What in the world is this freaking seat belt for?
Danbob99 replied to Danbob99's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
no, there is nothing buried under the seat that i'm missing, there are no holes on the lap belt for it, and no holes or latches on the sheet metal unerneath the back seats(they flip up) -
Headlight with water in it??????
Danbob99 replied to Buddythedog's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
lol, i've never had that problem, but i'm remembering a story that one of my buddys told me. He had an old honda civic (pos) but his rear tailights gathered water in it. And when i say water, i don't mean condensation, i mean they were about halfway up on the light full of water. He tried and tried to open it and keep the water in it so he could start a little fish tank in his tail light, but to no success. The fish wouldn't have lived anways, no way to feed them. :-) -

Danbob99 replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...

-
I also have the ea82t in my wagon, and it's a fast car, for what it is i mean, but slap those 28's on there , and your going to need alot more horsepower, or a lot smaller gears to turn those bad boys.

yea, i live just off of 228th, so i probably see you drivin through here all the time, and you probably see me blazin up the town in my turbo soob, it's the cleanest, shineast one around., oh and you probably won't see me (auston) unless your doin deliveries in the late afternoon, around 4-6, thats when i work.

That stuff works awesome, i used it on my old hyundai and it took care of most of those old little leaks that made my driveway black. Its good stuff, go for it.

radiator shot. i think
Danbob99 replied to MaroonDuneDoom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sounds like your thermo is stuck closed, your radiator gets hot on only one side becuase the thermo bein closed doesn't allow the water to criculate. Running near the red is not good, you may warp your heads if your not careful. Caution! -
Car Audio Info Needed
Danbob99 replied to Killer Chewbacca's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If you were to drop a deck into that car you are going to have to be realy careful, above all for that car i would recomend taking it to car toys, i did mine, but only to find that i could not slide the deck all the way back in becuase a heating vent runs right back bedind the original deck, this prevents any aftermarket deck from fitting. Car toys can make or find a dash kit to use so that it looks decent, but to do that yourself is going to be tough. You can see pics of the proble, on my site listed below. also, if you do install it, wiring diagrams are a pain in the butt to find for this site, so i would go ahead and buy the wiring harness that plugs straight into your stock wiring harness. The speakers in my car are exactly 6" on both doors, but my car is an 89, i don't know what yours will be. Dan -
Hey, i'm willing to go on a reiter pit run, i've heard alot about thr place and have wanted to check it out now that i have a four wheel drive car. Is it going to be hell on my car if i go up there? If it is, i'd still love to go, mabey hitch a ride with somebody willing, and with and extra seat... send me a message, let me know whats goin on, the date, the hell my car will have to endure, (it is fully stock by the way, turbo, but stock)

I hear you guys talking about creating a manual boost control for your cars. I'm intested in learning a lil bit more about these, for i have a turbo in my EA82. I can't put it into my car yet, not untill i change my head gaskets, but i'm still interested in finding out mroe about these. Does anyone have a write up about the boost controlor? i looked in the parts or how to section, but there weren't any to speak of. If any one could offer some help...it would be much appreciated. Thanks you Dan

The power light flashes on start up as it should, but when in drive the dang thing never turns off, unless i've been driving really hard and it's getting real hot. I do not though beleive that it is indicating a problem, i think that it is a simple one of the nutorious subaru wiring issues.

Thinking of dynoing the RX...
Danbob99 replied to Subarutex's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Wait till you get more done. and from what i've seen dyno testing is brutal. There is actually a mobile dyno truck that was around here a while ago, said he wasn't going to be back again soo, didn't say when. He's usually at the local car shows, and charges 50$ for three runs on it. Lots cheaper than 150$, and what do you think it would dyno at now? w/ the mbc on it and every thing? -
Steam from the radiator...
Danbob99 replied to iheartmybrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Are you sure that the steam is comming from the radiator? was it raining when you saw that happen? If your water lever never changes, odds are against it comming out of your radiator, and if it did, you would be smelling somethin real nasty associated with the burning of antifreeze (i have to live with it on my car) so i wouldn't worry to much about it. Sorry, i forgot to specify that i have an automatic transmision, four speed elecronicly shifted. full time all wheel drive.
-
It's an 89' gl turbo fuel injected, has 84 k miles on it, and not alot of work done, but some needed
-
I have a 1989 turbo gl wagon, just got it so i'm still getting used to the car. It has always shifted very hard from first into second, Even harder at higher rpm's. It's pretty uncomfortable, is there any way to fix it, andything wrong, or is it normal?
-
I'm not sure what it is or why it does that, but at the subaru shop that i work in, we will jack up the cars and on almost every car the wheels just start to spin slowly forward. You can grab the wheel and stop it, but they still just spin when you let go. Does it in neutral too...it's the weirdest thing, but i see it all the time.
-
Well, i just got my car, and i've noticed that the thing idles like crap. Generaly that indicated worn iginition part, but all of mine have been replaced or are in good shape. The car's idle sitting in park, neutral, whatever bounces around from 600- to 1200. It shakes enough to make the hula doll on my dash go nuts. I have another problem that when driving my car will hit a certint speed, and the car starts to rhythmicly vibrate, like a bulge in the same place of all four tires, happens at 45 and 75mph. Any suggestions any body?

Check your fuse box, there should be a fuse that runs your clock, dome light, and sometimes your stereo, that may be blown, simple fix and always a releifs it's not more serious.
