iluvdrt replied to garner's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
that looks very clean. nice job. i cant remember, but what type of intake is that on there. didnt it come from gm? does it really provide enough power to compansate for the fabrication? very nice job though. -

wow, i must never let my wife see this thread. i promised her you couldnt put that much money into a sooby. it sure looks good though. -
i think it sounds like a valve seal isnt seated correctly. if it isnt burning coolant, and it never did this prior to the rebuild, that is the only place oil can get into the cylinder.

OMG! that is sick. it looks like a mini monster truck. how well do you think the cv axle will hold up to those 33s? and all the tourque from the t-case? -
ive got, suby road race version 1- 87gl10 ea82t suby offroad version 2-85 gl5 carby82 or junk yard scoob suby1 was the name of my 1st suby. 85 wagon 4wd d/r.
-
if you put diffrent tire sizes front and rear your 4wd will not work right. it could also break.

popping noise under car(not cv)
iluvdrt replied to iluvdrt's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
no its 4wd, but it is the race wagon. ok, i checked the sway bar and its ok too. i am thinking it is a bushing, but because i obviously dont excert as much force as the engine, i cannot simulate it. i am really leaning towards the bushings in the tranny x member of the passenger trailing arm. -

my shifting is pretty good, but im beginning to think its something of the like. i will check the sway bars as mentioned above, and also take a better look at the shifter. it is a very loud noise, it sounds like the car is going to break in half. it hasnt hindered performance though. -

but why would it sound like its in the consol, and also when i stop? i have never had a motor mount make noise like this. -

the white wire is memory wire. the yellow is the light wire. the red is the the power i believe. the wires which share colors is the speaker wires. take a 9v battery and touch the pos. end of it to one of the wires, and ground the other side, this will help you find which speaker it goes to. it will make a sound like buzzing. the ground wire is black. i hope that helps.

hello, everyone. i recently have been hearing a popping noise when ever i stop and go. i know its not the cv, because they are new and the sound isnt coming from that area. it sounds like its coming from the consol area and can be felt through the passenger floor board. i checked underneath the car for loose tranny mounts, crossmember bolts, and trac bar rigity, and all seems to be in good shape. the control arm bushings seem tight as do the ball joints. i am really stumped on this one. any ideas? it does appear one of motor mounts may be going, but would this make that noise? it does it no matter how hard i accelerate or stop. thanks.
-
that will help very much. thank you.
-
i cannot remember if i have that one. if i do, then i just run the line from it to the vacume port, correct? thanks for the help.
-
my car has begun to sputter at crusing rpms(@3k) and during hard exceleration sometimes it will cut out very hard then go again. i wounder if its the coil too?
-
wow with all of these coil failures, im beginning to worry. i have never had a prob yet with accel, but now im worrying. i do a lot of traveling. guess i should carry a spare.

thanks for the help! i only bumped because it was falling off the page, and i never get a responce to my questions. i did a search on the fuel pump and searched for a while, but didnt find anything out that would help me. as for putting a hot to ground, i dont understand where i did that. nothing sparked and no fuses blew. as far as the schmatic goes my haynes only lists the mpfi, and spfi versions not the carb'ed one. why dont you remove the cannister? does it filter out the fumes from the vacume plug on the intake? the bracket isnt the cannister holder its the intake tube retainer. on it there is a metal cylinder shaped thing that has a big vacume hose on it. i dont know what it is and i dont know if i need it. again thanks.
