  1. The rotor can move somewhat when you have the wheel off since the wheel and lug nuts is what holds it solid to the hub. The caliper will move perpendicular to the rotor, as long as there is no other movement you should be OK. If the disk brake pads look good. It could be the drum brakes that are used for the parking/emergency brakes. To check them, you'll have remove the caliper bracket and then the rotor/drum will lift off. If it isn't the brakes, my next guess would be wheel bearings. My SVX made noise for a year or so before I got it repaired, but you probably shouldn't wait that long. Are the tires matched front to back and side to side?? And you should probably post over at http://www.subaru-svx.net Most of the folks here don't have an SVX...
  2. Both sets (Legacy and Brat) had different names but the one guy told me they were made by Cooper. They both had this tread pattern, but I don't think either had the "Dean" name. On this page it says that they are made by cooper, so I guess I wasn't lied to :cool:
  3. In the area that we are in, I would recommend the cheap snow tires at your local tire shop. I've paid $40-50 depending on the size. And with the AWD they are as good as you'll need. I got two winters out of them on the Legacy, probably about 20-25,000 miles. They pulled me through the occasional deep stuff and when the highway was covered with snow and slush, they allowed me to fly up and down Rte 81 at near normal highway speeds.
  4. Yeah, it will be the same codes. But now, rather than just the soob tech knowing them, we'll all know them If he can contact the dealer and they tell him what codes they pulled, that will work just as well...
  5. A loose gas cap or misfire due to plugs/wires could do it. It would probably be best to have him take it to Autozone and have them read the codes. Then if you're unsure what to do report them back up here.
  6. I uploading them now.... Go get an Ice Cream cone, they'll be up in a bit... Here ya go.... Photobucket linky
  7. I stopped by a body shop on the way home this morning, they should be able to fix it for about $450 :lol: Seriously, that trim screw has been missing, you didn't break anything. Thanks for having us up there. John, glad you made it home safely. Paul, you need to learn to put Soob events on a higher level of importance than a family event. I mean come on, you see your family every day... How often do you get a chance to see US. Connie, so you got to "hear" the racer's new exhaust. What do you think??
  8. I've "topped off" my Legacy every 300 miles for 205,000 of it's 245,000 miles and have never had a problem. I did recently have a problem that the bottom of the filler pipe rusted out though. Maybe pull the cover that is under the rear seat or in the trunk to see if you can find the source of the leak??
  9. Yeah, we know... That's why we all speak slowly and use "little words" when you're around :-p
  10. I stopped in Yonieville today to pick up 2 dozen ears of Bread and Butter .... YUMMM It looks sweet and juicy :slobber: The best part is that as I was driving away from the roadside stand, Bucky's twin pulled into the stand :D:D
  11. You made the right decision... Best bet is to give me a call sometime, or PM a number for me to call...
  12. Does anyone know how to let Jesse know about this?
  13. These are the "Sunburst" rims from the USMB wheels page; These are the ?Saab? wheels on Jesse's Brat;
  14. "Saab" was stamped on them somewhere?? Or maybe I'm completely wrong?
  15. I know of a member that has Saab wheels on his Gen 1 Brat. I'm not sure what year Saab they are from, but they do have some years that fit. Here is a picture;
  16. We had a FWD Imp transmission in our AWD SVX racer for a short time. The wiring was plug and play. At WOT it didn't shift right from 1st to 2nd, We would have to go off the gas as it shifted. But otherwise all was fine. At the rear, either he can leave the rear diff and axle's in place or remove them and source a couple of axle stubs off of a front wheel drive imp or leg.
  17. Probably, we would be leaving the WB/Scranton area sometime around 11. Give me a call when you know what your plans are...
  18. CORN!!!!! Looks like a lot of food, don't get too carried away;)
  19. The early Legacy turbos, as well as the EA82 based turbos, do need to be "cooled down" after hard driving.
  20. Can you tell me how many turns it is stop to stop on the manual rack?? Me and Ben are considering getting rid of the PS on the SVX Racer. The two options right now are; adding an XT6 pump or putting on a manual ea82 rack.
  21. Hmmm... Moosens just told me about this over the weekend. So I come on to check it out and it seems like it might be postponed???? No promises, but we can probably make it with the Brat if others are there...
  22. I wasn't questioning the blocked lines causing overheating causing trans failures, I was wondering about your statement about the SVX having a diff that the Legacy doesn't.
  23. :confused::confused: where did you hear this? also... They make some good products, but a number of members have had "issues" with Small Car, do some research before using them.
  24. At times:cool: but the PO abused it... If I knew what I know now, I would have passed on the one that I got. Even thought the transmissions are a week spot it is unusual to go through them like I have. It has become commonplace to swap the stock 3.54 EAT with a 4.11/4.44 EAT's or 5/6 speeds. It is a great car, as finances allow, I will probably end up with an additional one. Do your homework, read the site and figure out if it is a ride you're willing to take.
