  1. Now with a singular color to the car.
  2. it's about time we saw you out there. i do have one question, how did i beat you on like 2 stages? ok they were short twisty crap and didn't have any parts where POWER would have been nice. but damn i can't wait to ditch those damn tulip maps. nothing like coming up to a corner and having a poorly drawn arrow telling you how bad it is. so what's next for you. you making the truck to Wild West? I'm starting to save my pennies now. any who it was good to see you out there again.
  3. i am trying to find the lowest gear set, 1st-5th, available to buy that came in a normal subaru. and smaller tires aren't an option.
  4. i have the chart from a long time ago, and that's what i was saying a 97-99 legacy outback 5 speed is the best. so i am on a search for one.
  5. i would say on your adapter plates if you ran them at what you were running them when you first did them. I think like $105 shipped. Or just put another one on ebay so i can buy it. I forgot to bid on the last one you had up and then it ended. If i could i would but one for the starting price you had on ebay right now.
  6. i have been reading that, and the 97-99 outback has the 4.11 (which I have right now) and the best (that i can see) gear sets in them. pretty much 1st 3rd and 4th are the same, but 2nd and 5th are lower then what i have right now. and i know that it's not big numbers, but anything will help.
  7. i'm looking for lowest (numerically higher) gear sets. after reading the list of tranny gear ratios, 97-99 legacy outbacks have the lowest 1st-5th gearing out there. not looking for freeway cruising, looking for higher revs in the rally car. as it is right now, when i am done in 4th and shift to 5th, it's just wont go any faster. so i am hoping going from a .780 5th to a .871 will help me out. that and those trannys have a lower second then what i have right now
  8. basically i am looking to find what tranny has the lowest gear sets available. according to that tranny chart that floats around the ones front a second gen legacy outback or gt have the lowest gearing. i think i need to find one of those
  9. i have a couple legacys and was wondering what you are running rpm wise at 60. i have a 96 2.2 outback that runs 3000 and one in my 90 legacy out of a 02-03 rs that runs 2500 at 60. i need to find the lowest geared 5 speed out there. the rs tranny isn't working in my rally car, it's to high geared. 5th is just worthless on stage. also if anyone gets bored what speed are you doing in each gear at 3000 rpm.
  10. well it ended up being something we just couldn't figure out. i had to toss in the towel at 12:30 this morning. hell i still got to pack up my car and go play in the woods. we took it over to a guy that knows turbo legacy really good. he was stumped too. just not enough time to really figure it out. but thanks for all the good info
  11. the only code it throws is a miss fire and that's it. and not all the time either. i got a good set of plug wires so we will see if that does it or not.
  12. I'm trying to help a buddy of mine get his car ready for oregon trail rally tomorrow and need help with any ideas at this point. basically what we did was tear down a turbo legacy harness just to make his engine run. it's a long story about a botched stand alone ecu. but he is just looking to go to stock right now. this is the story i got from him, it starts and idles great, but as soon as you try to give it gas it bogs out and dies. he said it's smells like it's running rich. i am heading his way to see what i can do to help him. but any ideas would be great, at this point we are willing to try anything. has all new plugs and wires and assuming everything is hooked up right give me some ideas.
  13. so i have an 03 outback and i had the car detailed so i could sell it, and the idiot pressure washed under the hood. so after drying out most everything i get rid of the all the time miss but I still have a miss for a few seconds when you start it cold. i swapped coils with a good one i had laying around. i pulled the plugs and really dried out the plug holes. my next step is to put some new plug wires on and see if that helps. any ideas what else to check. it's only when you start it for the first time of the day. the rest of the day it wont do it, not unless you let it cool way off. it also sometimes flips the check engine light, so i have to get this fixed.
  14. the last harness i just tore down was a ej22t, was no harder then the normal one. i think there was only three more plugs you had to keep. i figure you have to get better mileage then with the ea82 or 81. the motor just wouldn't be working as hard. and i really miss all my ea82s. sold off my last one and have been missing it ever since.
  15. what are you getting for gas mileage? now after doing my third ej harness, these things are getting easier and easier, and now i got this feeling i have to go back to old school. i miss it to much. I was always scared to try and tackle the wiring, but now i feel pretty confident about it. so now i might be on the search for a gl wagon again.
  16. on a ej22 on a 1st gen legacy, how are the cooling fans controlled? i know on the older GLs there was a temp switch mounted in the radiator that would switch on the cooling fan, but there is no such thing on the legacys. So one would figure the computer would ground a relay and turn on the fans. when i look at the service manual the only thing i can find off the ecu is on the f47 plug on the ecu pin 17 it says "radiator fan control". would that be the pin that grounds the relay to turn on your fan?
  17. hell i cut off my muffler on my turbo wagon and just put a turn down on it. it felt better and really wasn't that much louder. turbos are a good muffler by them selfs.
  18. i will have some better ones after i get all my decals back on.
  19. has anyone replaced their o2 with a universal one on a first gen legacy. i know that you need to splice the wires, but are the wire colors the same. or is there some rule of thumb to hooking up the wires. or does the directions tell you what ones to hook to what ones.
  20. As some of you may know the oregon trail rally is coming up soon. And once again I will be representing the USMB out in the old legacy. we worked out the problems that we had at doo wops and threw a cheap rattle can paint job on it. well at least it's one color now. So we should be having a good old time kicking the dirt up. Hope to see you out there.
  21. it really isn't as bad as i really was thinking. just trace the wires, cut the ones you don't need. i guess the good thing is i know what all the plugs i needed so that helped. it was all about getting rid of the ones i didn't. after that you have a manageable mess on your hands.
  22. after helping pooparu with his harness i got a email from a guy that was in dire need of help getting his rig running. so with my trusty kennedy manual, legacy service manual and truly not much of a clue if i could get it running or not i gave it a shot. the one in pooparus was cut down quite a bit, with all the BS removed already so there was less to start with. His was everything, short of the head light harness. about 4 hours after of sitting with a set of wire cutters the mess was less then half the crap it was before. we laid it on the motor, plugged everything in, hooked up a constant power, a keyed power and start power and it started right up. i don't know who was more shocked him or me. so i shook his hand and said i don't do clean up, i was just here to get it running and took off. so i learned something, i guess i can tear down a harness and get it running. always wanted to know that. now if i only had something to put a ej in of my own.
  23. OOOoooOOOOoooo look at the pretty bumper, you should have came over and castrated the legacy with me. it was good fun. but i got to say, nothing like hanging the rump roast end out with the legacy on a turn. what good fun.
