  1. Just looking over everyones pics and no one seems to run an ea82t. Is there a reason for this, or does no one simply just not have one. It is a good mototr to take wheeling? Thanks.
  2. There is a blue GL wagon in "Friday Night Lights" FYI.
  3. I know I haven't been around much but I have a story to add here. The other day I was cruising down the highway and low and behold a nice 2.5rs pulls up beside me. I have some flooring materials in the back I was picking up for my dad, and I look kind of scruffy. My windshiled is busted and the road salt is finally starting to take a toll on my old stallion. Any way these kids are looking me over and start to laugh at me, so I down shifted from 5th to third going about 60 and pulled away. They finally caught and started mentioning like they wanted to race so I obliged them. We let off at about 85-90 and he was about 1 car ahead of me. We got off onthe same exit and the kid rolled down his window mentioning me to do the same, so I did. Then I heard something I never thought I would... "hey, that old suby is pretty cool, whats in it" "A JDM 1.8l turbo" I said. "well that sure is a cool car, pretty quick too, it surprised me.I hope to see you around. Take her easy". and he left. My point is, the real enthusists notice rare things, and appreciate the inobvious. Who cares about the ricers.
  4. Sweet! If I can get a d/r installed and ready to go we could have a fun trip. I have begun looking for trails, and as our luck may have it, there appears to be a 4wd park opening up in zanesville.
  5. sounds like to much of a task for now. I was just wondering if it would be a plug and play thing. Thanks.
  6. Naw, I got her running ok now. How about a meet in april. The UROK challenges will be in Columbus then, maybe we can roll up there and spectate. http://www.we-rock.cc/
  7. Just wondering, but would a 97 outback spindles, and brakes fit on an 87? We got an outback in the yards last week, and I was thinking of trying to put the brakes, rotors, and spindles on my 87 to get bigger brakes, and a 5 lig conversion all in one. Would this work?? I know the alxes from my 87 turbo might not fit into the hub, but maybe I can alter them somehow with the outback axles.
  8. Well we need to set a date, and I need to get a D/R trans. Any ideas on the date? I know we could meet in my dads parking lot, or at the 4wd shop out by the trails. If everyoine is serious, I will start scouting some trails (legal) for us to venture out on. I should be getting some $$$ with my tax return, so If anyone has one(D/R trans) cheap they can donate:P...
  9. I would much rather have a locker than a welded diff. I have had them all, and a welded diff sucks. It isn't very reliable either. I say get a locker. If your serious about your trail rig, than the cost off set of the product versus your vehicle isn't important. I dropped 22k into a toyota truck that was only worth 4k. If you don't spend money, your vehicle will never improve. Period.
  10. Well we could set a date on say a saturday in like May, and have a fowl weather back up day. I don't know.....
  11. Well the old Cast Iron chevy cases were I would guess either an NP 205, or an NP 203. The 205 is vertually indestructable , even running with big block motors, so it would be over kill for your suby. The 203 is a chain driven unit, and it too is a pretty stout unit. The 205 low reange is only like 1.9:1 so it really wouldn't be benificial to mate it up. The 203 is a little better at like 2.2:1. Now one thing to check for on the 203 is to make sure it has the part time kit installed in it. Most 203's were a full time x-fer case and might be trouble for the subes. I am not sure though.
  12. Junking sounds like a good idea. We will just have to spread the word around the board. So what date in the spring should we plan on?
  13. Oh I dont have means to do it, just wondering. Thanks.
  14. Cool, so how do we want to arange the meeting? I am down for when ever and where ever as long as funds permit and it is with in a 2 hour drive. Does everyone just want to chill and take a scenic drive, of go wheeling, or what? Any ideas from anyone wanting to attend speak up.
  15. So how much do you now have invested into this (for pricing) and what kind of gains canm one expect from the install? Also how much would you guys be willing to sell the "kits" for?
  16. So you could actually reprogram the ecu not to cut fuel. That sounds like the only option for us 87+ guys. Now that would be some money involved for those of us whgo dont know how to reprogram.
  17. Hey whats going on, I am new to the area ( well post military) and Have moved back to Columbus. I was just wondering if anyone wanted to meet up one day and hang out? New and old subies are welcome of course, and the date and time shall be disclosed if anyone is interested. Later-Jason.
  18. A little O/T here but if the output shaft is the same for the two trannies, does that mean an EJ mototr would be a direct fit onto the ea82t trans or are the bell housings different?
  19. I haven't even thought of the cat being messed up and how bad the back pressure could throw things off. Hmmmm time to bust out the sawzaw. The injectors are all new, as is the engine (apx 55k mi JDM replacement engine) I will get ahold of the alleyboy and 86subaru. Maybe we can get this thing crunched out. I have a nice warm shop we can tool around in if need be. Thanks.
  20. Is there a way to bypass the maf entirely, by putting a wire in the connector to feed the pos side to the ground? I know in some older hot wire saabs you can do this. It just gives it a generic signal. But the it might not let your fuel get metered right. What about creating a restrictor plate to limit the amount of air the hot wire sees? Like a small damn to bypass the wire a little bit? I hope someone figures it out, as I am sick of my fuel cut, it is very violent sometimes and has on many occasions almost caused to me wreck.
  21. Mine does this only it belches black smoke(to rich) I am about to sell the darn thing.
  22. update: sorry it took me so long to reply, I have moved to columbus ohio. I pulled the codes and it said the temp sensor, crank sensor, egr, and maf. I cleared them and drove it around then checked it again. this time it said the #1, 3 injectors, o2 sensor, and tps. It doesn't even know what the hell is wrong. I unplugged the electric fan to raise the operating temp a ;ittle and it seemed to have helped a little, but not as good as it should be. Thanks for the offers WJM, but unfortunatly I am out of state now. If anyone can recomend a cool guy in the columbus area willing to help a poor unemployed vet, let me know. Thanks.
  23. Thats right, I give up on my 87gl10 ea82t. I am taking her to the dealer to get fixed. She is using s whole tank of gas every 60 miles. I have tried changing the coolant sensor, maf, purge control, coil, wires, cap & rotor, new ngk plugs, injectors, and fuel pressure regulator. Nothing has helped and I am done spending money on this thing guessing. The fuel cut hits as soon as boost is achieved(2psi it starts) and it belches smoke like a diesel. Engine has 50k on it too. I am going to fix it, and get a 2005 legacy gt. Look for it in the for sale ads in about a month or two. I will be selling it cheap(about a grand), and it is VERY clean, no rust. Engine is a new JDM import, new axles, bearings, rotors, brakes, intake, fiberglass gauge pod with faze boost gauge, eclipse head unit, clarion 5 band eq, punch amp, aura amp, and a 10" sub, polk tweeters, pioneer 7" rear door speakers, and infinity fronts. It has new tires on the factory white spoke wheels, and a nice luggage rack. MDJDC can vouch for the cleanliness, he saw it.
  24. You have to bolt in a rear diff in the front and run it off the t-case with a driveshaft.
