I am stupid, how do I get out this dent?
nkx replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Dave Coleman special! Sport Compact Car sez "Oh, and we may grow a tree inside the car to push out some of the dents made by trees outside the car." -
yes. it seems to be pretty popular to remove the air suspension amongst this group. if i had one, i would have converted too.

my clutch fan is pretty loud. i dont have extensive with subarus, so i dont know if its supposed to be THIS loud. you can hear the fan over the exhaust! i want to get rid of it anyway, because its killing power at the crank. i want to get a new radiator and a new electric fan. so should this thing sound as loud as it does? can i take it out without overheating the car? is the other fan going to be able to perform cooling duties on its own? exhaust.zip

it appears to be leaking on the end where it connects to the thermostat, right around that little clamp. oh, and i dont have any more AC stuff... weight reduction!

blow off valve, turbo timer, boost controller, are they worth it ?????
nkx replied to nurseman's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
that thread doesnt say much about the oil, which is why you need the cooldown procedure. i dont wanna cook the oil still inside the turbo after i shut down! -

a turbo timer is probably one of the best things you can buy for your car. its nice to give your car time to cool down without having to babysit. plus its useful when you need to run into the house or the store for a minute. take your key out, get your stuff, hop back in and insert key, and boost away! -
If (WHEN) i fail my PA state inspection....
nkx replied to aprilspies's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
dont forget about emissions. i think you pay each time, pass or fail. its more expensive than regular inspection, because each garage can name their own price. -
hopefully will can chime in on this one, hes the suspension master. iirc, you can put kyb gr2s in the front. rears are gonna be oem unless you concoct your own custom set up.

i saw a pic of a cut up K&N beside a cut up wix filter. the wix filter itself was larger, and the pleats were more uniform than the K&N unit. i hear purolator pureone filters are good too.

white looks good when its really clean, like < 24hrs after a wash. after that, its dirty as hell. i had a white cavalier, and the buggy is white too.... i am not buying anymore white cars!

this is a little OT, but this thread got me thinking... is there a port or something i should tap into to install an aftermarket oil pressure gauge? i would much rather use something from the factory than have to drill a hole somewhere in the engine bay to put a sending unit.

now you really have been succumbed by the dark side :-p

if you have a vacuum leak, your hvac will be screwed up too. you wont really be able to control where air blows from (ie: floor, vent, defrost). i read in a book if this happens, the default is supposed to be the defrost vents, but i had a vacuum leak in the buggy and iirc, it blew air from the regular vents. -
tested my new rims on the wagon

i really like those rims. KISS is my personal preference on wheels. -
my car came with the digital dash, and im not terribly impressed by it. the speedo never can decide exactly how fast im going. it likes to flip flop between 2 numbers... like 58 and 61, when im crusing. the straight line tach doesnt really do it for me either. i dont plan on swapping it out. i dont drive the car everyday, so its not that big of a deal.
