  1. thanks a million miles, i was hopeing you, or someone who doesnt mind explaining things would help me out. i will try this in the next few weeks if all goes well. your link didnt work for me. so i will need this explained please. i do have to swap the hubs out because of the spline count, or no? does only the tranny side of the shaft have a diffrent spline count, or the entire axle? also, insted of using the n/a axles, can i take the tranny prtion of the n/a axle and put it on the tranny side of the turbo axle. will it fit over the bearings? my suby is a 87. the donor car is an 85. i know i will have to change the rear out, because mine is a 3/7, non limited slip.
  2. heres mine: my first 85 wagon d/r ea82-245,000 killed by a corn stalk. 87 wagon 5spd 82t s/r-178,000 just put in a new motor 85 wagon d/r ea82 wagon- 135,000 still running.
  3. wow, that thing looks like a beast. i envy it. you need to try again and get some nice action shots for us. \ i think that brat and the one with the sas in the rear(qman?) need to compete for the usmb ultimate brat contest.
  4. on my 85 the line in the tank clogged up. i couldnt get it unclogged, so i bought some extra fuel line and put in the top of the tank where the sending unit is. i routed it to the the pump and hooked it up. it works pretty good. to check the tank line just unplug the bigger line going to the tank and the fuel pump. some fuel will run out of the lines, but wait and see if it has a steady flow coming out of the tank.
  5. so the rears will be ok then? also, will those axles fit into the turbo spindles? someone really needs to do a writeup on this. im sure it has been beat into the ground. so here is what i will need: trans rear diff shifters console front axles cross member is that it.? i cannot mix axle parts for the front? will the d/r axles hold up to the turbo ok? please help me out here guys.
  6. wow! that really looks good. when is its 1st debut going to be?
  7. hey subyjunky, i think the rareness of subies on the east coast is mostly contributed to rust. also the amount of snow we get. im in nc, and they are very rare here. i think i have only seen 4 in my city(apx 110k people) and i have 2 of them. they were more abundant in ohio where im from i think because we get a lot of snow. the rust kills them though.
  8. dang dude. just be lucky it cause you to crash and get hurt or something. is the $1200 quoted to fix from a body shop, or is that your quote?
  9. well being i cant keep both of my subies, i was wanting to put the d/r 5spd out of my 85 into my 87 ea82t 5spd. i know the trans will bolt up, and about the consol and plate, but my question is, is which axles to use. it appears the turbo axles are bigger, but i dont think they will line up onto the d/r tranny out of the 85(ea82). can you mix axle parts, like put the inner cup onto the inner bearing housing of the turbo axle? basically i have a whole complete running 85 to steal parts from in order to do this. it just needs a little more work than i can do with my budget, and i dont want to loose my d/r capabilities. thanks-iluvdrt
  10. i have one because it is cheap, it wont get me anywhere where i will be into trouble, and my family can fit into it plus gear. i like the sound the engine makes too.
  11. i think its great. people have been adding parts of diffrent cars to their own for ever to make them better. this is no diffrent than putting dana axles under a yota, or a corporate 14 bolt under a ford. it is all in the name of modding. and with very littler aftermarket support to improve the ifs, this is the only alternative. ifs/irs has its limits, and will never be made to perform like a solid axle can. it has been tried in the rock crawling championships with walker evans ifs s-10. it didnt work. i think it is a great idea. so my question is, is when is the front getting a live axle. i have thought so much about doing this to my wagon, but didnt think it could be done because of the unibody design.(never crossed my mind a cherokee is a unibody) great job qman.
  12. i took one of those and made a template with it. i then used fiberglass to coat it, and glue it to my pillar. i sanded it down, and painted it the same color as my car. it looks factory. fiberglass is very easy, i have come to find out.
  13. the geosites link hasnt been working for me. i did find this one: http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/mbc/mbc.php i read about the fuel cut, and that will be a problem as i think i am hitting now with stock boost sometimes at ony 4500. it is very harsh too. it feels like the darn car shuts off for a second, then it goes again.
