  1. Well, for the first time i finally get to play in the snow with the Beast. For the past 2 years since I lifted it during winter it has always been down for one reason or another, but this year it is up and running like a champ! On friday me and a few friends took it up into the hills above sunnyside and conquered some drifts, then I owned a steep snowy hillclimb that the others pussed out on Unfortunately there were no pics or video from that evening, but this afternoon me and my friend Trevor went out to the orchards and found the asphalt pads where the bins are normally loaded in the summer. It was a good day, The Beast got its legs stretched and Ive never had so much fun in a Honda Oh yeah, my buddy drives a '85 Prelude Anyway, Im waiting for my vids to upload, will add them soon. -Bill
  2. If youve got frame rot then that will be a hell of a project because these cars are unibody. Might be easier to start with a less rusty 4wd version, if you can find one cheap. But if you have mad fab skills, you can fix all the rust and/or build a subframe for it. I would say subframe it, it will add strength that you would otherwise lose when you chop the top off. -Bill
  3. Its been done a couple times, I seen pics of a really nice one, and Ive personally worked on a.... Well lets just say it wasnt pretty. Cool idea if you have the fab skills. Then you need a lift -Bill
  4. Dual Cherrybombs. Ohhhhhhh yeaaaaaah. Sounds even better than it looks -Bill
  5. I guess that would work fine, until 109 degree weather unless you have a bad a$$ properly working cooling system, I have 1 fan on my RX and it works fine until I let it sit and idle. Then the temp starts to rise and i dont like that. 2 fans is just extra insurance. My .02 -Bill
  6. Dude, gotta learn not to let the drifts own you. Be like me and conquer the drifts! Of course, our drifts arent 5 ft tall... What where you doing in a 5 ft drift anyway??? Time for some Matt Tracks!!! -Bill
  7. Just run 2 electric fans, have 1 run full time and the other come on with the thermo switch. Solved. -Bill
  8. Ouch, guess you wont be parking under that tree anymore... That sucks, i like that Brat -Bill
  9. Why would you want to go back? This is evolution! -Bill
  10. I did notice that those 1400 alts are rather rediculous. I would figure you could swap in an alt from say an EA81 car with some brackets from a 1600 motor, but thats all just speculation on my part. -Bill
  11. Ive been running my RX with 1 electric fan since i swapped the motor. But it hasnt exactly been warm here since I did that. Also running my mom's 86 GL wagon with 1 electric fan, but the stock fan crapped out so I put a Hayden Slimline fan on the front of the radiator. So much easier to work on it now -Bill
  12. Yes how much are they? I need at least 1, I dont know but will these fit stage 1 cars as well? -Bill
  13. what sucks for me is I have to strip parts off my Outback at night outside :-\ It sucks, but at least its not -25 here -Bill
  14. Damn, its only supposed to go to 3 here, but -15 with the windchill. Where is the frozen smiley when you want it?? -Bill
  15. Well my Brat is a Gen 1, so I am going to use EA81 control arms, for several reasons, but mostly because I will be able to use EA82 knuckles on them. Im going to lengthen them so that the front track width will be the same as that of an EA82 car so I can use the EA82 axles and so it will be the same width as the rear. For radius rods Im thinking about making them bolt towards the front of the car like on the 2wd Toyotas, which should soften out the ride a little bit too. Nothing is set in stone yet, but i plan on working on it after i get my hatch done. Brian, sorry for the Hijack, Get some more progress posted up! -Bill
  16. How did you miss my tube bumper? The tires mustve grabbed all your attention -Bill
  17. If you lift the suspension more than you lift the body from the crossmembers the camber will get screwed up and that can only be fixed with custom fabrication, I found that out on my Brat, part of why i am going to extend the lower arms and use EA82 knuckles and axles. That and to match the track width of my turbo rear end in the back. -Bill
  18. Hmm, reminds me of the 5th of July 2 years ago... Drifting into ditchbank boulders and then overtighting the lugs on the spare is not a good idea. But man it was a good day! -Bill
  19. I have corrected the camber issue on my strut tops, On EA82 cars they fit fine, but you have to do some serious bashing on an EA81 to get the spring to clear the inner strut tower. The higher the lift the more bashing required -Bill
  20. No dude, what you want is the 3.9 low range in the RX tranny, but swap a 3.9 center diff in there and put the locker on that. The RX tranny has closer ratio gears which are actually lower than the gears in the 3.9 D/R. If you were gonna get crazy try to put a 4.11 or 4.44 diff set in there with the locker and the RX 5 speed gearset with the low low range gearset from the standard D/R, with a matching 4.11 or 4.44 rear LSD. That is my dream tranny -Bill
  21. I made the strut extensions, Bratsrus1 did his Hatchbrat like this, and according to him there was no camber issues. Personally I like my strut top extensions cuz they take less time to make, just cut weld and drill. Machining those bastards takes like 45 minutes a piece :-\ -Bill
  22. Sounds good, when I get the hatch running in spring Ill hit you up for some wheelin', I have 27" ATV tires on it, Im sure you seen it -Bill
