  1. Well it sounds like the newer Subarus have the same basic problems as the older Subarus just at a higher technical level so to speak. I was hoping that I could get away from the HG issues I seem to be having all the time on my 86. I don't mind the usual maintinance issues. What is the usual mileage for the HG to go?
  2. I am thinking about buying a late ninties - early 2000s Outback wagon. I would prefer a manual trans, 4x4 or AWD. What are the pros and cons? What is the better year? Price range? I here the 2.5 engines have head gasket issues? (so does my 86 ) What about manual tranny problems? Let me hear it all. Any input in leading me the right way is welcome (to buying an Outback). Thanks
  3. Twin front 5 ton Rockwells!
  4. Come on, give it a shot. I don't see no winch.
  5. You should get a steeper angle on the one from the corner of the bumper. If you look at the line it is cutting through the tire to hit the part of the tire on the ground. It should be the angle from were the line first touches the tire from the bumper.
  6. Get a yellow top optuma. I have yet to drain the ONE I got dead pulling logs up hill.
  7. I am just picking on Ken.
  8. Qman doesn't live there anymore.

  12. I was getting ready to post the same question. Whats up with the retro?
  13. Ya, Steve still curves distys. $50 I believe it was. Which style disty you got? Yes, us Ford people just can't seem to get it right with these Subarus so we rely on real 4x4. Here is my almost done trail rig. We will have to hook up soon.
  14. Who is this 4x4 welder dude Hey LT, you still messin with that Brat? You going to run it this summer?
  15. Heres my junk with a lift and 26" tires.
  16. I don't know if you folks are keeping up with this or not, but here is some cool news. I pulled this of the SNORT board. Thurston Co ORV Park to reopen as Straddleline? The Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation (IAC) is formulating a business plan to reopen and operate the ORV park located on the boundary line between Thurston and Grays Harbor counties in the state of Washington, now named Straddleline ORV Park. You may recall Thurston County operated the park for many years, then closed it in 2002. Grays Harbor County has been working to reopen the park with funding assistance from the NOVA program. In September 2005, the IAC board adopted Resolution 2005-23, which reads in part: "the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation, approves a one-time non-competitive grant (to Grays Harbor County) of up to $424,000 in a three-tier funding strategy: 1) up to $59,000 for initial operating costs to satisfy legal nonconforming use permit requirements, 2) up to $15,000 for completion of a professional facility condition survey, business plan, and exit strategy, and 3) up to $350,000 for development and maintenance of the facility for two years once IAC approves the proposed business plan and exit strategy." Grays Harbor County, with the help of volunteers and user groups, has successfully satisfied the requirements to preserve the special use permit! In addition, they worked with the Grays Harbor Council of Governments to prepare a draft business plan, which was made available to the public on January 23, 2006, and can be viewed online at their Website http://www.co.grays-harbor.wa.us/in...sinessPlan.html The county has scheduled a hearing to review public comment on the draft plan on Monday, February 6, 2006. For more information on the public hearing, see http://www.co.grays-harbor.wa.us/in...ing20060206.pdf. The IAC board will review the draft plan at their February 3, 2006 meeting in Olympia and consider whether to release the final $350,000 in funding. Because this date is prior to formal adoption by the county, you are encouraged to submit any comments you want the IAC board to consider directly to IAC at KammieB@iac.wa.gov or fax to 360-902-3026.
  17. Rooinator, here is a pic after its first couple coats of paints. It looks shining, but will dry to a flat tan color. OK, fine. This computer won't let me upload. Here is a link. Its on the first page. http://www.snort4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29476

    Rock Rails??

Alot of the "Heeps" & Toyotas use them to slide around stumps and rocks in real tight turns. This is done by pressing against the stump or whatever to make the rear slide out allowing to make the tight turns in one stab. They are normaly termed "sliders". Yes, they also protect the jams. 3/16" angle would probably fit nicely on the Subaru jams.
  19. How much is all pro listing that e-brake? Sky lists theirs at $195.00. http://www.sky-manufacturing.com/
  20. Ya ya ya, I will get pics of it when I am done painting it probably next weekend. Mine is not moving as fast as yours. I am also collecting parts for my Highboy. It is next to get the body redone and another 460. I am buying my second T-case today for my double. I found another 1980 t-case that has the bigger input shaft. I am going up north to look at Crash's flatbed he has for sale and buy his old bumper. His flatbed doesn't fit my short wheelbase, but I like the way it is set up.
