  1. I think the only way to get through NYC to Connecticut without sitting in traffic is by boat...
  2. I have something almost like an engine lift... when??
  3. In the display from my 85 with a trip computer, I had the same problem. Just use a screwdriver or something to pry the display out of the dash. I don't remember if you need to remove a cover from the back or not, but, there will be some of the "Subaru" light bulbs with the 1/4 turn plastic bases.
  4. I had a digital dash on my 85 GL... Also had the Trip Computer, Power Moonroof, PW/PL Didn't have Turbo, Height Adjustable Seat, or ride height adjustment. That was my first soob, and my first manual tranny. I miss that car...
  5. RubySuby, I think it is someone from your corner of the globe that has a Lifted Rally Blue Vortex with a wing??? I did some browsing on the BYB board, but couldn't find it. Any idea who it belongs to? Any links to photos?
  6. I don't care when it is, I'll blow off my family and come on Christmas day with events like that!!!
  7. Actually your mileage over the last year has been lousy... You've gone through about 200 gallons of gas and haven't even gone 1 mile.
  8. Just a thought, how old is the battery? Any major trauma to it lately (full discharge, etc)? Do you have a voltage meter?
  9. Standard 20 amp blade type, just like the ones in your fuse panel.
  10. Not all 95's are ODB2. That was the year they started using it, some had it, some didn't. I'm not sure but I think even the ones without it had the connector??? Maybe take it to Autozone or one of the other places that reads ODB2 codes for free and see what they come up with?
  11. I have a 97 with 167k. The next timing belt change you may need to do the oil pump. Or, at least the seals. Some say that the auto trannies aren't that reliable, but, I've done nothing to mine but drive it hard, and it still works great. The only thing that I can forsee replacing in the near future is the struts. Not that they are bad or unsafe, just a little soggy...
  12. Mtsmiths, Figure a little over 3 hours to Harry's. It is a huge yard and they have 30-40 various EA82's at any one time. Paul, Not sure if I'll get up there before PB or not to look for panels, I'll let you know. You have power windows, right? Do you want the entire panels or just the top part. I'm not sure if they come apart or not... It's been too long since I had the panels of the door of my previous wagons. Yeah, I still have the wheel, it's the 8 hole "Rally" wheel. If you still want it, I'll bring it along to Red Lion, if not, no problem. If you were looking for the H's i think there is a set on EBay.
  13. Not sure where you are in Maryland or what type of free time you have, but last time I was at Harry's U-Pull-It in Hazelton, PA they had 5 or 6 EA82's with clean blue interiors. It would be about 90-100 miuntes from Harrisburg, PA if you know how close you are to there. You could make a side trip over, after the PB meet.
  14. EJ, no dig intended. edit: no pun intended either I like that quote of yours, and plan on trying harder myself this time;) I'll have 2 straps, you bringing your winch? As long as I don't get stuck in the middle of a 40 foot puddle, that would be embarressing...
  15. I would try the FWD fuse right away. You can be doing permanent damage running multiple sizes in AWD. These trannies are already delicate enough. No need to create more stress than necessary. If you haven't yet, you may also want to check out the forums at http://www.subaru-svx.net/news/
  16. I'm unclear about your tire sizes. Did the previous owner have 2 or 4 "smaller" tires? If 2-Did you replace the 2 "smaller" with "normal"? If 4-Did you replace only 2 and now have 2 old "small" and 2 new "normal"?
  17. 1/4 " difference in circumfrence or about .8mm in radius. Check you user manual, there should be a fuse you can put in place under the hood to temporarily disable the AWD. Try that and see if it continues to make the noise. If the noise stops with the fuse in place, get matching tires all around. Even if they are the same "size" on front and rear, different models are slightly different size, or the same model with less than 1mm treadwear difference could cause problems.
  18. For any East Coasters who don't check the Old Gen Forum; http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4335 What: Off Road Subaru Meet Where: South Central New Jersey When: Oct. 25 This is a great casual Subaru meet. Not any real difficult off road terrain. Mostly gravel and dirt "fire service" type roads, with optional side trips though some water and sandy hills. This past spring I went in my stock Legacy, had loads of fun, and came home with no damage. Any questions, ask here or over on the other forum.
  19. Ok, so I replaced the pads on my 97 Legacy with OEM, used the new shims and grease, and my brakes now squeal like a stuck pig when warm. It is only on the left side. I have taken it apart and regreased them, and they still squeal. Once they get warm and start squealing the noise stops with the whell turned to either side or when there is more than moderate pressure on the brakes. Any other ideas?
