  1. I just talked to a mechaninc who works at the Subaru dealer. He said that disconnecting the battery for a period of time will NOT clear the fault codes. I thought that consensus on this list is that this does the trick. No? Also, this guy suggested that most scanners will not be able to clear the codes on a Subaru and in fact my only option may be to get it cleared by a Subaru scanner (i.e. at a dealer). Now, this all sounds like maybe the guy was just trying to get me to spend money at the dealership he works at but this guy has helpled me several times in the past (like lending me factory tools and providing technical advice spo I could avoid the dealer and do things myself). What say you to all this??? Thanks, Mike V '97 Legacy 2.2 with many CEL fault codes....
  2. I feel your pain Scott. But now that you're an expert you should be able to rip right thru it next time around. I need to replace the climate control panel bulbs in my '97 Legacy wagon. Wuld someone kindly direct me to where I can find thise good instructions that Scott referred to? Thanks, Mike V.
  3. Hello all. Actually I am returning to the fold. I registered as a new member since I cannot come up with my old login info.... Anyway, I am going to try to get the good ol' CEL light to go off in my '97 Legacy 2.2. When I used to hang around this forum, much of the discussion was around CEL lights and OBD codes. This does not seem to be the case now. Has a special place been set up where the CEL knowledge base resides or what? I will get back to y'all with my list of OBDII codes. There are six of them!! Meanwhille, I am going out to purchase some NGK plugs... Talk to ya later. And thanks for being here! Mike V
