true, all the muscle car shops use "seasoned" engine blocks and they rebuild everything on it (pistons, heads, crankshaft, everything). by using a 200k motor and adding 200 hp, you will also need to rebuild everything on it. i think the ej205 would be perfect, lots of aftermarket parts that are easy to install, and would make your wagon as fast as a stock wrx for less than half the price. and its rhd! :slobber: :slobber:

thats a pretty large number to push from that motor. it would be hard to get over 200 hp on an ej22, and finding an ej22t that doesn't have eleventy million miles to start on would be difficult as well, let alone the 300 hp goal. get 227 hp easy with a rex ej20 swap. do it jdm rex style with a ej205 swap. i dont think the engines you mentioned can produce that much reliably without making you refinance your house.... but it is easy to learn how to shift. just sit shotgun in a five speed in the junkyard and shift with your left hand for a few hours. pedals are all in the same spots, so no confusion there they do have a different shifter. in usdm cars, the shifter is bent ever so slightly to the passenger side of the car so that your knee won't pop it out of first. jdm, ukdm, and audm (?) cars should have the shifter angled to the passenger side as well (to the left, hopefully you're still with me here....), so you'll need a jdm shifter. that should be one of the very few special parts you'll need

whoa, thats a lot of trouble to go through.... all i did was steal some cutting wax from the dealer i used to work at (you can buy or steal something similar from wally world, its called cutting fluid, and it usually says it will "remove or hide scratches"....), rub it on, wait a minute or two, and rub/buff off. then go back over with wax. the trouble i have is that i took off the headlights to do this, and wax particles got inside the assembly. so, soon i'll have to take it apart somehow and wipe off the inside.... you could try the toothpaste trick (sticky-ed at the top)....dunno about your original question....

the 2001 (anywhere in the world) legacy/outback 2.5 L is the phase II SOHC. they are the ones fixed with the coolant additive. the phase I motors are the DOHC commonly found in the 1996-1999 (1998 legacy/outback in austrailia, japan, and possibly europe) are the ones with big hg problems. you shouldn't avoid them by any means, but buy one that has already had the hg replaced. but your 2001 should be fine. just pop open the hood and count the cams. there should be two....

haha, i've done that plenty of times. 16 panels of plywood would break the roof rack of a ford taurus sw, but 15 won't. -fun fact for you guys anyways, put a cooler on it, a temp gauge, and tow away. just don't snap the chassis in the process (example: i know it can pull this 50 ton trailer full of bananas, i just know it can...)

those would cause stalling too. do you stall at all (not when forgetting to push the clutch all the way or human error, but right after start up)? maybe your air filter is clogged. or another filter is clogged. when finding the cure for a problem, start with the cheap stuff that needs constant replacement or maintainence....
