  1. To add. Replace the springs (dealer only part) for the throw out bearing and closely examine the fork for any cracks, if so replace it. O.
  2. If you don't have it, download the FSM. Search the sticky above for FSM. When you look at the crank there should be a group of 5 letters, ranging from A to maybe D. Each letter represents a tolerance range. Attached is the engine spec sheet JIC. A is std. ,B is .03,C is .05 and D is.25. Should also be a group of 4 letters for the rod bearings. Haven't been able to decipher those. Unfortunately cranks are not generally all one size from the factory. You can buy separate main bearings from Subaru, but not rod bearings. If it is within your budget, would be easier to have them all machined to the same size. O. general description.pdf
  3. The 99 2.2 uses an AFR O2 sensor in the front. If this is going bad, your mileage will suffer. First tho, do the usual. Plugs are a must. Then see how it does. O.
  4. 95 FSM says 2,1 psi for activation of light. Data in lubrication section on specifications page.(last pdf in section) O.
  5. Do search for FSM in the FAQ sticky, or just scroll down. They are there. O.
  6. If the engine is running ok otherwise, I'd just pull the engine to replace the separator plate, which is probably what's leaking, if the leak is from the rear. The 2.2 is a good option if you HAVE to replace the engine. O.
  7. You need to tighten the bolts further. When just finger tight the last one or two will now be sticking up. Have had this happen a few times. O.
  8. I've never heard of anyone removing the freeze plugs just to remove coolant! Why bother? Any small amount that remains is still antifreeze. Buy a radiator flush kit from your auto store, remove t stat from housing, reattach and add a garden hose, if you have somewhere safe for the water to drain and not create a hazard. If not, then just add through upper radiator into the block. The weeping of this series of EJ is a known issue. Subaru just says to add the "conditioner" (aka stop leak) and monitor your fluid levels. O.
  9. No, another moderator moved it to the FAQ. I didn't realize just anyone could add to a sticky. If you will note, this was originally posted on 12/12/13. O.
  10. LGT with vented rotors, require 16" rims. Brackets etc will fit, but new pad type also. Go to http://opposedforces.com/parts and after you get to the part number, click on it then go to usage information. It'll tell you what other cars used that part. Even then, sometimes there is a different part number because of a mfg change, but still interchanges. Try your local auto store and see what they have for interchange. O.
  11. 14" tires etc HAD their place. I like to stop and bigger brakes etc require larger wheels. I use 17" for warm weather and 16" for snow. To each their own. O.
  12. There is a transfer bar that has come loose. IIRC it's held on by a c clip. See my post on FSM. Download yours and go to the body section. Also, www.opposedforces.com/ click on Subaru parts catalog, then go to your vehicle, etc O.
  13. Not an expert in this, but the only real issue I see is the 06 was dbw, necessitating the swap of the engine harness. Since you have to do this, the AVLS sensors in the heads will now match. O.
  14. Yes, you can use 251 block with an ej25d head, but your problem seems not to be with the block, but the head. Would be easier to find someone parting out a Suby with the right heads and buy them, as long as they don't have bent valves. Shipping heads from Canada to PR would kill you. O.
  15. Continually see requests and needs for fsm"s. Here is what I have. 1990,1992,1995-1997,1999-2000+ www.main.experiencetherave.com/subaru_manual_scans 2005,2008 and 2009 http://people.csail.mit.edu/ilh/vacation Tech info from Northursalia www.northursalia.com/techdocs/pdf/pdf.html Parts Catalog www.opposedforces.com It would be great if the moderators would make this a sticky and also a sticky of the engine swap info. I am sure Johnegg, grossgary and others have cramps in their fingers from rewriting the same info over and over. O.
  16. Factory tolerances are .016 for both., You can have a std rod journal and as much as .25 under on the crank, but the tolerance is still .016 for either. In mm. O.
  17. Here is link to fsm.: www.main.experiencetherave.com/subaru_manual_scans/ Use the 99 Legacy and the 2.2. The largest you can get are .50mm oversize bearings, so yes you are over the limit. A new crank or engine would be your only option. O.
  18. Here is link for Legacy 2.5 etc. IIRC the engine specs are the same. Don't have a Forester dedicated link, though you could join the Subaru Forester Owners Group and perhaps find it there. www.main.experiencetherave.com/subaru_manual_scans/ O.
