  1. 40 bucks of muffler would keep it quiet. Im a serious cheapskate and a $40 muffler isnt that bad. Guess you could scavenge one from a junkyard for less though As for aftermarket exhausts, I like to make my own. Im a Cherry Bomb person myself, I did duals on mine, one off each head, then they come out at an angle under the rear doors. Sounds freakin amazing! I guess it is a bit loud though, when i drive through town at 11 at night, a lot of car alarms seem to go ff when i drive by... It kinda sounds like it wants to be a racecar I have a liking of loud cars though, it must be a young kid thing
  2. Yes, Jerry knows what he is doin I have seen his collection and his work is pretty impressive, he's a very innovative guy and he knows a lot.
  3. wow those are cool! I dont know how you would get a set though. Internet?
  4. Something like this hasnt happened to me in a Subaru, but I had the drivers side front wheel fall off of a 97 F-150 out in bumbf**k nowhere one day. Kinda interesting story; me and a friend i worked with during the summer where out on our rounds way out past Royal City (Bumbf**k nowhere) and i was having some fun . Anyway, I was drifting on a gravel road that i drifted on regularly, except today i think i was going just a tad too fast. I cranked the wheels, and the truck went straight, so i yelled Oh S**T! cuz I had to avoid the Telephone pole i was headed for now. I got it right between the pole and the support cable, so no body damage (other than what was already there). I did manage to flatten both driver side tires though :-\ . So I put in in 4x4 and backed it out of the 4 foot dirtdile I managed to lodge it in, and changed the flatter front tire. I tightened all 5 lugnuts, I made sure of that. So were drivin along, and I knew i f**ked something up, cuz it was making lots of weird noises, but i really didnt care, the truck is a piece of crap anyways. We drove it for about 3 hours out to Quincy and in the surrounding areas and we were on our way back towards Royal City. We made a left turn goin pretty fast, and it sounded like the axle was gonna go, so we slowed down. Then, as we were about to make a right turn, I thought the axle had snapped, cuz it was clunking loudly. All of a sudden, WHAMM! the driver side front wheel is lodged in the upper wheel well. We skidded about 40 feet, and if we had been goin along at the speeds we had been earlier (as opposed to the 10 mph to make the turn) we prolly wouldve rolled it. So we got to sit around the truck, which was lying helpless in the middle of the road, for about 4 hours waiting for a tow truck to come from Moses Lake. Oh and it was the 5th of July, prolly the hottest day of the summer over where we were this year. Luckily we were getting paid for the time . I only found 2 of the studs, they had the nuts on them, and all 5 were sheared off completely. PICS!!! The studs I found The truck in the middle of the road Look Mom! No lug nuts!!! Boss man never did find out what actually went down that day... .
  5. BFH, Liquid Wrench, and a torch in the right combination will usually do it. Could try using a slide hammer of some kind too, make some sort of half rump roast disposable attachment and weld it to the axle cup, then yank on that mother.
  6. Ding King actually kinda works sometimes if the dent isnt too horrible. Do they even still sell those anymore???
  7. Not to sound like a hippie here, but cant we all just get along?
  8. Mine arent custom, they read 930-NAZ. kinda want NO-NADZ, due to the lack of power...
  9. Hell i have prolly 3 grand just in repairs in my 87, and I know it aint ever gonna get me more then 1000 bucks unless someone really really REALLY wants it. Appraisal is the way to go, insurance is a legal scam anyways (thats my humble opinion)
  10. is it carbed? I say take off the air cleaner, and unload like 3 cans of carb cleaner down that bad boy! Then see if you can get the exhaust to flow free-er, and check the ignition timing to make sure its not retarded, and make sure there are no vaccuum leaks. Thats what I started with, but I just couldn't leave well enough alone... Anyways, yeah, thats what i would do -Bill
  11. sounds like belts, happened to me a couple times in my mom's wagon, so that would be the first thing I'd check
  12. my guess would be prolly about 2/3 as common as the d/r wagons. I have based this assumption on absolutely nothing Hope you find one -Bill
  13. I think the d/r 5 speed was available in the gl up to 1990, but Im not sure 100%. Late 80s would be your best bet
  14. me likie... Reminds me of... mine only better
  15. Hey, I'm in Toppenish, but i have a large shop and fabrication equipment, and the skills to use it, so if you still need someone to help you fill orders, let me know. I have lots of free time during the week, and i could use some money, and shipping isn't a problem, so if you want to like send blueprints and have me make stuff that would work great, but let me know what you think. -Bill
  16. check the timing belts? could have stripped teeth, and it cant hurt to look
  17. I dont know if this will help, but when my ea82 wagon had this problem it was because of teeth getting striped off the belts because of a bad bearing in the idler pulley. I had just replaced them too. just a thought.
  18. Itried the propane heater in my old chevy, it didn't work out that well. There is no fan on it, so the heat just stays over by the heater, and I just kept freezing
