Did head gasket on 2.2 l this week end. Have done several in the past. Car starts but get erratic idle then stalls. No codes. Timing belt appears to be spot on. Suggestions

I rebuild engine( all new seals, timing belt and tensioners, heads rebuilt). runs perfect. after about 15k I have been getting these misfire codes. If light didn't come on I would not know anything is happening. The car runs great. I reset light and then 100 miles later the Code comes back. It started out p0304 misfire now it seems to p0301 misfires never get two at a time. Never get flashing cel checked and searched around. Have seen everything from coil PAC to valve problem. Odd thing is my car runs great Checked wires, coil PAC fuel system. Compression OK when rebuilt Help!

Thanks for all our help. I just redid the evaporator on my volvo 850. I though I take a crack at my kids 1998 sub. I still think the compressors gone. By the way, I got a new compressor and clutch from ebay for $60.00 (Zexel DKV14G but I need a Zexel DKV14D)I quess the switch was time in the 97-98 MY. I wonder if I can get a later model mounting bracket and make it fit? -

Do you mean it is possible for the compressor clutch to rotate with out the compressor shaft spinning. Because this is what I think may be happening. It failed all of of a sudden. I just evacuated the system and it holds a great vaccuum. I assumed the compressor was gone or expamnsion valve stuck. How can I delineate this problem. -
