  1. im listening in on the wrx clutch rumor... i know im going to be needing a new one, especially after the IC goes in and the boost goes up!
  2. i have to do that in my wagon. my buddy is real big on nissan Z cars, hes owned 3, and all of them you have to hold the handle too.

  4. what dia. is your intercooler inlet and outlet? i need to stock up on pipes and hoses for my ic.
  5. once the buggy is intercooled and i finish up the rust repair, im gonna be running 94 exclusively, if i can help it. i think sonoco is the only place around here that sells it.
  6. edit: new stupid question. is the vacuum line from the intake manifold what actuates the recirc to open with the wastegate when you let off the throttle? couldnt you tap into the same line the wastegate gets its signal from?
  7. is that an sti hood scoop? and bondo or something around the edges to stabilize it?
  8. what holds your IC in place? im getting a wrx IC and i cant afford to have it flopping around when im haulin rump roast in the mountains.
  9. whats involved in getting the XT6 stuff into an ea82t car? i need a clutch thats going to be able to take a beating.
  10. skip did a custom jobbie on his gl-10. i dont remember exactly all of what it involved, but i think he said he cut and rewelded the shifter at a different angle. it made a nice difference in the way the shifter felt. as far as the bushing, all i can think of is a new OEM one.
  11. ah, so load slows the engine down enough to give it time to actually make positive boost?
  12. even if youre holding 4k rpm in neutral, where there would be enough exhaust gases to spin the turbo and build boost, you still dont make any. how does the presence of load contribute to building boost?

  14. id love to come up and get some spares, but CT is a long drive. god knows im gonna bust stuff up once i get the buggy "rally ready"!
  15. are you sure you didnt accidentally disconnect one of the vacuum lines? i managed to do that to my buggy, and it ended up idling like crap (sputtering & stalling). it tried to idle around 600 rpm until that hose got reconnected.

  18. yeah, i rigged a big fat 6" K&N cone in there. i dont really know what it sounded like before that. when i first got the buggy, it had 3 exhaust leaks, one at the header, so hardly any boost, and had a bad spark plug. that cone was the first mod i did.
  19. well i can hear my wastegate opening :-p it sounds like a tiny toilet is flushing under the hood. doesnt matter how much boost im pushin, as long as im boostin. cant really hear it in 4th or 5th because the tires are too loud.
  20. what you heard was your wastegate opening. the factory turbos all had internal wastegates. its a diaphragm that pushes a rod that opens a little vent in the turbine side of the turbo.
  21. did you check for an exhaust leak around the header pipe gaskets, or on the pipe itself? otherwise your wastegate spring might be wearing out. i think the spring is going to crap on my buggy, but a boost controller took care of that.
