  1. hum... well, looks like I have some more things to check Thanks! haha The timing is right at 8*. I re-timed it after I replaced the ditsy. The misfire is getting worse day by day. Looks like I’m running on borrowed time. Cant be a good thing during this huge snowstorm. thanks,
  2. Well, looking out my window we have just over a foot of snow and its still falling! I dunno if I wanna tromp around in the snow at pnp.. Damn!
  3. This is on my 1984 GL ea81 (California spec). I am about to pull my hair out with the crazy problem I’m having with my idle. The car idles very rough and stalls out. I had to crank the idle speed up to 1500 rpm to keep it from dieing. The car also has a bad misfire under 2000rpm. This is what I have replaced and checked…. The coil I tested and it come up 1.25 ohms (then replaced), the distributor I replaced with another one out of a parts car.(did not help the problem) All vacuum hoses are new and hooked up. I replaced the PCV and tested the EGR valve. Plug wires are new along with plugs and cap. I pulled the codes and got 73 which tells me it’s a California MT with a Hitachi carb???? What good that does. So what else could it be? It seems to me its electrical. I pulled most of the connectors in the engine compartment to make sure they are clean. But I dunno, maybe it’s the carb? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  4. More then ready! I'll try that grease you mentioned monstaru!
  5. Wow Skip thanks for the diagram, you rock. I got the problem fixed. It just happened to be corrosion on the battery terminal. I cleaned it up and it starts up like a champ. Thanks again for all your help. I still might put a push button start in the car. I like that idea. Peace,
  6. Damn when I was a kid I loved the snow! I could not wait for it to fall. Seems the older I get the more I hate it! HA! But it sure is fun to drive in! As for snow fall.... none for the next week. Since I have a ea81 again I'm up for some wheelin outings.
  7. I think I know it's not the solenoid and not the starter causing the problem. Thanks for the ignition help guys. I will try your suggestions tomorrow. I'll let you know what I find out.
  8. Ok, today when I was leaving work I went to start my car and when I turned the key all I got was a click. So my first thought was dead battery… no that wasn’t it. So then I figured it was time to replace the starter. I have tried 3 different starters and they all do the same, click and nothing. I pulled one of the starters far enough away from the bell housing to see if it was spinning or not. All it was doing is pushing out the gear and not spinning! What the heck is going on? Are all 3 starters bad? Or am I missing something? Its not a very complex system. Wire from the battery to the starter.. and then a switch to ground it??? What could go wrong there? I need some advice quick because this is my only mode of transportation!! Thanks.
  9. Yes I have smog in this part of Washoe. This 84 is also a calif spec. The computer does not throw any codes. I have the FSM also.... but so many factors. I just might take it in to Independent Auto to have it checked out.
  10. I just wanted to bump this up to the top. I recently perchesed subiewonkenobi 84 wagon and I would like to figure this problem out myself. I haven't had the time to look at it too closely, I just hoped someone else has an idea what the problem is. Thanks,
  11. Pictures © by Subieman!!!! haha yeah we do live in one beautiful place and his brat is going to explore every acre of it! Lifting the brat was quite an experience and I can't wait to lift a subaru of my own!
  12. Nice Ride!!! I'm pretty jealous at the moment. I must see it asap!
  13. I woke up this morning at 3:30am and it was 0.5 degrees! Buuuurrrrrrrr.. it froze up my pipes. Todays high is 24. I guess I can live without water! hehe
  14. Brian, good thing you stayed home today. It took me 5.5 hours to drive from Nevada City CA to Reno NV. It was quite nuts, I'll never do that again! Iv never been so unprepared for winter as for this year. I only have one 4x4 running and thats my Brat. DAMN!!! I need some money to fix my Legacys.
  15. How is Doyale Grade a flatlanders drive? Its a muddy dirt road. I'm confused.
  16. Ah a street trip. Ok but I still dont have a 4wd Legacy running at the moment!! Grrrr I'll have to work on that. Whats wrong with my Brat? hum... well it's a 78 Brat....
  17. Hell yeah I'm in. I might need to play hooky from work if we are going to do this on a weekend. I get off work at 1pm on Sundays though. I'm without a wheeler at the moment, but maybe JB can let me borrow one of his Brats! *wink wink*
  18. My first Soob was a 1987 GL-10 Turbo wagon. Bought it in 94 and I kept it until it was stolen in 98. It had 197k on it. I just rebuilt the tranny 3 week before it was stolen! It was a great car and it did start my Subaru obsession. This is my one and only picture of it taken with a Polaroid camera. Sorry for the horrible quality.
  19. Huh? I'm talking about the B9X... not the Legacy. I like the style of the Legacy better.
  20. Is Subaru being serious or is this a joke. I really really hope the production model looks nothing like that sketch. I'll stick with the Legacy line thank you very much!
  21. Change that axle NOW! I had a similar experience with my legacy. Clicking in a straight line for about a month until one day it broke. I was on the freeway going about 70 when the CV finally failed, it ripped the steering wheel out of my hand and I went skidding across the freeway. Very scary!
  22. Yes I need to get those batteries recharged and head back out there! It was a blast.. the last puddle was up past the brats front bumper. It caused a good flood in Jibs's cab. I need to get some pictures of me too!!!
