  1. I got lucky i was'nt turning very high revs and i actualy had two of my tool boxes with me lol. Then again there is really no way to know if i bent anything whithout pulling the engine apart but the engine is running as strong as before the water so im shure everything is fine i will be changing the oil soon though. Rob.
  2. I had a close call last night had some bad flooding going on got cocky and started to head trough the water by the time the water hit the hood it was to late hydro locked then started to float . luckaly a suburban was coming the other way he flipped around and pushed me out of the water after pulling the plugs and turning the engine over a few times i put the plugs in and drove home i new need to remove my seats and dry my carpet out but all is well. this car will be getting a snorkle eventualy.... Here is a pic from thismorning check the water mark on the telephone pole water was about a foot lower than where the pole is dry. and my legacy died right in the middle of the intersection at 9pm last night. Rob.
  3. sorry aobut your ride i had a close call last night had some bad flooding going on got cocky and started to head trough the water by the time the water hit the hood it was to late hydro locked the engine then started to float . luckaly a suburban was coming the other way he flipped around and pushed me out of the water after pulling the plugs and turning the engine over a few times i put the plugs in and drove home i now need to remove my seats and dry my carpet out but all is well. this car will be getting a snorkle eventualy.... sorry about the jack the lifted rig sounds like it would be a deal but like previously posted alts and axles. Rob.
  4. its just a crusing daily driver if i can find a nice looking set of WRX or Outback wheels i will probly run them im working on a photochop of what i hope for it to look like.
  5. Ok so i have been changing my mind all winter but i have chosen to put the 3.3 in my legacy sedan and an EJ trans with 3.7 ea turbo gears and selective 4wd forester or outback struts and 20" black wheels. With my gen3 brat i plan to put a 6 inch lift 31" tires a 2.5 dohc with 2.2 sohc heads a ford escort disty and 4 berral carb with a D/R 5 speed. |
  6. here is from the first snow we got november last year.
  7. "Words can't describe how horrendously disappointed I was when I first drove the FrankenWagon with the EJ22 and RX trans combo" I was told the RX trans and the ea82 turbo trans are different both 3.7 finale but different gears. Im not bagging on your facts but i just prefer the 3.7 turbo 5 speed i like the gears and my rpms are lower than with a 3.9 trans and i have had 2 cender diffs fail on me in 4.111 and i like the safty net of if i lose an axle i can still make it to my destination. thanks Rob.
  8. well how far east are you ? i am in yakima wa. I have a 92 legacy sedan 5 speed awd swapping an SVX 3.3 into it with a homebuilt 3.7 singal range 4wd 5 speed. Rob.
  9. personaly i like the 3.7 turbo gears as most of my driving is on the freeway not much racing and i like the longer gears. As for the xt6 clutch stuff its not easy for everyone to find. I compleatly spaced that you have a Fwd car and the 5 speed legacy trans is alot wider. If you could have started with a 4wd ea81 car the ej trans will fit in easy becasue the early ej trans has almost the same specs as the EA82 4wd trans with exeption of the shorter tail if you go with a 5 speed swap you will need to have a custom driveline made you will also need to swap the inside DOJ cups to mach the trans you choose the only ea82 trans that matches the ea81 is the 3.9 the 3.7 shares the spline count with the legacy 4.111. Cheers Rob.
  10. You can get the best best of both worlds by taking an EJ 5speed awd and either a 3.7 or 3.9 single range 4wd ea82 trans then put the insides of the ea trans into the case of the EJ trans and use the ea tail shaft and internals the case is the same as the ea82 at this point you can use the stock push button for the 4wd or modify a D/R lever. If you choose to use the 3.9 gear S/R trans you wont need to mod your axles but if you use a 3.7 gear s/r you will need to switch the front axles to fit 23 spline IIRC that is what the turbo trans has. IMHO i think this is a good way to go because if you lose an axle you can still make it to help or home, no vis coupler, selective 4wd, and you can use an upgraded clutch and pressure plate because of the EJ bellhousing. Ask me how i know Just my .02 Rob.
  11. well alright thanks for that info still think i might try it sometime... thanks Rob.
  12. why would the knock sensor matter on the hicomp engine and not a standard 2.2 with a 4bbl carb setup? i thought the knock sensor just told the computer if the ignition timing was off? i could be compleatly wrong but i think it would still be cool to try. Thanks Rob
  13. i used 1996 outback struts i did need to swap the strut tops for the rear struts the pattern was a littl smaller on the outback but other thaqn that they fit great and give better ride quality with about 2 inches of lift at best. Rob.
  14. Something i have been thinking about doing along with my svx swap is a 2.5 hybrid with 2.2 heads a 4bbl carb and escort disti? I was planning on doing the 4bbl carb swap like jerry (Bratsrus1) on his hatch brat but now all this talk of the franken motor has me wondering what if you did a 2.5 with sohc 2.2 heads a 4bbl carb and an escort disty it should put out a good amount of power and no harness. Put an EA swapped EJ trans behind it no adapter plate 2wd 4wd on the fly upgraded legacy/impreza clutch and pressure plate locking tail shaft (NO VISCUS) with a lsd in the rear. you could even do a 5 lug swap mmm that would be one sexy beast im thinking something like my red sedan but without the 5 lug swap man its going to be bad. I can see it now all stuffed into this lil devil
  15. Hey everyone now that it is going to start warming up hopefully i need to get working on my cars i have a few ideas i want to toss out for opinions later rob
  16. locking lug nuts with keys (real actual keys) only ones i have ever seen are in the brochure
  17. Well the D/R trans has a weakness in the hi lo gears so not the best for drifting/rear wheel driving but IMO the single range 4wd ea82 trannys are fun and strong i have beat the snot out of a few of them and have not had a problem yet and i have run the 2.2 with it. A plus is you can take a legacy 5 speed awd trans and an ea82 singal range trans and put the ea insides into the EJ case then put the ea tail+insides on it you can use it in an ea car to swap in an ej motor with no adapter plate and no redrilled flywheel and use better clutch parts. The only down side is this is only a street thing it can not be done with the D/R. The reson i chose a turbo ea tranny is it has the same spline count as the legacy axles so i can use it in my legacy to get 3.7 gears and no viscus coupler hehehe. to put this trans in a legacy you would need to use the front part of an ea driveline on the legacy due to a shorter tail shaft. Thanks Rob. ps sorry 4 teh typos
  18. damn that sux man i didnt want to hear that i really want to build one of them bad boys do you think it was just a weak blocK?
  19. i drifted my 89 coupe/brat with the 2.2 in it and my 83 hatchback with a 1.8 jdm ea81 with a weber didnt break an axle stub till i put 18 inch slicks on the rear. it was fun though. Rob
  20. we are getting ours here in union gap got a great pic in the yakima canyon in the legacy look at that sky.
  21. i just emaild you again the first eamil you gave me didnt have the 86 in it lol
