  1. it looks like your engine bay got in one of those fear factor dares that involve a glass box and a bunch of snakes
  2. saw this posted on i-club... http://www.phillyscca.com/courserally/index.html "The Philly Region SCCA is having it's second rally cross at the Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA (between Pottstown and Allentown) on Sunday, October 9th! The event will be held on the track using the 1/3 mile dirt oval and the infield, using cones to create a challenging course where the NASCAR Late Models usually roar!" id really like to go, but im afraid id thrash the buggy too hard and break something, and then have no ride home
  3. oops, guess i should have specified exactly what i wanted to know. what kind of products were you refering to, jwx? the SAFC is an Apex-i unit, correct? im not real familiar with all of the little universal type tuning gadgets out there.
  4. Poster: Knichol (see this users gallery) Date: Thu September 22, 2005 Filesize: 149.6k Description: Look at the EJ22 looks like a nice install. now what are you going to do with those 2200 cc's?
  5. can you give me some examples, jwx?
  6. im just wary of putting the MS stuff together... or even if i got a complete unit, i still have to source the DIS and find one of those fancy pulleys. ...and then having to tune it.
  7. i was thinking about engine management last night. im going to need something to control fuel, boost, etc after i put my td04 on the buggy. the 5th injector doesnt inspire confidence in me, nor does a RRFPR. MSnEDIS sounds great, but theres a lot of DIY and tuning involved there (stuff i can easily screw up!) i thought about rallitek's perfect power 6. it says it supports any 89+ subaru. now since the buggy is an 89, that much is going for me. i emailed a guy named sean at rallitek to ask a few questions. he says it WILL work! should allow me to run larger injectors, tune for afr, ignition curve, etc. so right now it all sounds good. he wants to know what activates the fuel cut... "Is it a switch or is it an analog voltage?" im not sure what it is, but i know its not easily remedied or else it wouldnt be a problem. does anyone else want to chime in here with some technical info? maybe we can get a plug and play adapter made with a group buy! ill paste the email here, so you can see if i left out anything that would require attention. John, The PP6 will fit your application. You will be able to re-curve ignition, scale for larger injectors, tune AFR.... The boost cut issue may require a boost cut defender or some other limit switch. Do you know the exact operation of the boost cut. Is it a switch or is it an analog voltage? If you have an ECU pinout I can make you a wiring diagram. -Sean S. www.RalliTEK.com -----Original Message----- From: John Sent: Tuesday, September 20, 2005 12:10 AM To: sean@rallitek.com Subject: perfect power 6 hi, im emailing to find out if youve had any experience in using the perfect power 6 on older subarus. i have an 89 gl-10 wagon with an ea82t. im looking to do a turbo upgrade in the future, so im researching ecu/fuel control upgrade options. my main concerns are the factory fuel cut issue (occurs at 15 psi) and tuning after injector upgrades. unfortunately, the aftermarket for older gen subarus is quite small, so any ecu/piggyback product that will suit our application is a godsend. i know theres quite a few more people with similar cars and projects interested in ecu upgrades. thank you, john
  8. one should be a mechanical clutch fan which attaches at the water pump. the other is an electrical fan. from what ive heard, you got the clutch fan if your car came with AC. not sure whats going on with your clock. :-\
  9. take a look at the setup do it sidewayz is using... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=43046&page=2
  10. ive been known to do things a little differently... theres the easy way of doing things, theres the hard way, and then theres my way which always takes another hour or 2 and a bit more swearing.
  11. probably going to be in the garage cleanin stuff up. i need to change oil and rotate tires on the wrx and the buggy some time this weekend.
  12. the problem with tapping in that spot is the reading only indicates how much boost the compressor is making and nothing more. if you tap one of the lines that connects after the TB, the gauge will indicate how much pressure the intake manifold is seeing. theres a vac line that goes from the manifold to a little boost sensor which activates a light on the dash which says 'turbo'. thats the line i tapped. i suppose you could say the reading at the compressor would be gross boost and the reading after the tb would be net boost.
  13. is this the same port thats used by the oem oil pressure gauge? my gl-10 has a digidash, so no factory oil pres. gauge and i really should install one...
  14. ive seen an older legacy with that same AWIC, but apparently that one was from an aussie subaru.
  15. this is news to me! anyway, you need to bring that thing up here for an intake! the mountains are calling too
  16. i took the fender off so i could get out the stock airbox resonator/snorkel thingy and so i could have a better look at what i had to work with. plus, with the fender off theres much more room for a cut off tool. on a side note, i just got home from driving the buggy and i still love listening to the turbo! it sounds like a mini tractor trailer without the nasty diesel rattling!
  17. you still have the stock dp right? what happened to the factory port for the o2 sensor?
  18. i avoid showing my engine bay to non-subaru folk... most people arent impressed by the vine of wires ive added :-\
  19. thanks for the compliments guys. i dunno about selling them yet. i would definately use a silicone elbow as opposed to the mandrel bend. much less cutting and cursing. theres a lot of disassembly involved though you have to unbolt the bumper to remove the fender, then you have to remove the stock airbox and resonator, move the washer fluid resevoir out of the way, and cut a hole in the fender well. i was watching your progress of your intake too, caboobaroo. that was good work, but i didnt wanna pay for an expensive aem intake only to chop it up!
