  1. Well today was a good news/bad news day for the Brat. The good news is I made the trip to PhatBrat's to pick up the High Topper, now she's already to get sealed up for winter :D Then... On the way home I decided to stop and play around on some fire service roads. We were having a great time, it was the first I've had the chance to shift it into 4wd in a while. Then, CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK I hit the brakes and throw it into FWD and Neutral thinking I lost a U-Joint. I crawl underneath and see the front of my rear diff pointing towards the ground . The bracket that is welded to the torsion bar has rusted/broken loose. I swear a little, trying to figure out the next step and decide that the best bet is to use some cargo straps to tie the rear diff up in place and limp it home. So I guess I need to get that tab rewelded to the torsion bar? Any other ideas? I took some pictures, I'll stick them up later.
  2. I believe it is supposed to do that... AC helps to dry the air to aid in defogging (for the same reason, your "Recirc" button is disabled during 'Defrost" use) and it also forces use of the AC compressor during the winter months to prevent the seals from drying out.
  3. New exit 286 How were they??LOL "SVXpert" on the board has or works at a shop in South Jersey somewhere... Not sure how close to Philly, but I seem to recall he is fairly close. Also, there is a good place up near me, probably about 1:30 from Philly.
  4. That works out to about $164 US. How much of that is shipping? Would group buying/shipping reduce that?
  5. You can find a SVX for under $6000 and keep the other $4000 on hand for repairs. :D:D You won't be disappointed :D:D Even with all of the extra expenses I have had with mine, I'm glad I bought her :D
  6. What model/year do you have?? I haven't had this problem with the CC on any of my current or past Soobs.
  7. I have a dial thermometer hanging in my vent (Like the ones used for cooking) In the Legacy it will get as low as 40* in weather up into the 80s. I just converted the SVX to 134 last night and that will get below 50*.
  8. Just the other day I had my stock 86 Brat 4spd/DR to 93 mph (gps) on a very slight upgrade of the PA Turnpike.
  9. Ben's boardname is Beerheart, but I don't see him too much on the board.
  10. OK, give me a couple of weeks and I'll have it right down to ya' Thanks for the offer, and I'll keep that in mind, but for now I don't want to lift it. Just looking for another inch or so... Thanks also for posting the extra photos. I really think the acceleration/gearing would be better with just a little bit larger wheel. There is plenty of low end that seems to be wasted and not much left once I get above 70... I'm not planning on doing any major offroading, just playing around on some trails and such
  11. Actually all 8 are fairly bald but the 15's actually have a little more tread than the 15's.
  12. I noticed that also... We had one of the Subarubicon videos playing at the tent, and I guess whoever wrote the article had the wrong assumption???
  13. I've had her for almost two months and I'm finally getting some shots online. You can see the Silver Targa stripes I got from Ed Dahl. I have shots of the standard wagon wheels that I got her with and with a set of 15" Pugs that I got at the yard. I like the look alot better with the pugs, and I like the way it drives too. But I have a question, the Pugs came from the yard with 195/60-15's (real crappy with dry rot and cracks) and I was expecting more of a "lift" from the stock 185/70-13's. But a few measurements I took show the same clearance between the two sets of wheels???? Using a tire size calculator I was expecting 1/2" or so difference. There seemed to be a lot of room all around, maybe I'll go with a bigger size??
  14. RS, other independant electonic shops, Autozone, Napa, etc. Just make sure it is designed for electronics...
  15. Ed Dahl is the one that sells them on EBay. I just recently got the 2 piece set for mine. They are great Email Ed directly to avoid the EBay hassles. DahlEd@aol.com I got the silver to put on my black Brat.
  16. 4 options--- 1st Look at the trottle, there are two cable to pull it... One goes through the firewall to the loud pedal, the other goes to a vacum canister in the engine bay, just under the driver's side windshield wiper. Check out the vacum hose attached to the other side of that canister, make sure it is on tight, mabe use a wire tie/clamp to be sure it is. 2nd Another issue may be dirty contacts in the switch on the steering wheel, shoot some contact cleaner in there and work the crap out of that switch to clean it out. 3rd Auto or 5 speed, if 5 speed it could be the switch on the clutch pedal, on one of my old wagons, I had to hold the pedal up with my foot to use the CC. 4th Could be the brake switch like you said
  17. I don't know first hand, but was told by a mechanic I use for the trucks at work that he has seen copper brake lines expand to the extent that it seems like there is a leak. But, the fluid didn't leak out, just filled the expanded lines.
  18. Thanks for all the information, now... So what happens if i take them off with the stock carb?? One on them is leaking where the small tube attaches. Will it affect the performance at all? The only emissions testing that I have to worry about is a visual check, and if the parts guys at the dealership aren't sure if it should be there, I'm pretty sure the yocal doing the inspection isn't going to have a clue... Where do those tubes go to at the other end?? What do I have to do there?
  19. No problem Jay, hope you can make it to the next one, You had a nice RX last year, can't wait to see it again. Where is Bent Mountain, is it anywhere close to Sperryville/Woodville, I'm heading down for my Uncle's wedding this weekend...
