I'm in the middle of converting a LSD to 3.9. It's gonna be installed on my 84 wagon. I'm doing it for the snow and rain traction. Not much for off roading but I'm sure it will help. When I get it all done and installed I'll let everyone know my outcome! You can pick up a LSD at the local junk yard. But they are hard to come by. If you find one GRAB IT.

OK I'm stuck. I got the diff apart and now I can't figure out how I can get the gears out of the case. I took the bolts out of the ring gear but nothing is coming apart. Help!

West Coast Subaru Show 7 Thread (real deal)

What are these secret mobiles your thinking on taking up there? -
Ok the front dash speakers. The drivers is an oval 5" X 3" and the passenger is an oval 6" X 3.5". I'm not sure why the size is different but it's a pain to find speakers. Here is a pic of the drivers side speaker out....

Cost is anywhere from $45-$70 at your local pick n pull yard. The price just depends on who's behind the counter that day. Jibs pulled two from two different yards and one charged him 45 and the other 70. I'm gonna attempt the ratio swap soon and I'll take some pic's and let you guys know if it needs grinding. Which I'm pretty sure it does.

Beautiful. Count me in! -
Ok I am going to attempt my first LSD conversion. I'm going from 3.7 to 3.9. Ok I read the the tech article but I don't know the terminology good enough. On the picture below can someone show me what needs to be swapped out. Where is the Ring gear? And which case will I end up using? The original 3.9 housing or the 3.7 LSD housing? Oh and what holes might be to small or to large? Just a little confused.
-
Okay this is a stupid question. But I dunno! With a LSD swap into a 84 wagon would I be able to run in 4wd on dry surfaces without the rear end binding up? Something like awd?

Does anyone have pictures of a LSD 3.7 conversion to a 3.9? I read the tech article but pictures would speak a thousand words. Thanks

Sounds good but I don't get off work until 2. That leaves little time to do anything. Plus in 2-3 weeks I think there will still be to much snow. Sunday works better. -
I have a 90 legacy auto tranny which is bad. I found a tranny for a 98 legacy. What would I need to mod to make this tranny work in the 90? I know I'll have to replace the rear diff cuz the 90 has a 4.11 gear ratio. Maybe the computer also? Please help and let me know if this is even possible. Thanks,

Help I broke my oil pump!
subieman replied to subieman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah I figured I needed a new pump after I heard it snap. Pnp is closed on Sundays here so I drove to Jibs house and pulled one off his parts wagon. The damn thing fell off in my hand. I have no idea why the pump on my wagon was so hard to get off. Oh well. It's now resealed and everything looks good. -
While uninstalling my oil pump I broke the casting or something. Is this fixable with some gasket sealant or am I doomed to buy a new pump????? HELP

Wanna make some money? I need one for my wagon.

EA81 A/C Instillation Instructions
subieman replied to subieman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ok the sheet is 20" by 24" double sided. Give me a few days to take it down to kinkos and have it copied. Or I'll mess around with my scanner and maybe I can do some kinda copy and paste the pages together. I'll keep you all informed. -

Funny thing is I did not even know I had that. I was digging through my old stuff from when I owned that hatchback and I found that! I might even install A/C to my wagon now! So if you want me to work something out let me know. I can have kinkos make a copy or something. -
If anyone is interested in installing A/C in there EA81, I have the factory installation instructions. I can scan and post, just let me know.
