  1. i have all the newer axles that fit the wrx VLSD. so i am hoping it's just the process of swapping the VLSD over to the new diff.
  2. well i guess i will just have to take them apart and see. i was just hoping someone had done it before.
  3. Lets say I have a 03 wrx rear end with a VLSD and I want to take just the VLSD and put it in a rear end out of a late 90s outback. I can't just swap the whole diff because of the different ratios (4.11 from the wrx and 4.44 in the outback). but can i just swap the LSD? Or were there changes in designs through out the years even though they are all called r160s.
  4. sure sure i'm sure i will find those laying around. but thanks for the info on the RS, i know some newer turbo foresters and bajas had them. but that's a little newer then i think i will be able to find and afford.
  5. I think i remember that some late 90s legacys/outback had 4.44 as a final ratio with their automatics. does anyone have the gear listing for autos. i have the one for manuals but it doesn't cover autos.
  6. couple ways you could do this. understanding relays is pretty easy. your basic ones have 4 wires. one from constant power, one to your lights, one to a ground, and one to a switched power. the two wires that are always going to be the same are the constant power and the one going to your lights. the two other wires would control when your lights go off or on and are the ones you need to mess with. one way would to be to ground one wire and get power from your high beam headlight. that way they would come on when you turn on your high beam. then if you added a switch to the ground side (running in your cab) you would be able to turn them off or on even with the high beams on. another way would to tap into the wiring harness coming from your factory light switch. most cars now a days have the switches on the steering column control grounds. so if you give power to one wire on your relay and find the high beam wire and use that as your ground. but still put a switch in line so you can control it. sounds worst then it is, you just have to think about it as one side needs power and the other needs a ground and how you do that is up to you.
  7. you have to have the key in it turned to one of the positions (cant remember which one) and then press the release pin and it comes right out. i just did it the other day, if you still can't figure it out i could take some pictures to show you.
  8. see that's what happens when you try to stray away from home.
  9. man it was busy out there. but i got a full rear disc swap from a turbo gl for like 25 bucks. also there was no SVXs out there. hey mike how did you find out about the discount day. They didn't have any signs what so ever. If you didn't know you would have never known. but good stuff none the less.
  10. hell they used to let you use bolt in cages, they did make you weld those in though. after that they didn't change much, and rally america let all the SCCA cages in. And then pretty much as long as you kept a current log book you were allowed to keep the cage as is. it is pretty nice for us poor guys that can't be updating cages when ever RA gets a wild hair up their rump roast and wants new cage rules.
  11. i'll put it on my list of crap, there was a couple svxs out there last time i was out there. was there any kind of face lifts with the svxs, like you would need stuff from only certain years and what would a crapload be?
  12. happened a few times, that's the problem of having no speed factor, you start way in the back. but after oregon trail i now have one.
  13. nothing like the fresh aroma of eaten doritos to make a stage better.
  14. sure it is, it says scca rally on the side, so as long as he get a rally america log book before they required the FIA cages they let older cages be grandfathered in. so no need to update.
  15. hey scott swing my adapter plate over to mtnman38 i'm going to have to pass for right now on it.
  16. man that's a weird one to just have laying around. i think the only other thing it ever came in were the svxs. but not sure about that. she just needs to drop all that weird wrx tranny gearing and find her a 4.11 geared turbo tranny. and shhhhh, no one would ever know.
  17. because she has the 5 speed her rear end is 3.545 because of the 1.1 center diff gearing. yes and no will the dms stuff fit. yes the front is a bolt in, no on the rear, the top hats have a different bolt pattern. not sure what she uses for top hats, if it's the stock stuff then you could use your top hats, if it's a DMS top hat you would need to get rear top hats for a 93-01 impreza.
  18. excuses excuses crappy stuff about your car though. I was dealing with a busted up cat at doo wops so i feel your pain. maybe we will see you next year at oregon.
  19. what's the word on your ej lift. i just picked up a ugly legacy wagon for my ej motor swap, but i figure i might run it into the ground till i get a gl to swap.
  20. yes but i'm looking for better cooling. i rally my legacy and this last event was really warm. it never got super hot, but i got this economic stimulus check to do something with and that's about the only thing i would like to upgrade. well that and maybe some new brakes.
  21. Are there any good after market aluminum radiator available for the first gen legacys? or can you make one from another subaru bolt in.
