  1. Hi all. I am selling my 91 Loyale wagon. EA82, SPFI, 5Speed, 145k miles, 4WD New tires (about 5k), battery, alternator, few other new parts, cv one side. This Soob is my daily driver and runs great, starts easy, engine runs smooth, steering is tight, all glass is good, EVERYTHING works, except a/c as this was my winter car and I had no need for a/c, components are all there though. NY state inspection expires at end of May. Currently on the road and still driven daily. I bought a full size pickup to replace it. There is a lot of rust including holes in almost every body panel (none in the roof though!). You can see some pictures posted on Craigslist Ithaca. I am in King Ferry, central New York about 20 miles north of Ithaca. It would be great for this car to go to a USMB member. This is a great site and has helped me a lot with my Soob ownership. Email questions to bco2jco@msn.com or call 315-364-8089 Thanks Bernard Edit: When I say EVERYTHING works that is all lights wipers power windows defroster heat and the like ...car is mechanically sound. The check engine light has been on since the day I bought it and I have driven it 7k. Didn't bother me since it runs smooth and gets about 26 mpg. The exhaust is solid from cat to tailpipe except I replaced the resonator (or middle muffler) with a piece of straight pipe.
  2. Thanks. This is just the type of info I am looking for. A Ford pump should be easy to find. Long term issues are not a big concern. I need to run this car till summer when I get around on 2 wheels mostly. At that point I need to take a hard look and decide if it is worth repairing the rotted body on my Soob. Thanks again to all who replied.
  3. is your loyale FI? Yes, I believe it is SPFI. The fuel pump is in fron ot the rear wheel.
  4. I need to replace the rusted and leaking fuel pump on my 91 Loyale wagon and don't want to spend $200 for an OEM pump, so I am looking for options. First I'll check a few junkyards but the supply of Subarus is not that great. QUESTION: Will a fuel pump from other Subaru models work on my Loyale, if so what models and years?? I searched the forum and a post suggested using a universal fuel pump, at 3 psi, and recommended a Mr. Gasket brand. I found a Mr. Gasket pump online (amazon) for $30. It is a model 42S electric but the pdf installation instructions stated that it is not for use with any type of fuel injection. The install was basic and straightforward though. QUESTION: Does any one know of a universal type fuel pump that will work well on my Loyale? Please be as specific as possible with model and where I might find it. Or if I ask at a good parts store what "specs" am I looking for? Thanks for your help. My wife said I should just get a newer car, but I really want to hang on to my Soob!
  5. I have discovered a little seepage around the rubber seal where the plastic brake fluid resevoir connects to the master cylinder. Does anyone know if these seals are available alone. Or do I need to replace or rebuild the master cylinder. It looks like the resevoir just "pops" into the master cylinder. I only noticed one phillips screw on the side. Does anyone have any experience with this. Thanks. BCO
  6. Thanks for all of those that replied to my post. All of the info is helpful. Only after posting did I discover the USRM and I have been browsing and learning. Thanks again BCO
  7. OK. I just bought my first Subaru to use as a winter rat, but I am already so tickled with it I am now considering a more extensive restoration. 91 Loyale wagon 4WD, 5 speed. The engine number is EA82SAW4A and a 5 vin. What is the signifigance of these numbers? Is this a "good" engine. It shows 138k miles, runs smooth and is not leaking or oozing anything. Any pecularities I should look out for. The car seems relatively simple to work on (for a shadetree mechanic like myself). Can you recommend a good service manual, Haynes, Chilton or some other? Thanks. I am sure I will need some more help in the future. BCO
