  1. http://photobucket.com/albums/b329/nkx/ well i finally got my new intake on last night. i decided that my old setup just wasnt cutting it. it was ugly, obtrusive, it sucked in hot air from the engine bay, and was probably almost as restrictive as the stocker. (with the exception of the cone filter.) so i built a new one out of a 3" mandrel bent piece of pipe from summit, a piece of 3.25" truck radiator pipe, and a healthy portion of cuttin and choppin! i reused the MAF adapter, the t-bolt clamps, and the filter (which may be replaced with a smaller unit - look at the pic, it hardly fits in there!) and the best part is it all fits! the washer fluid resevoir isnt affected, and i had to just slightly modify the fender liner to get it around the cone. i didnt really think it would make a big difference as far as performance, but its got a bit more grunt now. plus you can hear the turbo spooling! i forgot how much fun this stupid car was to drive until i got it all put back together and took it out for a spin last night. if i was make another intake, id use a 90 deg silicone elbow and a straight piece of pipe. that would be much easier than trying to hack the pipe up so its flush with the MAF adapter.
  2. yes! i dont really see the point in an individual TB for each cylinder. im not too familiar with them; i think ive heard of new bimmers with that, and thats as far as my knowledge goes. id rather have the single larger TB. less moving parts = less stuff to fab, less stuff to install, less stuff to break.
  3. the engine might be able to suck in enough gas fumes to run for a few seconds. i think if your tank was that empty, the car wouldnt be able to draw fuel in liquid form, and would only be running off of the fumes coming from the small puddle of gasoline at the bottom of the tank.
  4. is this going to be an ongoing thing? or are you just trying one RallyX out for fun? there was a rallyx last year inside the harrisburg farm show complex... simple dirt figure 8 track, no inclines or declines since it was indoors. i dont think ground clearance would be an issue for something like that as long as you stay on course. ....otherwise youd better get a skidplate! check the article about rallyx in the april 05 issue of subiesport.
  5. the turbo off my 3 door parts car was an rbh5 and it was a 5mt with d/r iirc.
  6. ive never even heard of a factory turbo USDM 200sx. the 200sx se-r came with an sr20de, but wasnt a turbo.
  7. ive seen quite a few legacy guys running wrx intercoolers. its quite a popular mod among older turboed subies that didnt come with factory ICs.
  8. bigger isnt always better. a td04 isnt too bad in this case, but it wouldnt hurt to reinforce the bottom end to account for the higher flow this turbo can push over the stock rbh5/vf7/wtfitscalled. also, larger dia. IC piping will lead to more turbo lag because theres more volume that needs to be pressurized.
  9. that looks fantastic! nicer than before that tree jumped out in front of you:drunk: i wish i had the time and materials to fix the buggy up nice as fast as you fixed your rx.
  10. search on http://www.twinturbo.net found so far: http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=classified&msg_id=89966
  11. i cant wait until i get my STi hoodscoop on the buggy! thats going to be the crowning feature...
  12. you know he cheated right? thats a replica, smaller than an actual wrx hood scoop.
  13. ventilation! open windows let in mud/dirt/wind and add drag! oh, and what did you mount the upright part of your hoodpins into, sidewayz?
  14. has anyone else heard anymore information about this? i know its this saturday (8/27), at beaver springs dragway. no idea when it starts or any other details... is anyone else going? i know i am, because im supposed to be getting my hands on a vf-11 for the buggy.
  15. FMIC on an XT? now that i would like to see!
  16. what prompted you do the compression test? motor wouldnt start?
  17. apparently coke cans are just the right size to hold gauges. either use them, or use them as a mold kinda thing to form the fiberglass around, and then go from there. gauges custom mounted anywhere youd like!
  18. i took a couple hi-res pics, but i dont have a means of hosting them.
  19. what kind of bulbs do the single lense lights use? (like the kind in my av) 9004? i ask because there are silverstars on clearance at summit.
  20. if im understanding this correctly, youre gonna pay for us to ship the injectors to you?
  21. i wouldnt mind taking a look at that fan. also do you have any of the newer single beam lights for loyale? the pass side light is now being held in by 2 bolts. lost one nut, and broke the threaded portion off the other day trying to take another nut off.
  22. so now you can flowtest and clean injectors? your services might be of use to me once i get my vf-11.
  23. is it best to go with an oem fuel filter, or are aftermarket filters just as good?
