  1. Thanks to all for the advice. Come to find out that while I clicked on FRONT O2 sensor on the website, their computer had the part numbers confused and sent me the rear sensor, which I will keep because I am sure I will need it soon. The subarupartsforyou.com site is, coincidentally enough, the same address as the dealer from whom I bought the car, so I will not be doing business with them. I live near another dealer who seems willing to match online prices for parts, so I will probably be dealing with them in the future. Again, thanks so much for the part numbers, suggestions, etc. Mike
  2. I ordered a front O2 sensor from SubaruGenuineParts.com for my 2000 4 door Impreza 2.2L. I gave them my VIN, year, engine size and everything, but they sent me a sensor that has a three-prong connector. Mine has a four-prong connector. There is no way I can use this part. The part number they sent me was 22690AA350. The part number I got from my local flim/fla ...excuse me my local very helpful, considerate dealer is 22690AA000 which does not produce any results in the part search on the online website. Is there a chance that anyone might know the right part number for the front O2 sensor for my car? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Merry Christmas! Mike
  3. I can actually get a 22mmopen-end wrench on the O2 sensor on my 2000 Impreza. It lives in the front of the catalytic converter and doesn't look too hard to access.
  4. I usually run winter tires on all 4 wheels of my 2000 Impreza, which seems to satisfy the requirements of each state I have driven it in the winter. My car only has 4 wheels, so if it is all-wheel-drive, it also must be 4-wheel drive.
  5. The hose clamp fix seemed to work well for me. Very cheap, very easy, very effective.
  6. What is that wrench called and where does one get it? I need to change the front O2 sensor on my 2000 Impreza 4dr sedan (2.2L). I'm hoping that the suggestions I have read here will help me as well.
  7. Thanks so much folks. If I can get through this, and then deal with my impending clutch failure ( subject of a future thread), it will make the difference in my decision on whether or not to sell the car, which I would hate to do as it has never let me down and I regard it as a partner, not just a machine to get rid of once it gets old. Thanks, Mike
  8. I thought I forgot something. Mileage is 129,000. Also, the last time I went to Autozone for a reading of a CEL (several years ago) they told me they couldn't connect their device to a Subaru. I never asked again.
  9. Hello to all. I am a brand new member of the forum and have some questions/problems which are no doubt common to all newcomers. My check engine indicator is on and my dealer ( for the bargain price of $90) informed me that I had 2 codes (although the invoice only lists one). It is codeP1507. They said I needed a new A/F sensor (which I understand is a front O2 sensor) and an idle control unit. They would be happy to provide this service for $720. I declined. My problem child is a 2000 Impreza L 4 door 5 spd. which has been a stellar performer so far. Should I replace the front O2 sensor first and attempt to reset the CEL codes? I might add that the car is running fine, getting 33 mpg, and is not due for emissions testing this year. Any advice from the gurus on this board would be greatly appreciated. I promise to explore this board further so as not to revisit too many problems that have probably been discussed here ad nauseum. Thanks, Mike
