  1. Field Service Manual. 2nd page of New Gen sticky above, under my name is link to fsm. O.
  2. The'02 Forester and other 2.5 SOHC have that PS plug. Don't know when they started or how much across the line it goes.. Do search for FSM. Download and go to the Electrical section and you'll find the pinouts. O.
  3. Do a search here and on legacygt.com, there is a workaround for this. The system is only looking for flow,. In effect a tee is taken from an intake line and fed to the egr solenoid.. O.
  4. Leave the block heater in. Probably oem. A hose tee in the heater line has always worked for me. Have never seen the need to remove a freeze plug just to drain the system, on any engine. O.
  5. Make sure you have not dislodged the vacuum line that goes to the pressure solenoid on the IM. The other side goes to the fuel pressure regulator. If you don't have vacuum, you won't get fuel. O.
  6. may not be the valves, but the guides/seals.. If they were tweaked a little in the original bending of valves, they won't seal. O.
  7. Exactly which codes were in a pending state? Numbers please. Pull an injector plug. You should be getting 12v on the white wire with key in the on position. Make sure your vacuum hoses are on and whole, especially the small hose from the intake manifold to the pressure solenoid on the IM. O.
  8. Relays seldom go bad. I'd make sure the ignition fuse is good. Pull the outlet line from the fuel filter. Turn the key to on, that will short cycle the pump. If you get fuel, that's not your problem. If you don't I'd check the fuel pump, Just remove the cover and the connector. You should get 12v when the key is turned on. If you do, and the pump is not sending fuel. You have your issue. Download the fsm and go down the list. http://www.main.experiencetherave.com/subaru_manual_scans/ O.
  9. I saw that ad, but my daughter wants all seasons. Good find tho. 2 years ago I bought 4 Continental Contacts in 17" with 7/8 tread for $175, but had to drive 2 1/2 hours each way (to Syracuse) to pick them. Totally worth it. Am just about to take them off now. (17" tires are not my ideal snow wear) O.
  10. Look under the panel near the driver's knee. There should be a black push button/switch on wires. When the system loses power via a removed battery, once installed the security system will act up. If she has a remote, that should fix it. Go to cars101.com and look under programming remotes. Otherwise just push the button and hold it while cranking. The system will randomly flash and or lock and unlock the doors until the button is pushed. Without the remote it will act up again, unless you disable the security system. O.
  11. The spring portion of the T stat goes into the block side. Should only fit one way(as the oem/stant 48457 will be too long to go in incorrectly). Would only use either of the aforementioned T stats. O.
  12. It's in the Engine Mechanical section: Valve Clearance Valve clearance Intake: 0.20+0.04 0.06 mm (0.0079+0.0016 0.0024 in) Exhaust: 0.35 +/- 0.05 mm (0.0138 +/- 0.0020 in) • O.
  13. Get a Gates belt. The difference in cost is worth it in piece of mind. O.
  14. The only thing forgotten, is the brakes will be a limiting factor in some ways. The Brighton came with drums in the rear. O.
  15. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2310341 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/126283-p0440-evap-issue/ Ran into these from my old favorites, O.
  16. Advance Auto, NAPA and others sell packs of them. Never measured. O.
  17. Rust is not only affected by the salt roads, but also by where one parks. Over concrete etc is one condition, but over grass/soil generates more moisture and helps rust to form. O.
  18. The 440 is a catchall. Most of the times, it's not a low input, but no ouput. The terminals corrode allowing very little flow or just break completely. Other times , the hose becomes loose or develops a pinhole. Inspection is the only way to be sure. O.
  19. Knock sensor. By both I hope you mean O2 sensors. Do the front first, clear codes. Bank 1 sensor 1 is the front unit, sensor 2 is the rear. O.
  20. See attached. Download fsm: See New Gen FAQ sticky, page 2 under my name for link. O. Vent Solenoid.pdf
