  1. It comes back with a clean title. nothing weird about the carfax. it does mention the duplicate title but really doesn't say anything about it. I think that can come up if someone lost the title and they file for a lost title. but thats just my guess.
  2. Oh and just happen to have a welder and I'm also buying myself a plasma cutter for chritmas, man I must love myself. Oh and FYI I just picked up a 94 loyale 5 speed 4x4 with broken timing belt for next to nothing. So I'm going to be striping all the spfi stuff out here soon. EA81 SPFI HERE I COME!!!!!!
  3. just like the title says. will they bolt in or not and i only care about the front ones
  4. sounds like you need to replace the turn signal assembly in the steering column
  5. Oh one other thing, you really can't see the flasher relay from the bottom. So you just have to go on my word that it's there. And tell him he's going to need a really stubby phillips screwdriver or it sucks to get the screws out. at the junk yard i didn't have one so i had to unplug the wires from the ECU to get room for a screwdriver.
  6. I got mine from the junk yard for a $1.50. it's not something that goes out to often, but for the $80+ the dealer wanted for it I was going to take my chance with the junk yard one. Heck I grabbed a couple just encase.
  7. welcome to my hell and i figured it out. With out drawing something i will try to explain where it is. You have to remove the cover that covers the ECU under the steering column. This is the semi hard part, easy if your skinny, hard if not, you need to get a flash light and look strait up into the dash from underneath. You will see 4 relays mounted side by side. I think they are all silver. The flasher relay is mounted to that bracket the 4 relays are mounted to. You can't get to it with out removing it. It takes two screws to take out and a lot of wiggling. Once its hanging down the flasher relay is black and has a 3 wire plug on in. Hope i didn't confuse you any more but thats the best i can describe it.
  8. Oooooh yeah good call. i always was looking used, never really thought to go new I always figured they would be really expensive
  9. where do i get these magical cheap rims hook a brother up. i could never find a set of any 6 lug rims, it was always one or two and then i could never find matching ones
  10. but damn then i would need to get rid of my WAY cool AA rims. well i guess I could always put them up for sale, i got a deal on the close outs im sure someone would want the same deal. So who wants them, 4 black AA rims 5 White AA rims hey you never answered me about an auto spfi car either.
  11. not looking to part out the loyale i might sell it though. I was wanting to build a decent 4x4 rig. I ended up with both and the loyale is almost to clean to mess with. the ea81 is already rough around the edges but runs like a champ. So I have been toying with the keeping the ea81. But so far no one has said anything bad about them so I may just plan on keeping it. Just need to fix the rubbing tires on the back. And to be honest the ea82 springs on the back lift it so high that the back wheels have some bad camber. you know like when you lifted the old swing axle bugs, the outside of the wheels that were on it were worn pretty bad. so I am going to mess around with it here soon. and no 4 speed here, 5 speed DR baby, oh yeah
  12. that seems to be the main thought about these guys. i got a webber on this one right now so it a little less gut less but still gut less none the less i would love to go to the spfi. I never really knew that the spfi swap was so easy. i always loved the ea81s more then the ea82s but have a hatred for carbs. One of my dream cars growing up was an ea81 hatch. maybe now i can full fill that dream. I just put my AA rims on it just to see what she would look like, the wheels are the cleanest thing on it, but it sucks the back wheels rub the ea82 shocks and springs so i might just have to go back to the normal shock and figure out how this rear suspention works. I think they are a torsion bar set up. but here's a picture
  13. Not a 93 parts car, just a really clean wagon that I was going to lift and play around with. But I bought this old wagon that had a bunch of stuff done to it like a lift and 5 speed DR swap. And I guess it has a newer motor in it (what the guy said). But i have to say it is one of the smoothest running old suby I have ever heard. And I have never been a fan of carbs, but I have been talking to GD about fixing that problem. So we shall see.
  14. I think I saw your write up on the SPFI swap on the EA81. I can't say I am much for wiring other then the little stuff. Well then again, I have never taken on anything like that. It's got a webber on it right now and for the most part someone ripped out the whole emissions set up on it so it's pretty bare under the hood. This one has power steering, someone swapped rear discs already and I think they did a EA82 rear sping set up on it. It's got a decent rake on it from the springs on the back. Someone already swapped the 5 speed DR in also. I don't think I would be afraid to try the swap. I am going to try and get a part time job at U-pull it off of foster because I have to get a job to finish up my degree in automotive repair. And I can only imagine the discounts someone that works there gets. And I see you are a portland guy, maybe I could buy some of you time with some beer or something but I don't know how amped you would feel about doing another swap. At least the nice part about helping other people with there projects you can always go home in your running car.
