My blower motor has been staying on after I turn the ignition key off. The heater control is switched to off also. If I smack the bottom drivers side of the dash it sounds like a relay clicking on and off. What is the fix for that? Were is is located? What does it look like (pictures)? I have also noticed my radio will stay on also. Are they related? Thanks

Oil Recomendations?? Lifter Noise.
heep70 replied to froggymike's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I use 10-30 castrol with 8 onces of MMO. If that doesn't clear it and the lifter noise appears to be only one lifter and it is pretty loud then you may have a collaps lifter. -
loyale bike hauling options
heep70 replied to loyalewithcheese's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I use Yakama, but I have the whole rack. Bike trays and roof rack that clamps to the drip rails. There is a pick of it in my gallery (not a very clear one). -
If you find anyone that sells the right sized roll pins, let me know. I tried to get some through auto parts stores and they informed me I had to buy the axle. I tried hardware stores to see if I can find the right size. No luck. I didn't asked for help there. I probably could had ordered them. I am guessing they are also metric. Subaru dealer even said not available.

See what happens when I am board at work? Now look what I have started. Thanks folks for the replies. I have may answer, a close one anyway.

Ok, I am board here at work, so I decided to re-arrange some formulas to figure out how fast I am really going (MPH) with 26" tall tires. I come up with a couple different answers not far from each other, but well worth a ticket if I choose the wrong one. So now I come to you folks. What is the MPH offset I will be seeing running 26" tires? I am close to 5 - 6MPH (9.1%) difference (faster) at 55MPH on the speedo.

Thanks!

What are the gear ratios in my 1986 GL Dual Range 5 speed manual transmission? I am trying to figure out how fast I am really traveling MPH with the 26" tires. I can use this formula if the 5th gear was a 1:1 ratio. RPM = (MPH X Gear Ratio X 336) / Tire Diameter OR MPH = (RPM X Tire Diameter) / (Gear Ratio X 336)

I just bought some Wildcat All Seasons 195 75 14. They are measured at 26" tall. I only have the 1" of stock lift and they clear. Not by much though, but I don't care. Anywho, I run the same tread design on my 71 F250 4x4 and they do great up in the mtn snow. Get them sipped when you get tires. That make a world of difference. Good luck http://www.lesschwab.com/tires/light_suv/wildcat_as.html

I'm STILL over heating... dang.
heep70 replied to theDirtyRue's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Taking the thermostat out will not help you run any cooler infact it only makes matters worse. Unless the thermostat is stuck shut. Take it to a rad shop and have them shot it with a heat gun to see if it is actually getting hot. How old are the hoses (rad hoses and heater hoses)? Hose(s) could be collapsing on the inside. Timing set correctly? Thermostat installed right side up? Fan coming on? Compression check and block test should be done. -

Can't find right oil filter
heep70 replied to subardoom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I use the wix filter also and it fits up perfect. I was going to say it is the goofy state you live in, but I live in the same state. -

I must of thrown my 160 away or I put it that very safe place that nobody will ever find it :-\ . I looked at one of my other Ford therms and it is a 54mm, but there is no bleeder. I guess if you do get one from a chevy or a Ford then you might want to drill a small bleeder in it.
-
I hate reading, I WANT PICTURES Cool, good job.
-
I think I have a 160 at my house. I will check when I get home. Ford 460s use the same size thermastat. They offer a 160 for it. The only thing different is the passage hole is not offset. It still has the bleeder on the side.

Could it be a u-joint?

I called them up and they sent me three boots and only charged me a little less then $2.00 for shipping. She said that being I had to pay a tax for living in the state I do she would cut me a break on the shipping. Niiiiicccceeee Hey Turbone, hang onto them boots. Subaru as far as she knows is still providing the boots. Why Puyallup and Tacoma said the opposite I don't know. Maybe they are LAZY?:-\

They must have to use a giant box to accomidate all the packaging they go in :-\ Thanks for the info.
