  1. Yeah there is a definate difference between the two. The only other soob door that I have been inside of that has a cable drive is the SVX. And that regulator is slightly different. A couple of guys on subaru-svx.net have mentioned that they replaced the cable with brake/gearshift cable from a bicycle shop.... I do have a passenger side XT regulator in my basement that I can get photos of if you need help with the spooling... email me if I can help
  2. Just reread what I wrote... boy this this get away from the initial question.. Thanks again to Zap for the only straight response:) Matt, Redneck isn't a Brat in the basement, it is a Dodge in the living room:lol:
  3. What wife??? Zap, thanks for the answer. I'm looking at one, we came together on price I just need to get some other issues sorted out...
  4. Can anyone help me out with the overall width of a Gen 2 Brat (or any EA81 I guess??) I am looking for the widest point across the tips of the mirrors. I need to know if it will fit into my basement, or if I need to make the doorway larger.
  5. Just registered the Legacy as a second car #2947 So, if anyone wants to go, but doesn't have a Soob to drive let me know...
  6. Yeah, the SVX is already registered with plans of showing yours up :D But I also plan on registering the Legacy. BTW if anyone wants to go, but needs a Soob to drive, let me know.
  7. Don't worry about that... I'm registering my 97 Legacy L Sedan with 185,000 miles. In preparation for the show I plan on washing it:) Maybe sweep the carpets if I get some time... This is as much about getting together with other Subaru Nuts as it is to show your car. So bring that high mileage commuter and show all those fans of other manufacturers just how great our Subarus are. Whether they are '78 wagons, super modified Brats, XT6's, SVX'x or just everyday DL's, Impreza's, Legacy's and Outback's.
  8. It deals with the Import Car Show in Carlisle PA held the weekend of May 22nd. If we get 25 cars registered the promoters put up a tent for us and Moosens makes Lasagna:) If we don't everyone that shows up is spread all over the field and we eat overpriced greasy consession stand food Last I looked we had 18 cars registered, only seven more to go.
  9. One of these times I need to get up back there and help out.... But that is the weekend of the SVX meet:grin: Soon... Soon...
  10. Yummmmm..... What about that Lasagna you talked about??? Is there going to be a grill/firepit there?? Or or we going to be breaking into a nearby house to do the cooking?? I can bring some grub also. Let me know. Maybe some lamb....
  11. Does anyone know the compatibility between drive shafts over various years and transmissions for an XT6. Looking to replace the rear section from a 91 Automatic. I know of an 88 5 speed in a yard with insanely low mileage that is in good overall condition. I have a feeling the shaft should still be in great shape. The shaft out of the 91 measures to 32.5” from flange to flange.
  12. I'm not quite sure if I should laugh or be offended??? But anyway, barring any unforseen breakdowns the SVX will be there.
  13. So now the three MUST sees of the meet; -SubaruBrat's newly finished Brat -Jay's Polished and Muddied RX -Paul's elusive '78 wagon This is gonna be a heluva show!!!!
  14. The weather broke and we were finally able to work on the XT6 again yesterday. After disconnecting the entire spindle from the strut and tie rod, we pulled the shaft out from the car to find that the circclip was indeed still on the axle stub. I then removed the axle stub from the DOJ and hammered it back into the diff. The stub went back into place and stayed in place Then to stick the shaft/spindle assembly back in place and finally get the NEW ball joint together (the project that started this all) Everything went back together smoothly and the rain started just as we were cleaning up the tools. Thanks to all for your advice and guidance. <now it is time to do the other ball joint > Except now I have 1/2 a clue
  15. It better be... Your Brat and Jay's RX make the trip worth the drive for half the country:D :D Jay, "Soobie Porn" = Pictures of Subarus that cause excitement and arousal... This is definately Soobie Porn :slobber:
  16. Here is a shot of the Front Diff of an XT6; What all needs to be taken apart to replace the Circlip on the Axle Shaft? Is it possible to do this without completely removing the diff? For some background on the problem check this out; oops....
  17. Craig, Unfortunately, I think you are correct.... Here is another photo...
  18. I'm working on a XT6, 4wd. Was working on replacing the ball joint on the passenger side. Trying to lift the hub back up into position and the axle gave loose from the trans... Is this right, what needs to be done next??
  19. This coming Thursday (3/4) may work for me, otherwise maybe next weekend (3/6 or 7) Let me know.
  20. Get this man a Cigar!!! Finally got it fixed:) The other week, I cut away the connector under the dash, and soldered all the wires together. That didn't work:( This weekend we took the pod apart and found the switches to be exactly as Mark described. All the lights now work just as they should. I had planned to take some photos and post them up to help others but I forgot the camera. We have plans to take the pod apart again, I'll try to remember the camera next time.
  21. I saw the GT Sedan and got to sit in the GT Wagon at the Philly Auto show last weekend. I can not wait!! I stood and stared, and watched as the sedan spun around on the platform.... In-frikin-credible ps, for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, go to need-desire.com