  14. well i cannot afford it, and as far as te holy grail, it may not be the engine of choice, but it appears to have everything you need to swap that particular engine. i think it would be a good deal.
  15. that site doesnt tell you what sizes everything is. i feel i am honestly to dumb for this application. i work on the most expensive aircraft in the marine corps, but yet i cannot build a mbc.:-\
  16. when you are running that much boost dont you need at least a recircualting valve? how is the lag without one? are you intercooled? i have been thinking about this for a while. i am concerned about the dependability issue though.
  17. this is probably the wrong place to put this, but it is a great deal for anyone wanting to do a swap and has a couple grand to spaer. i read in turbo magazine where they did a ej20t swap into an old gl wagon. this guy has everything you need to do that same swap. try not to drool. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=46098&item=2478961278&rd=1
  18. thanks guys, i did mean to put rick instead of lean.:duh: any way, i think i got it figured out, heres what i did: first i replaced the o2 sensor with a nice bosh unit from advanced auto. i noticed when i had my injectors cleaned, the mechanics replaced my ngk plugs with a junky autolite. those were quickly swapped out for some more ngk's. they were gapped at .040. i cleaned and tightened the contacts on the coil, making sure the black wire went to the positive terminal, and yellow went to negative. i noticed my custom intake had separated a little BEHIND the maf sensor, so it was getting unmetered air into it. i put some more sealer (electrical tape) on it, and clamped her back together. new fuel filter, and new cone air filter. the results- WOW, she feels like a new car. the cel, no longer comes on, and the new power being felt feels incredible. it screams all the wat up to redline. i can even bark the tires in 3rd gear. now i just have to do comparative testing on the accel ign. componets to see if they are hindering any performance. thanks for all the help and suggestions.-iluvdrt
  19. i put in a new o2 sensor, cleaned the plugs, and fixed a small leak in my intake. the car hasnt hit fuel cut yet, but it will stutter real hard in the lower rpm band intermittenly. i will check the coil wires, and see if that helps. feel free to add anymore ideas, as i am completely out. thanks.
  20. they were pulled out and professionally cleaned. new o-rings and gaskets were then installed. this has been a problem since i put the engine in. it is a jdm replacement, that had 40k on it. also the seafoam was put directly into the intake manifold by the use of vacume lines.
  21. i am haveing a serious fuel miss on my 87 ea82t. i have cleaned the injectors, new fuel filter, and cleaned intake with sea foam. while driving down the road it shutters al little, and will hesitate in the lower rpm range. while at full boost(6 psi) the fuel cut off will come on at about 4k and then kick back on emitting a large cloud of black smoke. it has new ngk plugs, 8mm accel wires, new cap, rotor, and msd blaster coil. the cel will come on every now and again, but it will go off as soon as i quit accelerating, so i am not getting any codes. what i think is, is the o2 sensor is going bad and making the car run lean. the last time i checked the plugs they did have a little more carbon build up on them than usual. it is making the car run rich, and during boost applications, the o2 sensor fools the computer into the fuel cutoff because it is already rich. does this sound right? any other ideas? thanks for the help, i really need it soon because i am going on a trip. thanks -iluvdrt
  22. %%&%$#^%&^% i figured that. if it still drove it might be a cool beater for someone. oh well. thanks GD.
  23. there is an old junk yard i found near my house in jacksonville, nc. it is owned by some old man and women, whom are very nice, and give VERY good prices on items he has. anyway he has an older modle justy back there in good shape other than some front end collision damage. the motor is in good shape and it has a 4wd push button 5spd trans. the engine is the inline 4cyl(?) not an ea series. the interior is in good shape, as is reall everything other than the passenger front fender, and alf the bumper. i will be getting the steering column and ign switch if they will fit my 85 wagon, along with the cv axles. if anyone wants anything let me know and i will get you a price. will the carb on that engine fit on my ea82 wagon? also the steering column?
