  1. how do you weld them in the first place, just crack it open and weld the spiders, then put it back together. is there anything important to keep in mind while doing this, like pinion preload, or backlash?
  2. yes, i would much rather just buy one as well. my plasma cutter is a small one but it works pretty well. it is actuall a shop owned unit i am going to try and posta pic. who is the imagae hoster for usmb? i tried some that i kow but they dont work.
  3. ok, thanks thats all i needed to know. so i guess they are still making lifts and everything is going well for them, so i shouldnt have any problems i hope. thanks shawn.
  4. ok, i finally bought my 85 ea82 wagon with a low range 5spd trans. i am going to do the the toyota 6 lug rim mod and get some 26-27" super swampers. but after reading the hi-rise subaru thread while doing a search for lifts, i became confused. so how do i go about getting a 3-4" lift now and how much is it. or can you make one. i do have access to stock and some welders/plasma cutters. to me i would rather buy a nice quality kit and be done with it than experiment with ideas. can someone point me in the right direction please. thanks.
  5. my 87 is supposed to be 20, but i have it a 15.
  6. LOL, that is so true though. yes, the front ebrake sucks, its so hard to do ebrake turns now. plus i think mine is only locking up 1 wheel.
  7. wow, thats a good write up. i not only have suby parts laying around, but parts to vehicles i dont even own, you know, just in case.
  8. thanks, i might be getting up with you sometime in the summer. that looks great.
  9. how much are they? i might be interested
  10. that is sweet! where did you get the rims made. i might go atv style on my new scoob. of course they will be on the car and not a custom buggy.
  11. i believe there is one coming off the driverside head to where the battery is, 1 coming off the middle of the block to the firewall, and one coming off the passenger sie head into the passenger side frame rail. there is also one by the driverside injectors, i think. the temp sensor is common to go out and could cause the bad idle. i have that problem 2x. it is located behind the plenum on the block. cheap and easy fix. your injector problem and crank sensor could be water if youve washed your engine recently, or if the rubber coating over the injector has dry rotted condensation will get in there. that to has happened to me. i filled the plugs(where the wires are) with rtv and havent had anymore problems. as far as it not cranking, if you are sure its not the starter, wires, or relay, i would guess its the ign switch.
  12. i dont see it!..... oh there it is behind those chicks:-p *right click, set as background* nice job, did any of the sti guys give you props?
  13. yes, ill see if hell let me do that. im sure he will.
  14. yes!, and some other things to make it run again, but i still think its a good deal.
  15. well it could be an gl-5. i was just estatic so i was just running around like a kid in a candy store. come to think of it i think it is a 5. still pretty good none the less.
  16. well i went to the junk yard the other day to get parts for my wifes probe. as we were crusing to get them i noticed some gl wagons hidden in the back of the lot surrounded by weeds. i got out and looked through them only to find they were all auto, 2wd:( . then i saw it. a grey gl wagon with a good body. i ran over to look at to find the gold mine. its an 85 gl-10 wagon with the entire car minus the steering wheel still intact and in great condition. it has an ea82 engine with gen 2 heads, the 5sp, d/r trans and 3.9 diffs. the interior is pretty clean too. the guy at the yard said as far as he knew the only thing wrong with it was a broken timing belt. i talked to the owner and he said he will sell me the entire car for $250. it will need the carb cleaned and timing belt(which i have a spare), along with some tune up parts. it has the white spoke rims(perfect condition), and the tires even appear to look good as well. this could be the off-roading beast i have been searching for, i am very excited.
  17. i think the pillar pods are the universal kind. they also sell them at auto zone. i bought one and mounted it, but it didnt look good enough for me so one of my airframer buddies is going to use it as a template to make one out of fiberglass for me. ill let everyone know how it turns out.
  18. i had the yellow accel coil in my toyota for a few years then put in my scuby. it seems to be working well.
  19. dang skip what are all those gagets. it looks like a clock a inclinometer, another clock, and an aircraft switch board with a map light. and on top it looks like a cb, cd player and a fuzz buster. i couldnt concentrate with all those gagets. i like it.
  20. they sell them auto zone for like 5 bucks i think. when i lost mine i just crammed an old sock down the tube and taped it up until i got a cap. i dont know if thats something youd want to do though.
  21. how much boost are you running to pull so hard as to beat a civic si? i have an intake and im running stock exhaust, and stock boost. i am currently installing a boost gauge and MBC. it feels prety strong, but im not sure if itll take out an si.
  22. go to auto zone and they have these trick maf adapters for like 10 bucks. they look like a square with a small piece of piping attached to them. i think they are made for a honda/ supra but they bolt right on to the suby maf, then you can mount a cone filter on it. all of that should be hanging on a shelf in the ricer section.
