  1. This is a wonderful event, I was only disappointed i didnt get to experience the whole shebang! I will say though, while the mud was good for the daily drivers and rally cars, it seemed pretty sad for the more serious mud rigs. I hope that can be done much better next time. I hope I can make it for the whole show next year, what a great event!
  2. just jack out the tumbler, remove all the little brass teeth and springs, stuff it back in and then you can start it with any subaru/datsun/nissan key from the 80s and older.
  3. Is that the trunk badge? Looks pretty sweet, just polish the stars and clearcoat it and it will be better than the original
  4. EA82 x member is too wide, needs to be narrowed. EA71 balljoint connects to the lower arm totally different. If you want to use EA82 knuckles, you need EA81 lower arms. The EA71 struts will fit in the EA82 knuckles. BUT, I believe you will need to make hybrid EA71/EA82 axles to fit the hubs.
  5. Frank B- Thanks for the part numbers and dimensions GD- my father has a small machine shop, with a milling machine and lathe Robbie- I just figure i can use what I have and save a tank of gas or 190 bucks for a remanufactured unit
  6. Thank you, that was pretty much what i was looking for. One other thing, does anyone know the dimensions of the bushings pressed into the body of the EA81 distributors? Are they available from anyone?
  7. all my distys are from carbed motors, Im putting it on a carbed EA81
  8. bump for wanting to be able to take this to WCSS without it stranding me far from home
  9. So I get the side marker lights from the front right? how much do you want for em?
  10. Im in need of a good distributor on the Beast, it has an EA81 in it. I remember reading somewhere something about swapping the shaft from a EA81 disty and putting it in the body of an EA82 disty and utilizing the EA82 electronics. I have a practically new EA82 disty ( has like 500 miles) and a buch of bad EA81 units. From what I saw comparing them, looks like all that would have to happen would be swap the shaft and add a spacer and shim it till its right? and that only one of the 2 mounting tabs will be used. Any help is appreciated, thanks
  11. Oh and everything should swap over just fine, but the wiring for the motor could get tricky. Or you could keep it fuel injected and replace whatever parts are missing, just swap the manifold from the DL onto the GL motor when you swap the motor and tranny in
  12. I could really use the DL corner lights if youd be willing to part with them
  13. Ive used the EA82 Y pipe on an EA81, it fits the engine directly but you have to take off those cast iron spacers.
  14. I think these will be PERFECT on my Brat, when ever i finish it, they will stick out wider on it. And the Brat has less lift, so it will fill the wheel wells better. I cant wait to get these in the mud! I can climb my haystack with these!
  15. Sorry for the wait yall, just got the tires on today, havent gotten to play in the mud yet, still have to do front wheel bearings and make a snorkel, but here are the beauties on the Beast
  16. I cant wait to get these on the Beast and get in the mud, Im anxious to see what they can do
  17. Well, lemme know if you want that tranny, then we can figure some way to get it into your hands
  18. Jerry was right, these things are like bunnies, you get one, somehow you get another, then they just keep multiplying! I have 8 and still going...
  19. Well, I plan on keeping the motor for another project, if its rebuildable, but the tranny is as good as yours. Are you going to be at WCSS this year?
  20. Went and picked up my 1972 Split Gate wagon from Jerry today 2wd, 1400(in the back ), decent body, great interior, NO CRACKS ON THE DASH!!! I will more than likely be converting it to 4wd with a mix of EA81 and EA82 parts and in the process lifting it around 6 inches. One thing I need though, is there any one out there who has a NOS door/window seal set for one of these? Or are there any available from a retailer? Pics: My Gen 1 collection
  21. Finally! Some REAL mud tires! 27 inch ATV tires on 14 inch Peugeott steelies Pretty much brand new, only used one time in the mud, they still have the rubber studs on the tread blocks!
  22. Im not sure what that plate covers, but its not the rear main seal, that is the rubber looking ring around the crankshaft, you do not have to remove the plate to change that. As far as I know...
  23. Also the Turbo manifold is 4 ports, totally different from the SPFI and carbed manifolds. You would need different head and pistons to make it work, or some kind of adaptor to mount a carb to the spider manifold and plug the injector ports, but you would still need higher compression pistons to make it run right. Blow through carbs are expensive, so if you plan on staying turbo, not the way to go.
