsepower in repeated hill climb events. You could also go do some research on group B rally cars. If you can build the block to handle the pressure, a small engine can reach massive numbers.

Skylines aren't cool anymore.. I see at least 3 a day up here.

On my XT the wastegate seized. So I was getting boost relative to RPM. If I got to 6000 rpms, It would blow the intake plenum and every air hose off the top of the motor and it even broke my hood. I had a 20psi boost gauge and I went off the scale. Most of the time it would just get way too lean and cut out though. Anyway, the car had wicked pickup and it would hang with my friends camaro untill the fuel got too lean.

price for an ej setup
testy replied to mountaingoatgruff's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Price out a legacy with similiar mileage that has some other damage or is ugly... Sell the motor for that. You should and probably will be able to sell that for 1000. At least in Canada you could easily get that... Or match the price of doing a headgasket, alot of people would rather just put a new motor in. -
I sent u a pm.
