Ok...I have a 95 Impreza L that I need that has a very slight jerking at low speeds.... I know what to do to address the torque bind but I also have a vent plate/seperator plate leak that I have to address. My question is, 1)Is it easier to drop the transmission or lift the engine to address the plate. 2)If I do either, will I lose my tranny fluid? Ie....should I wait three weeks address the torque bind (when I'm having my mechanic friend come and do it with me) or is it SO important to address the torque bind quickly. Thanks - Justin

hehe....it was late and I was pissed off. Ok, I have a 95 Impreza L. The cd player/mp3 players is a V3 (a pretty generic brand I assume) and all I did was replace the stock tape player. I was told the tape player worked a while ago but nothing has worked since I got the car (two weeks ago). It is hooked up to my stock speakers via a wiring harness that uses the standard color/speaker codes...this I soldered to the labeled wires they gave me which connects to the back of my unit....everything powers up fine and plays perfect except those two speakers.

Hello all, I just got my stereo installed and working and much to my dismay I run into this problem. My Front Left + Back Right speakers aren't working. I've checked my wiring multiple times (making sure my colors match up) and I tried testing with a 1.5v battery....it was wierd. I tried my front left one...nothing....tried my back right (which I knew was working) and it worked.....went back and tried my two broken ones nothing and then I went back to the back right....for the life of me I couldn't get it to static again :-\ Please Help - Any and all suggestions would be appreciated!!! WoW - Thank you so much It wasn't one of the SBF fuses it was just a regular one in the engine compartment but I checked them all with your method. I'm going to start a new thread with the problem I am now having....my front right and back left speakers aren't working. I would appreciate your help with this is as well but I am in your debt my friend...if you ever have any problems with your computer you can ask me....I'm also a professional webdesigner. Lastly where did you get the book you are using? What is the name and how can I get it. Thanks so much - Jutboy

Ok...none of my fuses have numbers associated with them....I found a section that labeled all in my Legacy Haynes book and they look identical, also my fuse box on my left wall is labeled on the cover but no numbers... so I changed the illumanation fuse and got my dashboard lights back....for some reason my dome light isn't working (hasn't since I got the car)... So I don't know what your refering to by fuse 25 and SBF-3. Could you please clarify. I test voltages after I changed the fuse and got. Green 13.57v Yellow/Green - .2v Blue/Green - .2v White/red = .2v Blue/orange =.6v Everything else nothing. Please Help

Thats how they're setup....I was working at it at night and somehow screwed up the colors. Heres the "current" situation - IGNITION+ACCESSORY OFF = no power to any wire IGNITION+ACCESSORY ON = Yellow/Blue or maybe dark green 4.11v Green = 4.11v no power to any other wires I also lost my dashboard illumination! Suggestions?

Hello there...I just bought a new cd/mp3 unit for my 95 Impreza LX. I also got a wiring harness that fits perfect and made sure to solder/heat wrap all the connections perfectly. So I hook it up and it doesn't work....my multimeter tells me 12v constant power (which is a blue/yellow lined wire) only gives power intermittently....like 10% of the time. I was thinking of running a wire from my fuse box to the stereo....any warnings about this? The fuse box isn't setup well and I'm not sure if I can located which one runs through the radio fuse...I'll definitely get a 12 constant though. Does anyone have decent wiring diagrams...my Chilton + Haynes both are completly worthless. Thanks so much - Justin

Well I'm certainly not afraid of hard work and wasting my time. Also there are no flashing temp lights. The stealership said they couldn't help me at all make my decisions and repeated multiple times "we can't predict the future". Can I put this off for about 6-8 weeks untill I get summer break (I'm a teacher) and can spend a couple days straight working on it? Also I've found some good guides on doing the t-belt, and I have the generic 1985-1996 chiltons manual and the legacy 90-98 haynes manual...are there anything other resources I should get. Does anyone one have a manual they can email me @ Justin -at- PleaseSignUp.com? I can't find much information on the Tranfer Clutches + Vents (what is RTV???) Thanks much - Jutboy!!!!!

Hey all....thanks for running such a great forum. I need your help bad. I just bought a 2.2 95 Impreza LX and brought it in to get the timing belt changed. I then was told this stuff had to be done to it. 1)Tranfer Clutches ($750) - My car doesn't rattle at all around ANY turns but they said it was bad and could destroy my transmission + driveshaft 2)Vent plate + gasket ($690) - Said they had to drop the transmission to get at at it...,also said the one I had was plastic? I couldn't find it when I looked. ALSO)Right rear Camshaft plug + o-ring, Left front cam carrier o-ring and seal, crank seal, lower timeing cover gasket and oil fill o-ring NC with VC gaskets. ($200 for all) Well that didn't make me feel good so my questions is... 1)How urgent is any of this? I looked around under the car and there is some oil stains but nothing soo bad and its got 106k on it...I don't expect it to be clean. No smells at all. 2)What can I do my self? I am pretty handy with cars and have some knowledge friends that said they'd help me pull the engine no problem if I wanted. 3)Can someone explain the methods to get the crankshaft pulley + sprocket off.....I tried putting two screws through the holes in the pulley but the plastic timing belt cover blocked them, I don't understand center punch on the flywheel and 4)Is the census to get all subaru gaskets/seals...I mean, why did they die so quick on mine....I also heard of the right stuff by permatex, what your thoughts? 5)Lastly, Am I being scammed at the dealership? Any ideas/thoughts/cautions would be soooo appreciated. Jutboy
