  1. all i can say is, probably, but I don't really know. Try backflushing the heater core and see if that helps.
  2. what you have is basically what i started with, same color even. I wish mine had come with a weber though..... Lucky
  3. Mine did the same thing, the tach bounces around on cold mornings for a little while, but i have a brand new distributer in it, so it could be the lube problem, or just a funky electrical glitch, but I don't think it's too much of a problem
  4. I know most of us have done it at least once, some of us do it on a regular basis, so what's your story? How did you break your first subaru, or what was your worst incident, or the funniest, or so on? I broke my first axle on the Beast about a month after i got it runnin, muddin in a corn field! This was back before I lifted it too. Nuthin but trouble since then
  5. Sounds like retarded timing to me, could be ignition timing, which would be easy enough, but you might check to make sure the valve timing is correct also
  6. you have the axle on 180 degrees off, I had the same problem. pull it off the stub shaft and rotate it 180 degrees and the pin should fit fine
  7. Hybrids really aren't that fuel efficient anyway, unless you have a Prius or an Insight. Most hybrids, including camry, civic, accord, escape, and the like don't get much better than 40mpg at best, and for the most part Subaru is one of the most fuel efficient cars on the planet, and I don't think they have even considered hybrids
  8. I know, but it would be nice if there was a head for ea81 that had both, dual intake ports and dual exhaust. hhmmmmm.....
  9. yeah, what they said, mine was the same way, except it was all the time, cuz my engine was one big oily mess
  10. did you take off the strut? That always helped me, Ive replaced the axles on my car 3 times and once on my mom's gl
  11. oh, I was just wondering, cuz it would be cool to have a port for each cylinder on an EA81, and the smaller combustion chambers would make more compression.
  12. the bluebook on a car like that is only like 1000 bucks anyways, so 2 grand seems kinda steep, but it could be worth it, but you should see it in person first
  13. I have no problem with smokers. Obviously these cars are allowed on the streets, I sure haven't heard of any type of a recall for insufficient smog control equipment. I know my car is illegal, but I got pulled over one day, and the stater took 15 minutes to find anything wrong with my car, and he only cited me for an improper lift(which was complete bull****, I got that cleared up in court) and not having mudflaps. Ha.
  14. it dumps out to the side, right under the rear doors
  15. they don't get tested cuz they aren't major manufacturers like Ford or Honda, they are independents, and in theory their exhausts pass tests, but real world testing shows they don't. These guys are in the game for performance, not smog control, so I just don't think they really care
  16. I didn't just lose the cat, there is no emissions at all on my car. And nothing is simpler than 4 ft of pipe and a glasspack off each head.
  17. I read an article in one of the car mags that was about aftermarket tuners like Saleen and like 6 other companies that mod Vipers, Mustangs, Corvettes, and the like, and not a single one of these STREET LEGAL performance cars that are driven off the lot every day passed a smog test.
  18. It's a definite possibility, especially with a 20 year old cat or a high flow cat. To make it be free-er flowing, the honeycomb material has to be bigger, so more gasses make it out to the atmosphere. I talked to the guys at Flowmaster about those, and they said there really isn't any improvement with their cats over stock ones anyways. Oh, and I LOVE hydrocarbons btw
  19. Yeah, i know what you mean, me and my dad went in there once to get some snow wheels for my mom's GL, but that was a while back and they didn't have the wheels inside, so went and touched everything
  20. Hey, i know this isnt really on topic, but I was wondering if anyone knows if you can put 1100 or 1300 heads on an ea81? Anyway, back on topic, sweet ride man! If you want a decent rendering of your idea for the completed car, let me know and i'll sketch somethin up!
