Playing around in the shop over the last couple days I built myself a 90 amp GM alternator that is a DIRECT bolt in for my 83 Brat. No custom brackets, no wiring, nadda. It can be built in single wire or with a factory plug, so you can retain your dash light etc I can get parts to build more of these, would anyone be interested, and at what sort of prices?

Realistically they're only there to stop the axle sliding off the stub, the splines hold the power. -

I had cotter pins holding in the front axles in my 280whp impreza Should be fine. -
I currently have a 6 speed SVX and a 98 RS with 05 STI running gear down to the hubs, both put together in my back yard I'm not afraid to dive in and experiment Ultimately, I'm done spending money on the carb; I have access to enough parts to get it running, now it's all just time. And as far as I'm concerned, when you're playing with building custom car parts, there's no such thing as wasting time. As long as you've learned something from the experience, it's time well spent. If this carb doesn't work out, when I replace it I'll have learned a ton about setting up carbs.

see ours isnt a dd, its for camping and mild offroading, etc we both have other cars

A customer of ours who builds ea81 powered planes says I probably won't even have to rejet it. I don't understand why this is myself, as I don't have a ton of experience with carbs, but according to him it's the one to use if you're on a budget. Picked up a rebuilt one for 30 bucks, if worse comes to worse, I can resell it and try something else

Thought I'd start a little log of what we're doing with our Brat, beginning with the carb swap. Holley 2bbl 2210 carb off a Dodge 318, currently working on making an adapter plate, I've got the bolt holes all set up, going to start on blending the edges into the intake manifold (on both the plate and the manifold)

So it's probably best to buy a 5mt d/r car to swap everything over, and then get the rear discs seperately? I'm no stranger to subaru swaps, My Impreza has parts ranging from 1989 to 2005 on it -

In order to do the d/r swap, either 4 or 5 speed, what would be the ideal donor car? We also want to do the rear disc swap, so it should have those too if possible! -

Dropped the gas tank off at a rad shop today to see if they can repair it. I'd prefer to go with a repaired tank rather than a used tank that could start leaking again in 6 months... As for the rust, we were planning on attacking the surface rust with a wire wheel, rust converter and por-15 Not sure about what to do with the rust on the underbody, I'm a little nervous about taking a grinder to it, never had to do any serious rust repair before. Maybe I'll see if one of our toyota buddies can give us a hand -

Well we got the brat home... was quite the adventure. Needs a gas tank. Trying to decide what to do about that, especially since the EJ swap and lift won't be happening for at least 6-12 months, and I need to have it drivable now. -
