I got rid of my 87 GL-10, and bought a 98 Legacy GT 2.5 wagon. I paid $2300 for it, with a minor blown HG and a bad water pump. $53.00 later, water pump is fixed with a new timing belt. removed the thermostat and HG problem solved, not over heating, just takes a long time to warm up. (temporary, STi eng, and trans coming in the summer). what I've done: New 02 WRX struts and springs with new toppers (4) new brakes, calipers, rotors, and hoses painted wheels, Yokohama Avid V4's "V" rated shoes 205/55/16 fram air hog, professional fuel induction cleaning, new fuel filter brake flush with red line dot 7 brake fluid, mobile 1 10w30 (3 oil changes now) P/S flush JDM BG5 Koito fog lights (not in pics yet, 1-2 days)

Can I not have my trip computer AND a cd player?!
iluvdrt replied to Tosh's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I took out the trip computer and mounted it where the ash tray goes. I then used a subaru install kit to mount my radio there. I think I had to cut out some of the brackets in the dash. Looks good, although I dont have an ash tray now for my change. -
Ditto. I live in Pa as well, by MD. This place sucks....

Is a TD05H 14B turbo to much
iluvdrt replied to iluvdrt's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thats right. They were the same price as the OEM injectors through my parts supplier at work. So I got them. I was thinking the tubo would be a little to much. It is almost 2x the size as the VF7. Ebay here I come. Thanks. -
Just wondering. I recently picked one up for a small sum of money and it is in great shape. No shaft play. This is the stock turbo for a eclpise gst in case anyone doesnt know. I have a EA82T with Nissan injectors, and a WRX TMIC on the way. I think it is a little bigger than a TD04. I know whats involved in swapping it, which isnt a problem as I need a new exhaust anyway. I am planning 12lbs now out of the VF7, but think the TD05H might be a little better at say 10 lbs, or 8.

Thats what I thought. I know the standard WRX snail is a little smaller and that is why it works. As far as supporting mods, I do have the Nissan injectors, WRX TMIC, and the motor is a JDM version with gen 3 heads...but I dont want to cook it. I think Ill just stick with the stock turbo, and run my 12 lbs, and call it a day. Ill post it in the F/S forum first, along with some other goodies. Thanks for the help.

Thanks, I guess I should have been more spacific in my questioning. I know the flanges have to be modified, and I need to make my up pipe a little more up. I was thinking more of the lines of "safe" boost pressures, and if it is a worthy mod. I found out today after cleaning it, it is a TD05H 16 G big boy. After reading on NASIOC, it apears this turbo is overkill for my little ea82T, and would probably be better suited for someone with the fuel, and aftermarket support in order to run it at its best potential.

I picked up a TD05 today from a friend who totalled his 1st gen Eclipse. I believe it is a 14G and is slightly larger than our stock turbo's (EA82T). It appears to be very similar and a easy swap. Does anyone know anything about this turbo, and is it a good swap? It doenst have any front to back shaft play, and my friend said he was running 22Psi out of it. I think it would be a good safe upgrade.

They are videos of his camping trip, and 4 wheeling. What do guns have to do with Subaru's?....Seems to be the trend, go to Allied Armament's web site. They make guns, and Suby parts.....Who cares, I dont.
-
Sounds like you got it.
-
Actually you are close. As specified by WARN winches, a good winch should be 1.5 * the heaviest vehicle you will be winching weighs. For a Suby, all you need is a 4000lb winch, if you only plan on winching your self.. As far as winching without a running car, your winch will winch you aways on a battery if it electric..car running or not. A hydraulic winch ONLY works when the car is running to pump the fluid. If the car stops running (hydrolocked maybe) you loose your ability to winch now. A battery operated one will still pull though.

Just wondering, but you did replace the control arm right? Also maybe it tweeked the frame for the control rm, so your alignment is way off.
-
I dont know about the camber issue. On my toyota, I went with tubular a arms )bottom and top) and the top was longer than the bottom by about 2". As far as the cv's go you could get these and adapt them. I used them on my Yote and the worked great. Found here. scroll down to find them. they are pricey though. http://www.downeyoff-road.com/SuspensionComponents/index.htm

The toe is adjusted through the tie rods (front), and the rear toe is adjustable through the lateral link. I know the front camber is adjusted through the sturt, and most do come with bolts for factory camber adjustments, I really dont know how the lift affects it. I do know that it really erks me to spend the 30 mins. setting up the alignment only to find out the person does need a camber kit and doesnt want it, or they just want it "checked" (which is free at NTB), than doesnt want to pay for the adjustment. As for the rear camber I cant remember how the Subaru's adjust. I think there a cam in the trailing arm that you turn, but I am not %100 sure on that.
-
I would say yes (being I do probably 15 alignments a day), because the springs are going to give you more positive camber by forcing the struts down. As far as "normal" goes, the ride quality will be sacraficed because you are removeing downward suspension travel, and adding stiffer springs, so it will be a more harsh ride.

He was in the Video that was sold recently! What did they do, mount a XT chassis on a Blazer frame?

TTT Is there anyone in Pa that goes 4 wheeling? -
I was 4 wheeling in a frozen corn field and I ran a frozen corn stch throughy the radiator, condensor, timing cover and into the block. She still ran though. This was on a 85 ea82 wagon d/.r

Subaru must have been nuts!!!
iluvdrt replied to pheonix165's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
While the best milage I have ever got from my EA82T gl10 has been only 21 mpg. I drive it like I stole it. Normal acceleration shifting is around 4k, when I am racing I shift at 7-8k. I have a new JDM engine and she seems to love the higher rpms. The only problems I have ever had that are consistant is blowing the coolant hose from the turbo, and I had a bad spark problem for a while. They are all fixed now, and running sweet. -
I just swipped a couple off of a Caterpillar bulldozer(at work). They are Nordic 55w rectangular lights.

Nissan 280ZX Turbo Injector Swap *DONE PROOF*
iluvdrt replied to Steveman09's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
I thought of this a while ago, and WJM had already tried this. Bumping the pressure is a no go. It doesnt yield the flow one would expect. The hole in the injector will only squirt to a certain point, and they are already pushing their limits in stock form.
