Interest in 4" Gen 1 lift kits?
The Beast I Drive replied to The Beast I Drive's topic in Products for your Subaru
I have 2 kits right now, but they will only fit 1978-1981 Brats. They will not fit Gen 2 Brats. Watch for a seperate thread on Gen 2 Lift Kits (coming soon). -Bill -
New 76 DL wagon
The Beast I Drive replied to The Beast I Drive's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
If I can get those tailgates from him for a decent price (mainly need the upper gate, mine has some rust) and maybe a set of bumpers that would be sweet, mine arent in the best shape, but I think they could be salvaged if it comes to that. Thanks! -Bill -

1986 GL wagon build ej swap lift etc.......
The Beast I Drive replied to greentowtruck's topic in Off Road
If you don't need it in a hurry, I need to get back up there to Jeff's place to get some parts I left behind at some point, I was just up there for the last wheelin run. -Bill -
Yeah, mine had a Weber on it. One time I ripped off the entire rear passenger side trailing arm on a stump in the mountains, there was so much rust it just fell apart when it hit. I was still able to drive it home though -Bill

I went some scary hairy places in my 1980 Brat, the only real issue it had was ground clearance. It had more than enough torque to climb anything, and it could take some really steep angles sideways. I just wish it had had more clearance, bigger tires, and a lot less rust. -Bill

The Beast I Drive replied to greentowtruck's topic in Off Road
The car has no title, so its already been stripped down to nothing, so all that has to be done is cut the frontend off. It's beefed up with 1/4" angle iron and 3/16" diamond plate -Bill -

Yes, for the rear you will need longer shocks, HOWEVER I have found that stock size front shocks for a '74 Ford F-100 are the perfect fit, you will just have to do something about the bumpstops. I just cut mine off. -Bill -

I can post what I have done to extend the shift linkage and steering shaft for this lift, but Im not really willing to do it for a vehicle I cant physically work on. Each rig is different so it's not really a one size fits all type of deal when it comes to that, but I know there are some talented fabricators in California who Im sure would be willing to do the necessary mods. -Bill -

If that dont work out for you, I have a front clip from a 87 wagon that I beefed up real good, I'd let it go cheap too. I can get some pics of it if you'd be interested -Bill -

^^^ What he said. With this lift, you may or may not need to cut the rear bumb stops off. Other than that it will bolt right in. The front is kind of a b*tch though, but you don't have to modify anything. -Bill -

So now I have a Toyota (my 2nd one too!)
The Beast I Drive replied to obk25xt's topic in Non-Soob Off Roading
Nice Score! Looks a lot like mine, only Browner... For the rear I've heard that Chevy rear springs from something or another are the way to go... I actually have a 84 4Runner frame sitting here with them on it, they are longer and with stock shackles give about 3" of lift and a lot more flex. I'd make you a deal on the ones I have here if you'd be willing to come get them. -Bill -

New 76 DL wagon
The Beast I Drive replied to The Beast I Drive's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Well, I sold the 2wd a while back, havent really done anything with the 4wd, but its probably just going to be a parts car for my 72 split-gate wagon and one of my brats... -Bill -
Sorry man, that car is not being parted out, I'm actually looking for parts to fix it. good luck finding the parts you need though
-Bill
-
The actual damage to the unibody structure really isnt that bad, and I'll be able to fix that no problem. I dont want to deal with the paint or bodywork because I just dont have time to do it, and I cant afford to pay a shop to fix it. Also, its my mom's car, and she doesnt want to drive a multi-colored wagon every day to work. We have back up vehicles, so it can sit for a while until the right parts show up. Then it will just be a matter of bolting on the new body panels and lights. Or maybe I can convince her to give it to me for my birthday..... Then I could really do something special with it..... -Bill

Looks like s*** Brian Na, thats a sweet bumper, I see what you meant about the arcs taking forever to bend, but it payed off cuz it fits perfect. I vote for at least trying out the LSD in the rear, just because you can. If you dont like it its not like its that hard to swap in an open diff... -Bill
