  1. The main reason I want to go with an EA81 version is I like the no timing belts, and its a direct bolt in to the EA82 wagon. Also, I like having something that most people would just kind of overlook. EJ power would be cool, but its just not for me. Actually, even getting into simple fuel injection is a little out of my realm, but I want to try something new. As for the EA82T, aside from the various horror stories of blown motors from upped boost, repeated head gasket repairs, and timing belts, the EA81, one of the most reliable designs ever, seems like a better platform to start from. Thanks for the input guys! -Bill
  2. If only it were that easy then there could be peace and order in the world.... Or if not at least we wouldnt have to care
  3. eh, not really lookin for a RAM motor, way out of my price range. I may try mixing and matching parts from other kinds of motors, but who knows. it'll prolly be a while before any action is taken on this rig anyways, knowing me, I can start a project just fine, finishing it is the problem :-\ Already got about 10 car projects goin, all stalled, not to mention trying to get started remodeling the house Im movin in to. Maybe its time to re evaluate my priorities...
  4. Thank you GD, thats exactly the kind of info I was hoping for. I figure getting larger, higher tensile bolts for the manifold, as well as some kind of "better" head stud set up (for lack of a better term) and metal head gaskets and a custom fuel management like Megasquirt, and an intercooler, stiffer valve springs, maybe a little more boost would be possible? Ill have to look at the differences between the EA82T and EA81T pistons, I figure the EA82 parts would be easier to come by and would still be low compression. How reliable do you think something like this could be, Im aiming for about the same power as a mildly hopped up EA82T, so like 115-120 hp?
  5. Now THAT looks like a valuable volume of information for this kind of project
  6. ahh yes... we dont park on her lawn, and it is my Dads farm, so she has no say in the matter, god knows she's tried
  7. lol yeah, lucky for me my dad has more cars than me I can do whatever I want to anything I want. Just argue that if youre workin on your cars you wont be out on the streets gettin in trouble
  8. Sounds like with some major components, and a little work, and a lift, it would be a good off road project, wouldnt have to worry about trail damage
  9. ha, just gather up a couple squirrels and trow em into one of those hamster wheels, youll get about the same power as the engine had anyways
  10. its all good, Im sure it did a number on the wagon. Brace up the front end with some angle iron and square tubing and make a wheeler out of it
  11. I been there man, try findin parts for a 88 Eagle Medallion Im glad Subarus are plentiful near where i live. Interestingly enough, the fuel pumps on the Eagle mentioned above and the EA82 Turbo cars are practically identical came in handy one night
  12. Oh yeah, any EA81 fender will work on any EA81 rig. same with the cowl vent thingy.
  13. with my 31's, when my speedo shows 55, Im doing about 70. its more accurate at lower speeds.
  14. thats prolly the best way to go. I too need new doors, both sides fo rmy hatch. Just replaced the fenders today. After the doors its time for the new paint good luck with yours
  15. looks like you were about a link off on the passenger side with the bumper, but other than that it is F***ing SWEET! Paint it John Deere Green!
  16. GMC Sonoma, or S-15. Both just re badged S-10, but the S-15 is SUPPOSEDLY heavier duty. Personally, they are all built just like a rock, they sit there and do nothing.
  17. wagon doors are a few inches too short. Brat doors or maybe coupe doors would work, but the 4 door doors wont do.
  18. I dunno, since there doesnt appear to be turn signals in the bumper, Im startin to think Ford Ranger...
