  1. Not sure aboout in Philly, but I know a couple of places to join together once you guys get to Harrisburg. I figure some other directions will lead through there also; -Is Steve coming from WV? -Others from down south, are you coming up that morning or the night before. Paul, I'm sure Dennis wouldn't mind letting your kid hang out in his car while you race...
  2. Your post wasn't deleted, I just read it a couple of minutes ago, Its half way down the first page... I don't have guesses for either of you:(
  3. Chip, Thanks alot, the attached image is the dimension I'm looking for on the strut. Also, is that measurment on the KYB the same. And what will the KYB's do to your ride height? Thanks for your help.
  4. This is a good thread. One of the problems with boards like these is that they seem to show a majority of problems rather than praise. Generally people seek out the board and post when there is something that needs fixed. Not as many people are going to go through the effort of finding the board, registering and posting to say that everything is great. I originally found the board when I had a CEL issue, and have solved the problem plus learned so much more valuable information. Now back to topic. My current Soob is a 97 Legacy Sedan, 2.2 w 4AT. I bought it in 99 with 40K miles and now have over 160K. Over the past week I have been trying to recollect the total service costs over these 120K that I have owned it. I haven’t kept good records but I would guess that including oil changes, timing belts, brakes, an oil pump, tune-ups, and everything else other than tires and gas I have spent around $1000. And most of that bill was paying other people to do the timing belts, oil pump. I drive my car hard, quick acceleration, hard braking, tight turns. My employees call my car the “Company Jet”. I have hauled all sorts of medical equipment, through all sorts of conditions. It pulled me through the blizzard last winter when we got the 2-3 feet of snow, only getting stuck when I got cocky and tried to power through a plowed drift. I have done some mild off road driving through brush and water. Here is a link to a picture of a Brat driving through a stream/marsh that I also drove through. (this was with the East Coast/ New Jersey Pine Barrens meet, there is another coming up in Oct-Nov if anyone is interested. Other than a dead battery it has never left me set. It has at times been neglected going 7K between oil changes. I don’t burn or leak oil. And there is only a slight decrease in power over that time. I have never done anything to the AT and it still shifts like it did 4 years ago, at this point, I’m afraid to change the fluid and let the “magic” out. I don’t want to take up more space praising my 5 previous Soobs, but the stories would be similar. I love my Soob and have talked friends and family into buying them. I will be buying another one before too long. (May wait for the turbo legacy)
  5. Here is a page of bearings I can get for wheelchairs. Let me know if any of them would work. http://www.aftermarketgroup.com/products_wheelchair.cfm?key=1 choose Product Group - "Wheel and Caster Parts" then Selection - "Stem Bearings" or "Rear Wheel Bearings"
  6. Are you going to replace them with OEM? If so could you do me a favor and take a couple of measurements of the new ones before you install them. -From the bottom to the top of the cone where the spring rests -The length of the untensioned spring email if you want hocrest@earthlink.net Thanks
  7. Look for a switch on the top of your steering column. check this out... http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2814
  8. Just a shot in the dark, but... I had a EA-82 that acted sort of like this, the Cat was clogged and as it heated up it would block completely and not allow any acceleration. Ripped apart the cat and it ran great.
  9. From the website; http://www.wandlsubaru.com/en_US/f_MiscPage_3.chtml
  10. I don't have a helmet, but I won't be close to breaking 14 seconds. Where do you wana race?
  11. The only 2.2 OBWs were in 95 and maybe 96??? The Outback Sports had the 2.2 until 2000 or 2001 I think.
  12. They don't really give an address other than saying on Rt 235, two miles north of Rt 522. Here is a link to the Track's site, they recomend AGAINST using Mapquest... http://www.beaversprings.com/
  13. because we are stubborn, bull headed and resistant to change... :-)
  14. The 2.2 is a great engine, some have problems with the 2.5, so if you're happy with the 2.2 you have now stick with it. The auto tranny that matches up to 2.2 doesn't have quite as good of a reputation as the engine. However I have put 160K HARD miles on it and have done nothing to it. I will probably look for a 5-speed next, but just as a personal preference, not because I don't like the auto. The six cylinders are getting good reviews so far, but you would have to jump up to a 2002(?). How many miles do you have on your 91? As far as the lift, you can enhance the struts/springs or their are a couple of lift kits floating around now. There is a recent post about it, should be on the 1st or 2nd page.
  15. Yes, a 20 amp is correct. If you haven't yet, do a search under the New Gen Board for "Binding" or "torque bind"
  16. Here is a link to a page with instructions on how to do the fix. http://www.randomsoup.com/how_acpanelbulbs.html You can get replacement bulbs at the dealer, I don't think they were any more than $5. There are 3 bulbs in there that can be replaced at the same time, 2 short and 1 long. The dealer I went to didn't have to look them up, just went right to the shelf and grabbed them. Or, you can get some leds and replace them on the bulb bases once you take them out. I did the fix the other month, pretty easy, I cleaned all the coffee, soda, dust etc. out of all the panels while I had it all apart. btw, I don't want to take credit for writing the instruction page, I just have it bookmarked.
  17. It looked to be newer, though I didn't see the grill. Nice and Shiney! The trip was great, took a picture with the Cup! There was a beer I was drinking, some sort of cream ale it came out of a broad grey tap handle. I forget what the barmaid called it but she said it was "local" any idea what it was. About 6 hours from home I realized I forgot your number. I didn't really get any further west than Toronto anyway. I was also keeping an eye out for a Subaru dealer as I drove around. I was gonna stop and check out the brand new OB but I didn't happen past any.
  18. I just got back from a trip through Ontario, spending some time in Toronto and Kingston. While walking down Yonge St I saw an newer Outback. From what I could tell, it looked like the lower panel was just painted another color rather than the plastic cladding. Are they sold that way up there? Or was this something custom? I started looking closely at all the other OB's I saw and they all seemed to have the plastic. But, I thought this may have been a 2004??? Or was this all an illusion of my drinking vacation??
  19. Some of the national auto part chain stores like Autozone will read the codes for free.
  20. You may also want to consider adding on the Subaru Tweeters if you don't have them. One of the online dealers was selling them for around $15. The wiring is already in place. All you need to do is pop off the little triangle inside of the rear view mirrors and plug the tweeters in.
  21. I don't know about these tachs specifically, but i would guess the needle is loose on the shaft.
  22. Here is the link to the posting in Meet and Greet; http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1777 No specific date yet. Looking to be sometime in October. There is also the Beaver Springs event stickied at the top of the older gen forum. Hope to see you there.
