  1. I have the same problem on my 95 impreza L. Its easy to take off the side panel if you need help with that. Unfortunately, my window doesn't adjust so I have to put up with the 3mm space which is perfect at making a nice whistling sound.
  2. 12~14v doesn't hurt so bad...I've been shocked through my home outlet a couple of times and that wasn't even sooo bad. well maybe it was a bit. Anyway, don't be scared to try new stuff just take your time and don't expect to get it right away. Did you understand our explantion? Lastly, check out my post @ http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=60665 It shows you the electical diagrams but most importanly check all of your fuses in the engine compartment!
  3. I've got the Chilton and the Haynes for your car. I had a similar problem earlier and it turned out to be a dead fuse in the engine compartment. I assume you check all of those! Anyway here are some snap shots....really its just jumping around and testing all the connections and seeing where the flow of electricity stops....if you can find the wires. A lot of times the connections around the actual bulb are the problems Write back if theres anything else I can do for you!
  4. I'm certainly going to do everything suggested before opening the case up. I apprecaite your help. I was just wondering because I brought my car (Impreza L 95') in to the stealership a few months back and the mechanic said after a quick look over of the whole car that my torque bind was really bad. He said I shouldn't wait long at all. Well it did do a little shaking around turns but I just got new tires and now its not doing anything at all. Was I being scammed? Good luck with your electrical issues.... I know http://forums.nasioc.com/ has a electrical section maybe you could try. Is it taboo to mention them around here???
  5. My 95 Impreza L Auto does it only when it is sitting still, more so when in drive with break on but still a fair amount when in park. Thanks
  6. Any idea what would cause this. I'm ripping the engine out real soon and was thinking changing the mounts might fix it. Any idea where to get them? They are $74 a piece at the stealership!! Thanks - Jutboy
  7. Thanks.... so is it easy to see torque bind once you have the car up on the lift or do you have to crack open the case? I assume this case gets filled with diff fluid right? Thanks - Justin
  8. P.S. A detailed description would be great as well...I'm not really sure what I'm looking for at all, I just know what it does.
  9. Hello all!! Its been a long time! I appreciate all your help before and now am here to humbly ask for more. My girlfriend 98 Impreza Outback has some minor torque bind issues. I've done my homework and know what I'm going to do but I was wondering can you spot torque bind visibily? I'm going over to her place tommarow and want to be prepared so I can pretend I know what I'm doing! Would anyone have any pictures of good and bad transfer clutchs? Thanks a million and I'll be around! Justin
  10. I rippped thedoor panel off my driver side 95 impreza L door because the front part of the window (the part closest to the hood-I have a manual window) in down about ~5mm and it gives me a pain in the rump roast sound when I drive. I took a picture of it below, sorry for the quality, what should I do? It looks like I might be able to take off the metal keeping me from it but I'm not sure, there seems to be a lot attached to it. Thanks a lot + I have to wait to talk to my girlfriend till I can get to my other post! Jutboy
  11. Sorry for the late reply....the wattage is the same stock bulbs but what are pigtails? Thanks - Jutboy
  12. I'm looking at 98' Impreza Outback 2.2 - AWD, Auto. It happens between the 5 and 10 mile range. I first thought this was torque bind but I'm thinking not because it happens when my girlfriend goes straight as well. Please advise..if you could, tell me what you think it is and how hard/expensive it is to fix. I appreciate it very much - Jutboy
  13. Hello all, My friend has a 93 Legacy (AWD, 2.2---I'm pretty sure) and his headlights keep blowing his fuse. He replaces it and it lasts for a while then blows again. Any suggestions? Anyone have the wiring schematics? I'd apprecaite any help - Justin
  14. Hey guys....count me on the next one!!! I think I'm a member?....hopefully by then I'll have more posts + I'll have all my engine work / paint job done!
  15. Kelly Blue Book Says : 4410..I had to improvise a bit CLICK HERE TO VIEW I say too high...support the private man, not the stealership!
  16. Some 93's aren't AWD...make sure it is. I think that its an ok price....and if you an get it for less good....does it have any smells when you drive it....is the under carriage have a fair amount of oil on it....does it jerk around if you pull really really sharp turns and most importantly, when you daughter says she is willing to work on it, does she really mean she's willing to let you work on it I have a 95 Impreza L and I'm very happy with it!!
  17. Hey thanks for asking this question for me Max Power....I'm going to be ripping my engine out in about 4 weeks!!!
  18. I'll give you my 97 zx6r(f) for it...hehe. I say just hold on to it....take good care of it and enjoy the work you put into it. I bought my bike for two grand and worked on it a bunch and now I have a great bike (with mods that I wanted) and some good experience working with bikes.....I know you can get a great earlier bike, in great shape for less than 2000 grand..(I almost bought a 90 CBR 600R for 1600, in near perfect condition) Also...unless you have a good amount of experience riding street bikes (and I would argue dirt bikes only help a little) you don't want a $9000 '06 which you 95% chance drop. Also, I'd warn againist starting on anything other than a 250 for a year..but then...I play it safe....I like my life.
  19. Hehe....guess I don't get to look smart today. Thanks a bunch and I'll definitely be around
  20. I definitely am.... Well on my 95 it is exactly as the picture shows...on the 98 it is in the fuse box (but not with any special area sectioned off) and as far as I can tell there is no fuse in the slot...what the hell can I make from this? What should I do? Here are my pics....
  21. Also...when testing the duty C selenoid....do I just pull it out and connect it to the battery straight?
  22. could someone possibly post a picture of a good one and a burnt one? I realize I'm lucky if I get this. Also if they are burnt can I just clean them good and get a new gasket or do I have to replace them?
  23. I've read a lot on your forums about addressing torque bind but when I brought my car in to get checked at the stealership they said I bad "transfer clutches" what the hell is the difference and could he really tell in 20 minutes that they were bad? Thanks a lot - Justin
