and maybe that's not what really happens but you get the idea. i have a 96 legacy and the abs light comes on sometimes. not all the times, just sometimes. and there is no rime nor reason for it to come on. like i'm not doing anything different between the times it comes on and the time it doesn't so is there a way to check the codes for the abs. like flashing or a plug in computer. and because the light goes out does that mean the code is no longer there or would it be stored in the computer.

If you were building a production class subaru...

then you end up like i am, an under powered chunky car that is in the same class as a wrx. and if i wanted to do any upgrades that are not allowed within the production rules then you be bumped up to open class. then you are running with the big boys. you are talking no budget, big company's sponsoring the car anything they want they can get. now for me i don't give a flying rats rump roast what class i run in. so i go in my 90 legacy and run in the open class just for the hell of it. it's cheaper, i don't have to worry about any of the silly rules of production. I still get to run the same roads, i still get to have a blast. i just will never be at the front of the pack. But I know what cars i am compare with so i sit down with the results and make my own class. kind of the awd none turbo class. so no i will never win, but i never plan on doing that. for me it's just a hobby, a really expensive hobby, but a hobby none the less. -
well next week will be my second entry into a real rally. i remember like it was yesterday me crashing and blowing my head gaskets at the mt hood rally. well my goal this time is to finish. i don't need to push it that hard, i'm a newb i'm not going to win. i need to just have a good time. from what i hear doo wops is one of the best local rallys. great roads, great people putting it on. so we will see. if you are making it out, i will be in the multi colored legacy once again looking like i haven't a clue what i am doing. less this time because i have been through it before. but i will be out representing the USMB. speaking of which i need to get me some damn stickers. see you out in the woods

regardless if it's a repost or not who could get mad with hot pictures like that.

thats like the saddest picture ever. you know it just wants go out and play. but i understand the reason. and one more reason i don't mind all the rain in the NW, no salt on the roads.

it's one of those cars that right after i get it I don't have a big list of stuff that I want to do to it. Like if i got a ea82 wagon, then i would have to be lifted and put a ej22. same with an ea81 wagon. then if i would have gotten the 2.5 outback, i would have either pulled and redid the head gaskets right off the bat or swap in a 2.2. so i get my mildly lifted wagon with a 2.2, can't ask for much more then that. now true i don't get a DR with this one, but it's something i can live with out.

that's what i was thinking. come to find out it was only a two owner car and when i opened up the glove box i find this big stack of receipts of service that was done to it. nice to see that they were always on top of oil changes and tranny oil changes. even though they were taking it to oil can henry and paying way to much, at least it wasn't me paying for it and it was all done. i'm still going to do the normal stuff, timing belt, plugs, wires, air and fuel filter. i paid more then i wanted to, but that was still way less then what they go for in the real world.

here she is, one of the rarer outbacks ever made. why you may ask, in 96 subaru made a vary desirable outback for me and most people that own an outback. with the 5 speed a 96 outback came with a 2.2 from the factory. so yes people a real outback with out head gasket problems and not having to swap the motor in myself. it's pretty clean in a out. it needs a couple thing, maybe a clutch in the near future. but with 210k miles on it you can expect a few thing here and there. but over all im really happy with it. this may replace my current DD if it ends being a nice car. only time will tell.

im trying to put a list together of important dates in the ej22s history. I know through out the years they had a few changes to it but I want to get a list of the major ones. Here is the list of stuff that I know changed and I will fill in the years as we get them OBD2 - 1995 (impreza and legacy) interference motor - 1997 roller rockers - 1995 solid lifters - 1997 single port exhaust - if you know more changes that happened to them add them and if you can add only if you really know that would help keep down the BS the reason i start this thread is because you always get people asking the same questions about the ej22 and i was just going to put it in the USRM

not even the same beast as the other subarus. the justy has a inline 3 cylinder vs other subarus having horizontally opposed motors. the cheapest and really only way would be find you another justy motor. i have seen an STI powered justy, but it's not what you call bolt in, lots of cutting, lots of fabbing

sad that it turned to be a POS but at least they let you back out. sure looked like it was nice, but when you polish a turd, you still end up with a turd
-
i want to see that:lol:
-
well that make sense then, but i swore dan put a new motor in it, not just new head gaskets
-
yup they have an awd with low range, but it's not like the awd from a newer subaru, it has pretty much an open center diff with a locking switch that locks it up for more of an 4wd set up. the oregon plates threw me off that looks a lot like crawlerdans

and i would say most of them deserve it. you're kind of like our designated hitter.

good to hear you found a car someone didn't snag first. just tell the hubby a lifted wagon followed you home and it was so cute you just had to keep it.
