Really the hardest part of an EJ swap is the wiring, and its not that its hard, its just an arduous, long process of cut and splice. The motor installation istelf is so easy you could do it in your sleep! Myself I am partial to Carburators, so when i go EJ Im going carbed. Simplifies the wiring drastically.
Essentially all you need for your EJ swap is an adapter plate and a redrilled flywheel, and a harness from the car you pull the EJ. If you have a 1600 motor with the starter on top of the bellhousing, you will also need to swap out your transmission for one with the starter on the side (DR 4 speed, DR 5 speed, SR 5 speed, Legacy trans, etc...) On the Gen 2 cars I believe the slots in the motor crossmember for the mounts will have to be slotted a but as well... There are a few really good write ups here, so do a good search and gather all the info you need, then go to town!
