  1. well, if the car has been launched (clutch dropped past 4k or so) enough times to sustain a lot of wear on the clutch, the clutch will disengage/engage real close to the floor. and 7 times out of 10 a car like a wrx with an exhaust has been launched before, however its hard to tell how many times until its too late....

     

    what tires are on there? that might divulge into the cars history a little more

  2. i like 5speed better than sport shift. i've spent lots of time driving mazdas, which have either manuals or the sport shifting automatics, and i must agree, the shifting gets old after a while, especially on city streets and what not. it takes one second too long to downshift (by which time you're braking anyways), and probably are more prone to breaking. manuals where always the better car to drive in my opinion. you decide when to shift, how fast to shift, and how smooth to shift. shame subaru doesn't make the 5speed gt wagon anymore....

  3. was it fully warmed up when this occured? i'm kinda puzzled, but i know that if the car is cold when you start off, the clutch can chatter and shudder and vibrate like hell in first gear while trying to get moving. once warmed though, it should not happen. of course, this might be another sign of the clutch going, which i know is happening on my car, but i dunno that fact for sure.

    im getting about 20-22 in urban driving and 27 on the highway.

    yes! no wonder i can get 30 on the highway! and 23-25 in town (18-22 in city...and there IS a difference)

     

    back to the original post - it should be about 12 gals empty when the gauge hits E, 13.5-ish if the gas pump light comes on.....then do the math for the range

  5. four on top, two in the middle on the sides (next to the headlights). the top four are easy enough, and you should be able to grab the middle of the grille and rotate it up and toward you to get it off. this is very awkward and might hurt your back there nip, so pull the grille toward you a little and use a flat head screwdriver (long shaft) to pry up the one clip on the passenger side of the grille. then pull and it should come off (you won't get at the one on the driver side because the'outback' emblem is there)

  6. To tell u the truth, it can be a good thing however it might also be a bad thing because if it fails uur screwed, but atleast with the manual one know worries. Yet its cool, but as nipper said u need to get all thosse sensors installed and a motor for the ducts. It would prob be a easier hook up in my 93 leg because it has a push buttom climate where u ppush ac and it switches all the vents and turns on ac.

     

    yeah, thats the biggest turn-off for me and actually doing something like that is the fact that electronics tend to fail as they age (in my experiences, they fail all the time) aand, while its cool to look at, it won't really do anything i can't do already (except be non-sticky until coffee spills on it from the bad placement of the cupholders)

  7. no one tested the 06 na models because:

    a) its about the same as the 05 model (close enough in magazine world, i guess)

    B) the gt version finally grew a turbo

    c) they are too busy talking about porsches and ferraris... (who wants to read about sensible, reliable subarus anyways)

     

    don't despair. take it to a drag strip and test it yourself. have a friend with a stopwatch to time the 0-60 while you blast off for a quarter mile time.
