Definately a Love/Hate relationship with mine.... I have gone through a number of transmissions (4?-5?) but I will never part with it. If you are going to get one, here are some suggestions; - Visit subaru-svx.net - Take your time in looking for the right one and be prepared to travel to get it. - DO NOT get it as your only car, I wouldn't call it unreliable, but it can get expensive if fixes need to be imediate. - Budget $$ for repairs in the first year of ownership. Depending on if the PO beat on it and your ability to do repairs on your own you should plan to spend $500 - $4000 for repairs. - There are a number of SVX's and members of Subaru-svx.net in the NW, check out a few of their meets, and get to know some of them. They will be able to help you find a great car.

Jeez, you didn't even give us 24 hours before you start to doubt that we love you:rolleyes: Let me check the scedule and come up with some days.... -
I just discovered this same problem on my 97 2.2 Legacy. According to Liberty Suabru they interchange to most 90's Imps and Legs with the 2.2. I'm not sure why the difference between these and the 1.8/2.5???? If I can't find a decent match at the junk yard, I plan to remove the neck and cut it up where there is still good metal, then replace the 6" hose that currently connects the neck to the tank with a two foot hose.

If it happens while at idle and not moving, it has nothing to do with the wheels, bearings or driveshaft. Nipper was right that the motor mounts are fairly strong, but if the engine wasn't supported properly when your transmission was removed, there's a good chance they were ripped at that point. With the car on ramps, get underneath and inspect the two mounts between the engine and front crossmember. If you can use a jack to push up on the oil pan while your inspecting them. DON'T lift the car using the oil pan, just put some pressure on it to raise the engine a bit.

Crap... Sorry to see that. I was reading the PR you wrote last week, where you wrote of the stumps hidden at the side of the road Good luck on the rebuild. -

WTF??? You really do need to make it to one of these.... I guess this is just more incentive for all of us to get our buts to CT??? -
Do you still have that EA81 passenger fender we talked about a few months ago?? If you can bring it great if not I'll grab it later this summer.

...anyone see the "Mythbusters" episode where they tried to duplicate the "Mr Bean" stunt of painting a room with a can of paint and a stick of Dynamite????

For parts, the best bet from Subaru is Liberty Subaru in New Jersey. Their online pricing isn't the best but if you call them up the are great at looking up parts and their pricing is better over the phone. Plus they only charge the actual shipping charge and they ship fast, coming from Jersey it is usually here the next day with standard shipping. For things like the mirror, try www.car-part.com this is an online junkyard database, when you find one usually it is better to call than use the email link. I just did a quick search and there are many different colors available close to you for $20-$75.

The one year, one of the clubs assembled a kit car from start to finish, so I don't think Carlisle has any issues with something like this... Does this mean you're not bringing the rally car??

Whatever it takes, you should definately stay...