  15. As some may know I have a 93 loyale wagon that I just love, other then the hesitation demon that i just recently fixed its a great rig. I bought a 83 GL wagon that had a duel range 5 speed swapped and some other goodies done to it like a lift, a webber carb and some other stuff. My plan was to part out the 83 keep the dual range and put that in my loyale. But here's my thing, i think i have really fallen for the 83. Sure it's rough around the edges and kind of smells inside, but it's drive train is great. The motor runs great. No leaks, no smoke, (and with a missing cat you would know). I know quite a bit about the EA82s but have never messed with the EA81s. Are they as good as the ea82s. Sure I understand it's got some less horsepower, but who cares I'm not out to win any land speed records. And if I'm not mistaken they are a gear driven cam so no broken timing belts. What else should I know about them? Are they as prone to head gaskets going as the ea82s? Any info would be great. Thanks
  16. Drum roll please. crappy plug wires I replaced the crap ones i got from schucks with the NGKs and the hessitation was gone. Just goes to show you that cheaper is just that, cheaper. Spend the couple of more dollars and get a quaity set of NGKs or other set of quality plug wires and stay away from the cheap crap that all these parts places are selling now a days. I'm still going to check the little screen in the fuel pump and clean the IAC just to make everything tip top. I hope this helped anyone that has the same problem.
  17. Ok in the probably not so near future I would like to swap a ej22 into my loyale wagon. My goal is to find a car that is not the prettiest thing in the world or has a dead tranny to use as a parts car so I can have all the wiring i would need for the swap and not have to run back to the JY every time i forgot a relay. My question is, can i use an auto legacy and put it in my loyale or is there other systems that are incorporated into the auto harness that would make it easier to just find a manual. Also would you need to swap a manual ECU in place of the auto one once all said and done. I know some cars have different ECUs for autos and manuals, is the legacy one of these cars. Not in any kind of a hurry, im just in the planning stages.
  18. never in all my years have i had a problem with fel-pro gaskets but i can't say i have tried a set on a subaru
  19. i have heard of a HVAC but not a HAV but i thought you said yours only did it under idle to light throttle not full throttle, mine is heavy to full throttle
  20. damn that sucks i paid $38 for mine. Oh well its not the end of the world. if it works thats nothing to pay for fixing the problem, if not well who the hell knows. either way im taking back the other plug wires and telling them they were causing my hesitation problem, guess thats the nice thing about life time warranty.
  21. mine is more under load but doesn't have to be just under full throttle it can be under part throttle when trying to accelerate quickly. but if you want to drive it like grandma and be real easy on the throttle then you get no hesitation. odd. well the hunt is still on for me. thank god this is my winter car and not my DD
  22. Man I got all sorts planned now for this weekend. Clean the fuel pump screen swap new plug wires I even got a new thermostat too, it's been running pretty cold lately now that the weather has changed. Man I should start the "if you got hesitation try this" thread. Lets start the list. plugs wires cap rotor fuel filter air filter clean and test MAF sensor and housing (mass air flow) clean and test IAC (Idle air control) test TPS (throttle positioning sensor) check timing test CTS (coolant temperature sensor) test O2 sensor (oxygen sensor) fuel pump clean fuel pump inlet screen
  23. Oh i know that place, great place. I go there to get my Bosch relays. It great when I go to any other store and ask for a universal Bosch relay and I get the blank deer in the head lights look. And then when you ask these guys they walk in the back and hand you exactly what i was looking for. It's good times. Well just called them, wasn't $18 but still in the market of other "high quality" plug wires that you get at the parts place. And by "high quality" I mean crappy no name "this is the best we have" wires. Going to go pick them up and we shall see if that helps, if it does I'm so taking those crappy ones back and getting my money back.
  24. I took the MAF out and cleaned it. I will take the whole housing out in the next day or so and clean that all out. No rattling in the exhaust, but hell with almost 200k miles god only knows how clogged up that cat is. I think I may have a pump from my last project that didn't run. I may try that also in the next day or so. And where do you get NGK plug wires for $18? It seems for the most part no one even carries NGK wires, hell let alone finding anyone that carries more then like 3 plugs for what I need is hard enough. So really tell me who has them for $18. I have always had good luck with NGK so I wouldn't mind giving them a shot. the manual says to unplug it and the RPMs should change dramatically if so then it is working. I didn't take it off and clean it, but I will add it to the many things to try. I guess this is how it truly goes, you find the super clean wagon that doesn't break the bank and I am chasing the bog demon
