Update: (kind of) OK, as I posted There are no trails at Wayne's National Forrest we can ride on. I called the park and they said no. I will know for ure in a few days about Zanesville. I have my uncle also looking over some of his topographical maps of the south east to see if he can spot some loggin trails, or old fire roads. Of course I will scout them out first, but fear not. I have never not been able to find legal 4x4 trails with camping.

Same with me please. Also how did you lengthen your axles? are they custom from an fabricator, or did you do it?
-
TTT Anyone else planning on making it? I need to know so I can organise the camp site, and find trails willing to cater the amount of vehicles coming.

I really like the front suspension design. You look like you are almost ready for the Dakar rally now.

Time to build a killer motor

I dont see why not. -
The rule of thumb for winches is 1.5x the weight of your vehicle. So if your car weighs 2500 lbs, you need at least a 4000 lb winch.

As far as the head gaskets go, I have been toying with "o-ringing" the block. That is basically where they counterbore the block and put a meatle wire o-ring into the counter bore. It is impossible to blow a H/G at the cylinder than. The only thing that could happen then is push the head off of the block, but I think with some good heads studs that would not happen. I know a guy that has done this with a dodge cummins and runs about 90lbs of boost. Before he could only run 45. -
God, I could only imagine having a 4x140mm wheel mass produced. That could also possibly mean the brake assy could also be compatible. mmmmm brembo's and cool BBS wheels on my 87.....

Reading>me. My bad.

Is this a different rx, I thought you had 164 hp at the wheels?

Well, I went down to waynes national forrest to check out some trails. I think I may have found a few, but I need to check with the ranger station in order to find out if they are legal. If not I will check around with some of the local 4x4 clubs and ,maybe get them to spill the beans where some good local trails are (within a 1.5 hour drive). We will be camping, so we may have to travel a little. I will be checking for trails 2-3 times a month or as my buget allows.

sounds good. We hope to see you there.

Spare parts is a good idea though. I will be bringing some.

How much did the kit run you? did you install it and if so, how long did it take you? Just wondering, because that is the next step for me.

You will have to post picks of that conversion. You will be probably the first person to ever have that.!

Well, I got a good deal on a wagon d/r trans (5 spd), so I am going to swap itin and lift it. The 27's everyone was talking about is what I had in mind. Either that or 28's. My concern was more with the mud and water hitting the turbo and the damage it could recieve should I hydro lock it. I know water doesn't like to compress in the engine, but how well does boosted water compress? Probably not very well either. I guess I will just have to keep her above the water.

Sounds like a plan. Offroading on sat, and maybe a scenic drive on sunday or maybe a junkyard raid. I guess we can decide on that. I am down with that plan. Memorial day it is.
-
LOL, then what are you worried about?

It is easy. Columbus is an easy town to navigate. I have been gone from here for 5 years, and I pretty much just relearned my way back. Besides if you break down, maybe we can have a rescue party.

I think at #1 tdc the passenger side is up and the driver is down. -

LOL, you had it TDC on number 4, 180 degrees out. The best way to find TDC for #1 is to pull the 1 spark plug out and put your finger in the hole. Crank the engine over and when your finger squirts out you know it is on the compression stroke. Your distributor should be facing the #1 plug wire, and your flywheel should say 0. Of course it could have jumped time as well on the ca,m shaft that runs the dizzy(driverside) -
If I didn't have a crappy little apartment, and my wife wasn't so untrusting to strangers I would invite you in. I amsure we can all work out something. Hell if we all go camping problem solved.

OK, I called him and there is a glitch, but I found a loop hole, and its legal. Because my dad only leases, I would have to go through his landlord. To much trouble, BUT directly behind his his shop is a city park. We can meet there, so in essence it is OK. So here is the addresse for the Columbus Alliance meet on memorial day. 300 Graceland Blvd. Columbus Oh 43214 The name of the company is Affordable Custom Flooring. If there are any questions direct them to me or john and we can help you get directions or whatever. My number is 614.277.1437 and my name is Jason. For directions from your house just map quest it. It is right off of I-71 and Morse Rd. Now to find some trails to wheel........

I figured if everyone wanted to go we could just meet at the shop and hang out for a few and head to a local trail I would find. We could camp out if there were no objections. I have an extra tent, and a stove and stuff, OR we could bring a grill and grill out. Memorial day should be nice weather. I will ask the Pops about memorial day to confirm it.
