  1. True but, the number is helping u determine the condition or the motor. If u have the holes on one side at 90 and 105 and 120 and 130 on the other side ur going to have an unballanced motor and cause for ruff running.
  2. If its ur gen one, than decide how high ur going then obtain some longer bolts for the trans x member. figure out if ur making the lift ur self or buying one. then u will probably need a gen 2 rear suspension. pain in the rump roast to lift the stock rear end.
  3. WEll yes ur looking for cylinders to be within 5-10% of eachother but number does matter. good cylinders should be upwards of 120 psi. lower than that is not normal.
  4. Exhust would make a huge difference here. Get rid or the cat and stock muff. stick with stock exhust cross over and run like 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 pipe with a cherry bomb or somthing w low restriction.
  5. Make sure u dont have any air/vacum leaks some are hard to find.
  6. What was the milege before the 14's. And are ur plugs gaped right. Also make sure that ur brakes arent dragging. how long has it been running this way?
  7. yea just make sure that u use a different FPR otherwise the ECU will ************.
  8. I'll try to get some up by this weekend. we have some pics but we just need to figure out how to put them up.
  9. That or check the little 7/16 hose that runns parralell with the intake. it goes up off the intake (passenger side) and goes towards the throttle body. It happened on my RX. It was a little pin hole leak. But basicly follow the trail back to the leak point. Sometimes an LED light will pick up coolent real well.
  10. Sounds like it needs a rebuild. next time open the hood. look into the carb, look to see what the fuel spray looks like. look down the secondary barrel and make sure there is no fuel dribbling out of the secondary jet. This will give u the stumbling for sure. Start with that. Ur more than likley going to have to do a rebuild though. keep us posted.
  11. Make sure that ur using the clutch to shift in and out of 4 hi or 4 lo and back to 2wd. Like there saying make sure ur tires are all the same size.
  12. Well the lift in the front is almost done. And yes I am using the gen 2 rear end. The reason or one of the reasons Im using the EA81 front is because when the gen 2 rear end is in the with of the wheels will be alittle wider than in the front. I am using the EA81 engine and 4 sp/dr out of my hatch. We used some 4x3 square tube to lift the front and offset the holes in the front to accomidate the EA81 engine cross member. Its tapered in the front but the holes line up in the rear. All thats left in the front is the strut tower lift blocks and extending the leading rods. thanks alot guies for the input, keep it comming. Thanks Lawrence.
  13. Yea u could do that. none of my soobs have that, ive never seen it before. so if u know a little about it then go ahead. Lawrence.
  14. I dont think I would want to mess with that. U probably should try to replace the lines or get one from another car.
  15. Yes, the valve cover gaskets and the rest should be the same. Exhust, the cats on these cars are rediculus. u can streight pipe after the cat but it wont make a difference in sound. what I did with my RX is cut out the cat and the rest. I ran 2 1/2 pipe streight off the turbo into a cherry bomb mounted half way back. then I cut open the cherry bomb and removed the packing, so its just like a resinator, welded it back togather and put it in. it sounds mean. Then I removed the air box and mounted a cone filter. Now when u rev it up and snap the throttle u here a blow off sound. pretty cool. The sound is the air trying to back spool the turbo. U could also run an accell coil and better wires and non resistor spark plugs. NGK BP6ES not BPR6ES thats the resistor plug hince the R. ny thing els just let us know, and welcome to Subarus. Lawrence.
  16. wheere is this seperator exactly. U have a vapor canister up front in the engine bay. I dont think that is what ur talking about though.
  17. Most of the 2wd cars came with (EA82) a regular non adjustable strut. However the gl cars like the 4wd hatches (EA81) had adjustable front struts. posture adjustment as they where called. As far as I know, these are the only struts that where seen. I think that the gl10 cars have the adjustables too. So look at the struts if there is flat plate under the coil spring with a 21 mm nuts on each side, u have adjustables. It will lift the car a few inches but the camber will be affected. Lawrence.
  18. Ur fast idle cam is all fubared. Are u sure that when u rebuilt the carb u got the float level right. U might want to check that. U can take the top of the carb apart and check it pretty easly. Run the motor and look in the carb. look in the secondary barrel, see if there is fuel dribbling out of the secondary jet. observe how the fuel sprays out. should have healthy spray. no dribbling. Start there and let us know what u see.
  19. The struts re all the same auto or manuel. the auto tranny is going to be hevyer than the standard simpley because there is more ************ inside.
  20. Yes I was working on the car this morning and figured that out when I compaired the two trannies. Thanks for the input. Lawrence.
  21. Yea it sounds like ur loading up check the choke. make sure everything is clean in the venturi of the carb. see if ur getting a good spray of gav when revving up and make sure the secondary is not spraying until floored.
  22. Are u trying to get higher compression. If so than u could run EA71 pistons. keep in mind this will change it from a 1.8 to 1.6. But high comp. as far as the valve clearance, It might say in a shop manuel if u have one. Ill look in mine when I get a chance. Dont know about shaving the block though. I probably wont give that much more comp. its gonna be a pretty small amount. Lawrence.
  23. Yes absolutly. use the Fel pro permatorques. OEM head gaskets are ************. If u cant get new head bolts than u should clean out the threads in the block for an accurate torque. Also if u get new bolts clean the threads. Any head gasket for an EA82, there all the same. even the turbos. make sure the heads are torqued evenly. and I would suggest to run a 2 core rad. EA82's are way under cooled especially the turbos. #1 cause for them blowing. If u have any more qustions dont hesitate to ask. Lawrence.
