  1. I don't see why some of yall think its such a big deal to run without a cat. Like it has been said, it is a personal choice, and IF the law catches on, oh well, we'll pay the price. I personally don't run cats because I try to make things as simple as possible on my cars, so that there will be less that can fail. That simpler is better mentality applies to pretty much everything I do. The more complex something is, the more likely it is to fail. Also, as a side note, a lot of modern high performance cars that do run cats, like Saleen Mustangs, don't meet or even come close to emissions standards anyways.
  2. Ive noticed that every time i go down to Poor Boys, webers is closed. do thy not work on Saturday? Also, I know where that scrap place is, Im gonna have to look into that, cuz I may have seen him around
  3. there's one just west of yakima, as you go towards Naches, I thinks it's called Poor Boys, but I'm not sure. When you get to the first light after you pass the 40th avenue exit, turn left, and it will be on the left side of the road. I go there for all kinds of stuff, their prices are real reasonable, and they usually have a ton of subaru stuff, especially ea82. Good Luck -Bill
  4. I don't believe in catalytic converters. Real cars don't need them, so why should Rob's Roo?
  5. The fuel pum is rightin front of the rear suspension crossmember on the passenger side, really easy to get to, just unbolt the guard plate and it's right there, really easy to change. If replacing the fuel pump is the problem, make sure the accelerator pump on the carb is working, I had a similar problem on my car. -Bill
  6. Ive noticed that if your car has a problem and you take it to a mechanic, the problem seems to magically disappear for the time the mechanic has it, but once you get it back, the problem is back. We took our 96 Ram 2500 to the mechanic cuz the gauges and overdrive quit working, but when the guy started it up, everything worked fine. Then we took it home and they went out again, and the cruise control gained a mind of its own! Any, just an observation -Bill
  7. I figured it won't be easy to make power, but I am considering highly modified heads, full roller valvetrain for longer engine life, especially at the high rpm, lighter wieght forged custom crankshaft, h-beam rods, high volume oiling system, and completely new custom intake. I know it won't be anywhere near cheap, but it is a dream of mine to have a 250 hp EA81. Funding will be the biggest problem, but I am sure it can happen, and some day I will have the dyno sheet to prove it.
  8. Is there any company that makes a roller drivetrain for EA motors, specifically EA81 and EA82? If there isn't, there should be. Also, are there larger valves on the market available for these engines, or any other performance parts for that matter? I would like to get as much power as I can out of my EA81, and don't try to tell me to swap to EJ22, because I want to run no timing belts. Im looking for 200-250 hp. -Bill
  9. I ran the hose from the driver side on my ea82 strait to the intake manifold, and the one from the passenger side to the air cleaner, and I didn't use any valve, but it seemed to work
  10. Ive seen a second gen Brat on a Bronco II chasis, but it wasn't exactly pretty.
  11. Ive heard that some subes are known to run on the hot side, I know mine did, but it sounds like the temperature is close to where it should be. I put an all brass radiator in my ea82 and now it runs almost too cold in the winter, and the guage almost never goes above about 1/4 of the way in the summer, and it wasnt that expensive, about 100 bucks. I also went to a 160 degree thermostat and dual electric fans that I put on a manual switch. -Bill
  12. I read something about using a GM alternator on an xt6, I haven't had the need for more power on my ea82 though, so I haven't tried it on mine, and I don't know if it would work on a ea82, but it might be wirth looking into. I think the dual range trannys are supposed to have the nuetral safety switch, but mine was removed, along with the clutch safety switch, but it is supposed to be there. -Bill
  13. the Datsun ran, but the carb needs rebuilt, I went out to move it the other day, but the jets are plugged. Im just waiting for the title. When I get the title I want to sell it for 500 bucks, its a 72 -Bill
  14. I wish I had taken pics of it when I was camping this summer, it was a sight to see! My wagon looked like a rolling beaver damn! I had a log about 2 feet wide as a grill, the whole thing was filled on the inside with as much wood as possible, and the roof was covered as well. We had to make a statement cuz we couldn't let the crazy rednecks with the chainsaw and a chevy out do my subaru and our axe! Oh, old people don't seem to like glasspacks at 11 at night either:banana: -Bill
  15. I got... 2 Brats My 87 wagon, the Beast My 62 Chevy My 77 F-250 My Broncos El Super Beast-O My 69 Lincoln, of course and some rigs I'm tryin to get rid of That's my collection so far -Bill
  16. "Yep, that's an engine. Oh, and youre stuck in a mudhole."
  17. Thing is, I'm a dyed in the wool Ford guy, until I found Subaru, so i have a lot of Ford stuff lyin around, so this will save me some money. And in the unlikely event that it breaks, I have parts to fix it. I'm not too concerned with weight, bein as how Brats really don't weigh much anyway, and that stroker motor will pull darn near anything. Glad you like that sketch, I'll have better ones and some pics later. -Bill
  18. Ok, so i was out in my yard on Sunday, and I was bored . I looked over and saw my Brat sitting in the corner, wasting away , so i went over to it. Within minutes, i had half the front end off and the engine out . So I have decided that this will be my next Subaru project, and I want to end up with something like this: This is just a crude sketch I did today, but that is basically what i want to do. Im going to built a complete frame, triangulated 4 link coil sprung suspension front and rear, Toyota axles, a 347 cid Ford stroker engine, C-6 Tranny, NP-205 transfer case, and fully custom roll cage and glasspack exhaust . wadda ya'll thank? -Bill
  19. I been up there to Manastash and it's pretty cool. Lookin forward to it! -Bill
  20. I was able to succesfully rmove all of the emissions lines that run to the air cleaner and everything the connect to. Eventually I also removed the pcv valve, and when I switched to a Ford 2 bbl carb, I had like 4 vacuum lines, and no emissions at all.
  21. I had an lpg kit on a Dodge van, but I sold it and I didn't take any pics. Sorry! -Bill
