Cool:D We need some pictures... But the big question, is there any rust in the bed?? -
What triggers the dash "Brake" light to turn on. I know when fluid is down and when the E-Brake is pulled. What else will trigger the light? The car is an XT6, the light will come on dimly when the brakes are pressed. The fluid has been checked and is full. Any thoughts?

OK, here's the deal... The car is a '91 XT6 Parking Lights on, all is fine. Turn the Headlights on, and the Dashlights go out???? The night before this started the headlights stopped going down??? I checked the connector under the dash and found a white 4-way plug that seemed to be the one for the lights, it was a little toasty. I cleaned it out and checked both sides with a test light. Seems to be making connection. Sprayed contact cleaner into the Light Switches on the pod and worked them, to no avail??? I found the wiring diagram for the foglights through a search, but it doesn't seem to have the details on the headlight's wiring. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the headlight/parkinglights. Also, when I check for voltage on the headlight motors, should there be a constant voltage in the up position, a constant voltage in the down position, or just a pulse of voltage when the headlight motor should be running?? If it is a pulse, does polarity reverse for up/down? Thanks in advance for any help, tips. edit: I also checked voltage on both sides of all the fusible links by the battery, and they all checked out

Anxiously awaiting the DVD release… -
Again I apologise for the lack of details... It is an auto, so no hill holder involved. The dust seals were pretty tore up, are they part of a caliper rebuild kit? What else is in the kit? Meeky, Set and Ben, thanks for the tips. I'll be checking it out tonight.

Sorry for the lack of info.. It is an XT6, so it has disks on all 4 wheels.

My friends soob is losing Brake fluid. When it gets low there is a grinding noise noticed. Is there any relation between the two, or just a coincidence??? A few weeks ago we did a lot of work to the front and rear brakes, everthing was fine until this past Saturday, she noticed a grinding, checked the fluid and it was low (just above the where the float would make contact) she added fluid and they sounded fine. Yesterday the fluid level was fine. This morning the grinding was back, and again the fluid was low. WTF? Any hints tips on isolating the leak? My method is to pull the wheels one at a time and poke around for leaks. THanks

Snow Fun
Hocrest replied to Hocrest's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
I was waiting for that one:D Thankfully most of the guys from that meet don't visit the New Gen side. -
We only got a couple of inches, but enough to have a little fun. I wanted to check out the new snow tires, so I took the Legacy into some forest service roads at a local state forest. Had a good time, and the tires did well with one complaint. It took a lot of work to get the wheels spinning for donuts. I went alone, so there are no action shots. I did however get a nice portrait of the Legacy with my new rims and tires. Not bad for about $200.

I've been suckered....maybe a bit winded
Hocrest replied to kecksnext's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Mike, Sorry to hear about this. I was going to send you an email tonight asking if you got it, then I saw this post. What is happening with it? Is it just the rear? Will it inflate at all? Can you hear it leaking? -
Are you thinking of adding a Forrester to the stable? I'm sure you have been in all the local yards looking for seats, but I'll keep my eyes open if I get out. What color are you looking for? I'm looking at some bearing jobs on both of mine and have been talking to Benebob about helping with his Brat and XT6. Keep in touch about yours. Depending on how quickly you get to it I will either be looking to learn or may already know how to do them. With the addition of the SVX, I've stopped my search for a Brat right now. What little money left over after repairing the SVX is getting set aside to pay for the speeding tickets I'll be getting.

I was talking to a friend of mine that has a OB wagon, I think it is a 99. He has about 60-70K miles on it. His speedo/odometer isn't working. As far as I know, that is the only problem. My first thought was one of the speed sensors, but wouldn't that affect shifting or throw on a CEL. I haven't seen the car, and he lives a couple of hours away. For now I'm just looking for some diagnostic help/ideas to throw his way. Thanks

Need extra battery for plow?
Hocrest replied to moosens's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
When I had my Jeep J10 with a plow I only had the stock alternator and I would get batteries with slightly more CCA than stock and never had any problems. Always had the lights on and the heater going full blast with the windows down. -
If you look around, you can find affordable rims. I just got a set of 4 Legacy alloys for $50. I got them from a local garage that specializes in Subaru's. Most salvage yards in this area sell steels for $10-15 and alloys for $15-20 each. Now I just need to decide which set of tires to get. Thanks for all the info.
