  1. just use the 2.2 long block and the 1.8 everything else, ie intake, sensors, wiring, it all bolts up. and it as easy at that.
  2. i dont truly know your answer that you are looking for, but just one thing came to my mind when i was reading it. are your injectors able to keep up, or possibly going bad.
  3. i have now driven two, the first one was a newer VW and well because i have no faith in VW i didn't think much of it. but i drove a 06 scion tc and was really not impressed by the throttle. sure i know im not racing and really in the real world it maybe better. it just felt to me that when i wanted the throttle to be somewhere it was not there. like in down shifting or even just trying to back it up. it just seemed weird when i tried to blip the throttle. maybe im just anal, but i like that instant response
  4. because damn it i will never own one. got a chance to drive a drive by wire throttle car and my god you could floor it and take your foot off the gas before the engine even trys to pick up RPMs i will be sticking with cables thank you very much. some things aren't always better.
  5. no legacys were 4.111 at least in the 5 speeds. i think the autos were lower. there were imprezas with 3.90 rear ends. and i think the turbo legacys were 3.90 but they were already LSD so are you saying the old GLs dont have spider gears in their open rear ends?
  6. in the NW that is actually on the cheap side for an AWD legacy. i say if it runs out nice grab it.
  7. no only slightly high. i am swapping the whole ej22 into a 95 impreza coupe and was wondering if it would even be worth swapping the ECU from my legacy into the impreza. i just remember reading something about the full potential of the motor will not be reached by running a ej18 intake and ECU. I mean true it's not like these things are chocked full of power but a horse power here or there is going to bug me but if it makes it feel like someone has an anchor out the back then it would be worth my time swapping the whole ECU
  8. ok yes i know it will fit. yes i know its as simple as using the ej18 intake and parts on the ej22. but i have read that you will not be getting full power from the ej22 by using the ej18 ECU, intake and sensors. is that true. i mean really how much power loss are we talking about. would it just be worth running the ej22 ECU and intake. yes i know i would probable have to repin some of the wires going to the ECU. but is it even worth it. anyone play with this. i think it was Ratty2Austin that was running an older impreza that he swapped an ej22 into. i read some of his posts and i swore he later went to running the ej22 harness and ECU. but started out by running the ej18 stuff with ej22 injectors and it is an ej22 out of a 93 legacy 5speed going into a 95 impreza 5speed
  9. see thats what im wondering, at least i wasn't going crazy when i thought that i read that. so the question is there any way from just looking at the outside of the tranny with it out of the car to tell what ratio it is. now true most of them out there are from the wagons and i would imagine that most people know where their tranny came from but there is always that chance they don't.
  10. ok so what about the higher low range in some of the NA coupes. is that true or is what i read bull crap.
  11. is there any marking on the outside of the tranny to ID if a D/R is a turbo or not. Then I swear i remember reading something about some ea82 coupes even though they were NA had a higher lower range. is that one true.
  12. it does come back as having a Odometer Problem. doesn't really give much more about it
  13. what that means is in 96 somewhere in California the car was either wrecked or stolen and the insurance company figured it would cost more to fix it or replace parts then the car is worth. this is what their definition of salvaged title means A salvage vehicle is a vehicle that has been wrecked or damaged beyond repair; declared a total loss by the insurer; or declared a total loss by reason of theft. When an insurance company as a result of a total loss settlement acquires a vehicle, the insurance company must apply for a Salvage Certificate. If the owner retains possession of a salvage vehicle, the owner must obtain a Salvage Certificate before receiving a total loss statement from the insurance company. But it says it had a salvaged title then later a theft happened. But here is a odd thing to i just noticed. in 01 it had 64000 miles on it then in 03 it had 175000. Looks like some fishy stuff going on with it. I would stay away from it. Not unless it is some amazing deal that would be just dumb to not get.
  14. 900lbs!?!?! thats like me and a couple of my skinnier buddys. god knows i have loaded more then that in my old wagon, but is was a saggin wagon in the rear when i did.
  15. 4. is i believe the plug for the a injector resistor that doesn't exist. in my service manual it says something about an injector resistor being mounted right there and it even shows a picture of it but in all of mine and at the junk yard i have never seen one. odd 7. the green one you plug in to get base timing so you can time your car, the little white one i believe is a diagnostic plug and the round one is for if you had push button four wheel drive to control the vacuum solenoids. i have found that subaru just put the same wiring harness in all these cars and just used what they needed and just left the rest. im sure it was much cheaper that way
  16. So I am going to be swapping my EJ22 from my legacy to my impreza and i was wondering what should i do to it while i have it out. I plan on doing so far: timing belt water pump valve cover gaskets rear main front main clutch/resurface flywheel any other stuff i should do while i have it out and it's easy to get to. The motor only has 118k miles on it so i don't think doing head gaskets would be necessary. it's never had any over heating issues or every ran bad.
  17. Does anyone know how heavy an ea81 wagon 4x4 and a ea82 wagon 4x4 are? not GVW but true weight. thanks
  18. ok just for my own knowing, i went to subaru and had them print me out a blow up of the rear end of a WRX LSD and low and behold it shows exactly what i have. well good to know for sure now.
  19. well i just had someone from nasioc ID my picture of the rear end. he positively IDed that as being a viscous limited slip from a WRX. So mark that down as something learned today:banana:
  20. what is that from, that almost looks like a old school clutch style rear end. but what the hell do i know, im going to call them up tomorrow and raise hell,
  21. it acts just like any LSD is supposed to, twist an axle the other axle turns the same way, turn the input shaft they both turn the same. i just have never had any experience with viscous LSD. is this what one is supposed to look like. i know what i clutch type looks like, Torsen too, even the cone style. but normally there are springs, or something.
  22. well if i turn one the other turns the same way. i know the basic theory behind the LSD I just was wondering if anyone has looked in a wrx rear end and if this is what they saw or not. it's just not a style that i have seen before.
