well my saturday was cut a little short. on the forth stage right after flying finish i slid the car over the side of an embankment. didn't do anything to the car other then when they pulled me out i tore all my mud flaps off. if that wasn't bad enough on the way back to service my headgaskets went, puking water all over. so we threw in the towel and called it a day. still was tons of fun. my only complaint was the sharp left turn right after the flying finish and i had caught up to the person in front of me so it was dusty as hell, as soon as i saw the edge it was to late. but i did get a nice pick with my phone.

thanks for drumming up some volunteers, these things don't get put on with out them. that's why i did that for so many years, it was paying my dues i always figured. now, i will be behind the wheel.

good to hear someone else might make it out. move her sunday, this is only a one day event on saturday and only comes once a year. you can move her anytime.

different stores have different price zones as it was explain to me when i worked there. i always did the search around to different stores to see who had the lowest price. that's how i got my new clutch for my ea82 for about $90 with a life time warranty. i would always look up this one store in las vegas they were crazy cheaper on stuff and then price match it.

good to hear someone will be making it out. guess i will just have to figure out where the jump it when i get the route book. got to say i will be slowing down for it. not looking to kill the car or me the first time out

All those years of sitting on my rump roast in the woods watching other peoples cars drive by have finally paid off and now I get to be one of those guys rallying. If anyone has ever wanted to see what this thing called rallying is all about come out any volunteer. I know they are always looking for people to come out and help. Even if it's as simple as being a road marshal (you park on a access road and make sure no one comes on stage while it's hot). Well if anyone makes it out I will be an old legacy #345, just look for the guy that basicly has no idea what he is doing. That would be me.

yeah that's not much of an option for me now is it. -
i am looking to redo some heads here soon and i want to know if any one knows of a good machine shop local to portland. GD says he knew of a place that did them for $35 but GD can be hard to get a hold of sometimes. so until then any one have a place they like?

head gasket or cracked block?
mellow65 replied to captainkf's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
what shop are you going to for your heads? I need to get some heads redone here soon and that is probably going to be the cheapest i will find. -

the sad thing is that is about up to par, talking to the dealership about old stuff is like walking in there and speaking French. you get this look of, you mean there were engines before the EJ series. listen to GD that guy knows his stuff. also i have milked head gaskets for a while before just making sure the rad was topped off before going anywhere. now that's just me and my broke rump roast with no free time on his hands. did it hurt anything, maybe, maybe not. but my thoughts were as long as there wasn't antifreeze in the oil you should be ok. lots of people on here drive subarus that do the magical disappearing water trick. -

New project- 89 Touring Wagon
mellow65 replied to Andy FitzGibbon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
also from what i have read somewhere, and it could be completely wrong but I heard of only 1500 being made. and then the fact it was an 89 still had the DR vs the 90 being the loyal and being a push button 4x4, makes it that much cooler. and then with the lift and wheels that i sold him forever ago it will look BAD rump roast:headbang: -

good to see that she made it out there in the same shape she left here, not the prettiest thing but for the most part all there. I wish i would have had more room at my place or she would have never left. the only reason she had to go was to make room for my current play car. two words, rally car good luck with the build and i'm glad someone is going to enjoy the fact it's a touring wagon, and not just be some old subaru wagon
